Civilian-legal ak-102/ak-104 is called saiga mk-03.
Some early mk-03 (exactly mk-03-02, but nobody cares about 02 (-02 is probably from Legion and have wooden handguard and steel triangle stock)) have this type of combination gasblock. I.e. this gun have this from factory.

And real ak102/104/105 gasblock really pricey. It can cost at least 1/3 of new rifle and you can find gas-regulated for this price.

Barely related but is it just me or does it still feel weird that there's a slow burning civil war IN EUROPE right now that no one seems to care about? I mean, yeah... we have stuff in the Balkans in the 90's but its 2017 and we're into a multi year low intensity war in Europe that's displaced like two million people and killed tens of thousands of people. Yes there's a ceasefire but still... Imagine if this sort of shit was happening in Western Europe... like the UK was trying to take back the Republic of Ireland or something. It's fucking nuts. I guess for older dudes that remember the balkan conflicts better it's not that weird but still... Plus there seems to be no real end in sight for the war in Ukraine.

The dream is real, I'm finally building my own gun. I have all the parts together and I'm buying the last tools I need. All the rust is cleaned out of the kit and the only thing I really need right now is to know where to drill the goddamn rivet holes in the receiver oh god help me I don't know.
>>
>>35114944
You can do it senpai.
Just take your time, and if you get frustrated, set it down and take a break.

Depends on tools--if none: measure off trunnion to find locations then centerpunch and drill. If drill press/mill: clamp barrel stub (or something holding trunnion) in vise, align cutting tool with rivet hole, secure vise, slide receiver on trunnion, drill/mill. Either way be sure to check x50 and cut once; there are plenty of videos on this that hold your hand to walk you through the entire process. YouTube ginsboy2003, mel64d, flandre, etc. until you feel more comfortable with what it is you need to do.
>>
Not really an AK related question, but what's the best way to clean an SKS out after shooting corrosive? How thorough do I have to be? I hear some people clean their gun top to bottom and some say you just have to wash out the barrel and gas tube with hot water or Windex or whatever and that's it.
>>
>>35115361
Get your hose (not your dick hose of course) and flush everything out with water. Don't put it away wet.

I think the reason he did that in the first place was because a regular full length gas tube would look goofy in compared to the handguard since the handguard is a normal type with a retainer but the gas tube is set back about half and inch or more further due to the shorter rear sight base/hinge thing of the aks-74u

And the only reason the IRA didn't have MBTs is because they're on a fucking island. The only reason Ukrainian separatists have them is because they share a border with the guys supplying them. Otherwise they'd be the same half cocked insurgency that everyone else has been.

Something I've been thinking about:

Retainer wires (I'm most familiar with the variety that ships with Arsenal rifles) hold the FCG axis pins tight enough for them NOT to rotate when the trigger/hammer move. All the retainer plates I've tried, however, allow the FCG pins to rotate relative to the receiver.

Now, we know the big reason Russia switched from 4.5mm folding trunnion to 5.5mm was to increase the surface area of the pin touching the receiver (and decrease the surface area of the pin touching the stock), and thereby prevent the pin from rotating inside the trunnion when the stock is folded/unfolded.

So, my question is: How much of a problem is letting the trigger/hammer axis pins rotate against the receiver holes?

Also they're not creating buffer states, they're keeping them. It's not different than the US and it's reaction back in the 60's the Cuba and that whole deal. Also it's not a genetic obsession, it self interest. Yes it's geography and this time Russia is more back into a corner than it has been in a long time (if you're going to equate Russia and the USSR as continuous entities). I'm not really arguing that they don't have an interest in buffer states, just that since 1991, Russia has been constantly struggling to stave off a second wave of collapse and so it needs it buffers to exist. The difference is that this time we're talking about a proper low intensity modern war with a continental breakfast. The Hungarian Revolution, first off was back in fucking 1956 and wasn't nearly as intense. Afghanistan? Well if you want to side with a bunch dunecoons, fine but that was just another buffer state. There are other examples that you didn't bring up but nothing exceptional nor anything that compares the Ukraine crisis. The only way we might see a similar crisis develop at this point would be in Belarus, or something of a similar fashion in the baltics if Russia feels the need to kick NATO off of it's North West border (not wanting NATO jets in sortie distance from their two biggest cities is reasonable imho).

