Finally checked a beater underfolder off my to-buy list. What's your preferred 762x39 zero witk wolf akg? Gonna beat that AK pussy up tomorrow for a few hours.
>>
>>35122181
Preferred zero with wolf? Like, what distance do we zero our rifles at? I zero my rifle at what the numbers on the rear sight say.
>>
>>35122181
Just leave it on the Universal setting and call it a day.
>>
>>35122195
Yeah. I've been reading up on wolf trajectories and ak zero preferences. I'm anal about the zero on rifles. Some folks swear by 25 yard zero with the alphabet setting and memorizing holdovers/unders claiming the range adjustment is unreliable. Others swear by setting it to 100 and zeroing 100.

Just collecting some opinions from akg.

I zero at 21m with my sights set to 200 yards using this target and then confirm on a steel silhouette at 400m. It's not perfect but it works well enough.
>>
>>35122322
Now that's a new one. I'm going to check the rest of the poa/poi discrepancies with this zero, but it seems like a good one.

With my ARs I've generally done a 50/200 zero. 21/200 on the AK seems workable with manageable holdovers out to 400.

Thanks.

I think someone just got tired of the "21cm high at 100m on your battlesight zero setting" way of doing it and did the math to get the same thing at a closer range.

NP. I like the shark fin.
>>
>>35122322
Uh I don't get it.. You set for 200 and shoot this at 21 but is that like how the bullet raises then falls or what?
>>
Bullets travel in an arc after leaving a barrel. On the upward trajectory it will cross and hit your POI at 21m. It will level out and on the downward trajectory cross your POI again at 200m. It will be low 1-20m and beyond 200m. It will be high between 22m and 199m.

At least according to the ballistics the people who made that target were using.

The key to "battle zeroez" is finding this type of zero that also provides as little deviation between POA and POI as possible put to reasonable engagement ranges. That way you are not fiddledicking with sight adjustment and can reliably be minute of man under fire or in situations that require rapid engagement of targets.

no, I went with the deluxe model from Phoenix Technology with the included recoil reduction
http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/stock-forend-parts/buttstocks/kicklite-tactical-buttstock-saiga-sku100016007-72197-152556.aspx?sku=100016007

the Tapco one seemed too cheap

well turns out the Phoenix is a piece of shit and I should have tried the tapco

the recoil reduction springloaded telescopic stock doubled the felt recoil and gave me a headache everytime it cycled
so that thing went out and was replaced by a roll of pennies (2cent euro cent coins)

next all 3 screws constantly unfastened themselves even with loctite

and then the grip broke in half

pic sadly related, don't have a pic of the broken grip

Only thing i prepare for is diffrrent guns/ammo being restricted since ive actually seen that happen.

Ive been through power outages for several days and i keep more guns out and talk to neighbors about keeping an eye out.
Ive had riots for days where i work (charlotte). I bring a rifle to work those days. Most people at work being handguns most days.

In my 40 some years in the gun trade I have only seen one other of these rifles. It is in a Vietnam museum in Wisconsin. So my Romanian bayonet doesn't really fit onto my my WASR. I need to use a mallet to get it on, then a mallet to get it off. Also, the button on the side of the bayonet handle is v e r y sticky

Is this a common issue? Is there any way to fix it, or do I just have to suck it up and buy a new one?

There doesnt need to be any justification, get it because thats what you want it.

The sw sport 2 and ruger 556 are good rifles and around 450.
Worrying about the cant is a bit dramatic. As long as the rifle zeros its gtg. My Wasr 10 and my slr 104 has a canted fsb but the post is centered and zeroed.

WASRs went from an average of $650-700ish a couple years ago to $500-550 now.
N-PAPs are cheap as hell and Century is pumping out underfolders like crazy.
So yeah, I'd say it's coming down in reference to new production.

In reference to Maks, Maadis, SARs, VEPRs, Saigas, etc..., no.
They'll never be imported again and prices will never lower.

>>35121984
Anyone ever had any luck in trading guns with a gun store?
A local one has a Maadi I like but I've only got a bunch of SKSs and Mosins in the "trade" pile of my gun collection.

The AK market is currently fucked and in a state of limbo due to all the Russia shit going on. Pick up a WASR, or wait until Arsenal starts importing again.

They're pretty much functionally identical, if you don't care about looks then chrome lined Bulgarian zigzags and half moons are only like $35. Just buy whatever you think looks coolest, if you don't care about looks just get a cheaper Bulgarian brake, there's no reason to go out of your way searching for a specific Russian brake unless you specifically want that brake for aesthetic reasons

Obtained this MAK90 with the thumbhole stock. Am AK noob, so I assumed the receiver was the slant-back stamped variety common on MAKs.

Just took off the stock for the first time and discovered it is in fact a straight cut (pic related, and its stamped if you can't tell).

This is good, correct? Does this mean I can use any stock intended to fit on a Type 56 rifle? If so, can anyone recommend a commonly available replacement for my thumbhole stock (I'm leaning towards a side-folder)?

Our class has only met 7 times but I actually considered doing that on day 1 and have been planning it ever since. I have been planning on discretely recording some lectures and making a montage of the ridiculous shit she says. Also her "lectures" last on average 35 minutes out of a 50 minute allotted class time, and despite the university not having Labor Day off this year, her class was cancelled due to "illness," and it's cancelled again tomorrow because of Irma, despite the university already sending a schoolwide email saying classes will continue as scheduled. She is an insult to me and everyone else who paid money to suffer through her bile.

You should do it. Im not being sarcastic either.
>>
>>35131247
I don't know about recording but I do like the idea. Verify if you can record this person because the last thing you want is having this backfire, right?

Ok, well I just looked up the Aimpoint Pro's price and it was not what I estimated it would be, I am considering it now. I only got a UTG slide mount that I got as a package from a dude on armslist. Is it any good?

Shill bidding definitely happens, there's a milsurp dealer who's notorious for it. I think these are legit sales looking at he bidders history. I suppose there's a chance they could establish long running accounts and use them to purchase items for their stores, and also shill their auctions.

Most people are at least mildly discerning about what something is worth.

I've got a 100% receiver I bought awhile back when waffen werks went out and they were cheap as fuck on classic firearms. Anyway, I kinda want to build a rifle now and was curious If anyone has any schematics or advice for homemade rivet crushers. I've got a 20 ton press but I don't really want to spend a ton on tools since I'll probably only build one.
