Top kek.
Anyways onto the continuation. Sorry if this is a bit anticlimactic. I typed up a bunch more stuff but I've decided not to include some of it. Basically it comes down to the fact that this is an archived, public forum and I'm not willing to risk the more astute of you might figure out what company I'm talking about and expose me. I'd like to think you guys would respect that I've chosen to share this shit and that I could potentially get fucked for "leaking" it but we're dealing with the lowest common denominator here and this is 4chan after all.
Anyways onto the stories:
>>35164795
Hmm okay. Nothing else illegal springs to mind immediately although some of this shit should be IMO.
Let's start out light and entertaining. So one time some random dude emailed one of the CS guys with no prior contact saying "Hey asshole, send me a dealer application form." That's paraphrased and the actual message might've been longer but I don't remember, the wording is probably like 95% accurate though.. The CS guy actually printed it out to show other people and it gets passed around every once in a while. Oh yeah, that guy never got his dealer app IIRC.
I bring up this story first because for this anecdote and many others I really regret not bringing my phone to work for photographic evidence of some of this shit. I didn't for several reasons.
1) Cell phones we're not allowed.
2) The rule was somewhat lax but my manager was the biggest hardass about this rule in particular.
3) The place has video surveillance and taking photos of shit would probably be a good way to get fired and probably sued or some shit.

4) Some people would use their phone in their car on break but being a weapon manufacturer there were a ton of gun mags around that the mags send to the company for free as samples because we pay for advertising. Why is this relevant? Where normally breaks without my phone for entertainment would be boring af, I had plenty of gun mags to read. Plus after people had read them it was totally cool to take whatever ones home that you wanted for free (they were nice mags too, recoil, ballistic, etc in addition to your more typical gun mags and hunting centric ones).
>Pic related, a few magizines I took. The Japanese one was kept strictly because I thought it was funny, it's from 2006 so pretty old.
Every once in a while you'd get your shitty anodizing colors (light grey, purple, blue instead of mil-spec black). Most of the time this wasn't a huge deal and it went out (still wouldn't be happy personally if I got something with some of those colors). The worst example I saw from before my time was some parts that were like a grey similar to tungsten cerakote but with a sky bluish tinge (if you can imagine that in anodizing) AND THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A MIL-SPEC MATTE BLACK ANODIZED PART!
I didn't experience this firsthand but I overheard multiple times (again from high up reliable sources) the story of "The accuracy problems after the switch to QPQ barrels (from being chromed previously)." This really cemented for me what quality companies mean when they say that nitride is very good but it is very important that the nitride is being done right. This was a case of a third party doing the nitriding (pretty common) but not being better before hand or chosen simply because of proximity. I don't know the specifics of this not do I know if any of the shitty barrels actually went out to customers and if the complaints about poor accuracy were from customers or internal frustration.