You're confusing emo and scene. Emo goes back to the 90's. Scene was something that didn't pop up until the early-mid 00's. It's right on wikipedia dude.

I'm not sure cuba is the same as eastern bloc in regards to surplus
Even finding camo shirts was newsworthy from my digging through old shit

I'm just hoping this dude finds the pants he was telling me about so I have a small start on cuban stuff along with the ukiekit I'm starting

It really isn't. The music was a little bit different, the styling of hair and clothing was different. Of course I never really got into either but still. Know your tween sub-cultures from the mid to late 00's you fucking old man!
>Either way it was around before you were in high school dude.
Well aware considering I was introduced to it in middle school

I said it goes back to the 90s because that's when my cousin was into that shit and then so was I in the early 00's. Fucking kids.
>>
>>35118821
Honestly i only bought it because saigas got dumb expensive. Its been half right for a long time. Id never buy one again. Just go vepr but its good when you pour retard money to it and are ok with more mods than standard saiga. Everything takes extra messaging.

I actually like this a lot. Just keep the ctr on there. The sopmod is comfy but the extra weight is noticeable in comparison. The minimalist stock is light but looks lame imo.

No, io AKs are, and probably always will be, junk.

The ctr is real loose. Rattles when I move and pulls hair from my face. The battle link is tempting because the rifle is on the tubby side. I used a end mill to lighten up the alum structure of the handguard, it helps.

>3 indoor ranges i shot at several times with no issues

>move to the city because i transfered schools
>no outdoor ranges anywhere
>go to nearest indoor range
>"sorry no steel core ammo don't want no range fires"
>go to another range slightly farther away
>"sorry no steel CASE ammo, you can buy our brass x39 for 25 bucks a box"
>go to the last range within an hours drive >"sorry no steel case ammo"

I cant fucking find anywhere to shoot my aks. I can sorta understand no steel core ammo but no steel case ammo just sounds retarded to me. I never had any issue with any other indoor ranges before. Hell on of the ones i went to sold tula for thier rental ak.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've got a few builds I need to go test fire, but can't be assed to go to the range to do so when they're either indoor or have per/hour entry costs, and most are the same way about steel cased--before I moved there was a nice outdoor range that was about $10 for all day and you could shoot whatever the hell you wanted. I've got family with land not too far away and I can go shoot there for free, but it's just hard to find the time lately.
>>
>>35119851

>>
>>35119851
Only a few retarded ranges are like that here. But there are plenty others. The no steel case thing is just retarded. But if you get some ammo that isn't steel core wouldn't you be able to shoot at the range that just said no steel core?

You would want a belt with a stiffiner, blackhawk makes a riggers belt thats $25-35, would be a cheap way to find out if you like that setup. That it a lot of weight to have on your belt, there are tons of chest rig options that would be more comfy and versatile.

It's alright, but it's nothing compared to saltwater sport fishing, it's like comparing bench shooting and warfighting, there's just so much difference it doesn't even feel like the same activity. Two wholly different skills too tho, I can run a thicc king up by feel now but bass fishing takes 1000% more finesse

Alright I just pulled apart a boolet and the core is fucking lead not steel. I dented it with a pen. Also correct me if I'm wrong but L.C.B stands for lead core bimetal??

I still doubt I would be able to convince the fuds but is it worth a try if I bring them a bullet?
>>
>>35121442
If they're doing a magnet test they're going to disallow any complete round that attracts a magnet. Even if the jacket wasn't bimetal, they'd hit the case, laugh at you, and demand that you spend over $1/rd on their ammo.

This is not by accident.

What I generally do is bring my rounds boxed and in an ammo can with the top 2 layers consisting of the test ammo covering the other layers of what I'm actually going to load into my mags.