While assembling one of the suppressors I decided to look down through the baffles. What did I discover but rust patches on the edges baffle cone towards the center where the bullet travels through. Some were worse than others and not all had it but a good majority of the baffles had at least some rust all in this same spot. Not certain but I believe they were 17-4ph steel baffles (does Income even rust?). This was quite alarming to me and when I brought it up after checking and discovering how widespread the issue was (I kinda figured maybe it was just a one-off at first) the response I got was "Huh that's strange, it shouldnt rust." Don't know if anything was ever done about it, I honestly don't recall but I think brushing it off might've been mentioned. Sure I understand it's a gun part and it's gonna be dirty as fuck as soon as a customer gets it but it being rusted from the factory bothers me. These are the only supressors I've handled, is this normal and I'm just over reacting?
Parts were rarely blemed unless they flat out wouldn't work or were very obviously broken, those were set aside in a special box and discounted for employees. Examples include pitting and dings in anodized aluminum parts. These were regularly allowed to go out the door with the rationale of "If the customer doesn't like it they will return it." Zero care for their image or putting out a quality product; profits were the bottom line, every time. Birchwood casey super black paint pens were a staple in the assembly dept (At A FUCKING PROFESSIONAL MANUFACTURER). To cover up imperfections in anodizing, scratches, etc.
It was truly eye opening to see some of the shit that goes on behind the scenes. This is only a sample size of one company but it really makes you think and question where you're buying shit from. The scary part for me is this is a generally pretty popular brand that I've even seen recommended here.
Cont.
>>35166088
What parts kits you fags use?
>>35166395
Large part of the reason I no longer work there is that I took issue personally with their business practices. A focus on cranking shit out versus doing it right. Bringing up quality issues to a supervisor who would 90% of the time just say "Let it go." because he himself didn't want to bring it to his boss only to be told "let it go" because the boss above HIM (who coincidentally had big man syndrome and abused his position to be an asshole to everyone) would just say to "let it go". This ties back to the profit over quality. Basically they couldn't be assed to mention even things he thought were questionable because after working there for nearly a decade he was tired of hearing "let it go" from his boss, and bosse's boss. Obviously this should raise eyebrows if you understand manufacturing, this is how shit gets let by that really shouldn't. I did the right thing most of the time by focusing on quality as much as I could and bringing up any issue I thought was significant, I even took to singing "Let it go" from Frozen in my head on particularly bad days. This of course impacted my speed versus the other wage slaves (in assembly) who largely had zero interest in guns and/or simply didn't care and did what was necessary to make rate.
The suppressor department didn't have near as many glaring issues (I WOULD FUCKING HOPE SO) with much closer attention to QC and blem issues so at least there is that. The rust issue was the only issue I can recall that I don't know for sure was addressed, most of the shit I brought up there was either legitimately not a big deal or was set aside to be corrected.
In the end, I'm glad I don't work there any more. It was really cool to work with firearm stuff but in my singular example I didn't really get to do any cool shit (like test fire the fully automatic guns or cans), the benefits weren't great, no real discounts (that's a whole 'nother topic), and it just wasn't worth the fucking headache.

>>35167485
Further proof that Centurion is still GOAT for lightweight FF quads.
>>35167529
>not understanding the actual issue
wew lad
The largest problem with the BCM bolt up is the barrel nut and bolt system combo. The barrel nut is to short to get a proper alignment with the barrel, think concentric to bore, and the two screws that tighten pull the rail upwards. So with those two issues, when you tighten the nuts you pull the rail upwards. Its not to bad on the Alpha rails, but was extreme with the original KMRs.
take an upper with nothing on it and lay it rail side down and see how much bowing their is.

Most ARs have largely interchangeable components that can be upgraded without having to worry a lot about compatibility. If I were you I'd look at Aero precision's OEM rifle kit, that way you can choose what type of rail and stock and optics you want without wasting time and money on a complete rifle, but without the hassle of assembling most of the rifle.

You can get Rugers AR556s and M&P Sport 2s for less than $600, or an Aero complete rifle for close to the same price. Generally you buy something cheap like that, shoot the fuck out of it then you build something with better quality parts and change the stuff you don't like, so like maybe you go from carbine gas to mid length etc.

>>35167761
I would personally do what >>35167820
Has said.
I'd pick the Colt oem first and the Aero second. Then you pick your rail and stock of choice. You can have a nice rifle with a free floated rail and good stock for like $700 if you go with the Aero
>>35167848
Wait how does that work

oh wow, that's a good weapon. My range buddy has one, and I love it!

This was a Colt OEM1, dont regret not having a waffle stock and clam shell handguards taking up room in my parts bin.
>>35167868
did you end up going with the KAK+saddle?
>>35167783
I fucking hate them, I had one unscrew its way loose and it almost fell 200 ft to a watery grave. Replace or dummy cord them.

Any experience with S&S Precision?
>>35167783
Arisaka makes really nice, simple mounts for scout lights for like 37 dollars shipped. I've had trouble finding used UE07, lowest price I've found for the complete assembly is $75.
>>35167814
M&p 15 is one then follow this list
websites are really random depending on sales, if they accept paypal youre good to go, primary arms, red barn armory, joe bob outfitters, optics planet the main websites for parts like geissele, cryptic, magpul obvioulsy are going to have the stuff though usually they never have sales.
>>35167918
I just dislike those magpul sights. So nothing really.

Are you going to be just using irons, or planning on putting an optic? Magpul MBUS are fine, but MBUS Pros, KAC micros or even griffin m2s would be better folding buis. If only irons, Scalarworks makes some fixed that might look cool on your setup.
