>The Shooting Edge

Fuck off with that garbage, JR Cox and those cunts can get bent.
>>
>>35094301
Out of curiosity why does everyone hate them? I heard they got something reclassified as prohibited.
>>
>>35094620

Quick and dirty:

TSE was bringing in Swiss Arms Classic Rifles, pic related. They were the primary distributor (Think TI and the type 81), but they slow and there were never enough to go around. Also TSE are not fun to deal with.

So, The Calgary Shooting Centre goes right to SAN (Swiss Arms), and starts bringing in their own equivalent rifle. Someone trades in a CSC Swiss rifle to TSE, and they find out they're going around them to bring them in.

JR Cox, the owner/CEO of TSE, complains to the RCMP that the CSC gun is "a converted auto". However, he essentially states that TSE's isn't. It gets a bit convoluted, but essentially he tried to argue other Swiss Classic type rifles have "lineage" to named prohibited SIG rifles (SIG 550 or 540 or something). But that TSE's aren't related and are A-okay

The RCMP immediately jump to action. Cox' backfires when ,in in true horse-police fashion, they decide ALL Swiss Classic type guns are now Prohibited. Then the whole long battle to get them reclassified happens etc.

Basically his competitor started encroaching on him. So JR tried to fuck them by tattling to the RCMP, it backfired, and ended up being a gigantic nightmare for both dealers AND their customers. He's never accepted responsibility, and was (not sure if he still does) shitting all over people and CSC over on the CGN.

she will run her mouth about you having guns to her family, especially if she is excited to go try shooting. she has keys to your place and general knowledge of when you aren't home. her relatives have access to her place and will be able to get that knowledge out of her with seemingly inconsequential chat over time, they will be able to make copies of the keys without her ever finding out

her delinquent sons/nephews and/or their street criminal friends are going to steal your guns within a year or two after she leaves your service (sooner, if they are really stupid and don't care about the obvious suspicion a robbery would cast on her). if they have criminal friends or have substance abuse problems, they might not even wait until you're out of the house.

the Chinese corner store of Canadian firearms market, Tenda, of couse. see their Federal Estate buckshot deals and whatever that Italian bird shot is, forget the name.
*no brainier if you're in or around GTA area and can drive to the store. I don't know how much they'd charge for shipping what is obviously a large and heavy package

otherwise, if you need shipping and can't get a low quote from Tenda, look at what Canada Ammo has in stock, they regularly have Dominion-brand ammo that some slav factories make for them in slavlands
*add more shit to your order until it's over 200 before tax, then shipping is free, no matter how heavy the shit you want them to ship is or how far you are

This. In Dec 2010 the RCMP contemplated on charging me with 7 counts of a prohibited device: seven 25 rnd mags for an M&P15-22. I tell people that thee RCMP quietly reclassified it as prohibited because the company called them "pistol mags." Banned for "public safety" but the 100 rnd drum for it is no problem. :-/

not to be a dick, but you're wrong in this case, purely mathematically.
let's look at their deals on the same bang-for-buck bulk 00 Federal Estate, comparing apples to apples:

https://www.alflahertys.com/collections/ammunition/products/12-gauge-estate-cartridge-buckshot-00-buck-2-3-4-shell-metal-can-of-175-shells-i127n00ac
>Al Flaherty's: 175 shells for 148.99
that's 85 cents per shell

https://www.gotenda.com/shop/ammunition/bulk-ammo/federal-estate-12ga-2-34-00-buck-250rdscase/
>Tenda: 250 shells for 179.99
that's 72 cents per shell

not that it's relevant, but the price on Flaherty's is an actual sale, it will only last week or two; the price on Tenda says it's a sale price, but it's been the same for over a year already and dropped 10 or 15 bucks once when they had Boxing Week and was an actual sale on most bulk ammo

Flaherty's is a good place to keep checking, they once had American Eagel 5.56 boxes of 120 that were cheaper by almost $10 than anywhere else (not for long though)
just like CanAm is good for the occasional Chinese new production 7.62x39
but in terms of on-average lowest prices, Tenda is usually on top

*if you want to be super-autistic, you can argue that Flaherty's price on Super Speed Winchester #7.5 birdshot is $72 per 250 rounds, while the lowest comparable price at Tenda is $89 for the same amount of Super Target Clever Miracge. but you'd be comparing apples to oranges, as one is notoriously bottom of the barrel, unreliable, prone to failure to extract due to their headstamps not being brass, performing poorly even in pumps, while the other has good reputation, much better quality for the price and of course brass headstamps.

Quebec REALLY IS "La Belle Province". The whole fucking thing is scenic as fuck. The only problem is that it's filled with Quebecers.
I was born there and raised there. My name is French, I learned both languages in parallel, went to French schools, etc. But just because I *COULD* speak English, I was "L'osti d'Anglais" ("The fuckin' Anglo"). In business, Quebecers are so fucking scummy you would not believe. You always feel like they are trying to screw you BECAUSE THEY ARE. Every Quebecer, no matter how pure-laine, I know who leaves the province for a significant amount of time (Florida doesn't count, since they just surround themselves with other Quebecers there anyway) come back with a completely different outlook on the place. They leave waving a blue and white flag and come back only to have their blood pressure spike as soon as they see the gas/food prices and getting shit service.

In Quebec, you pay the most taxes of anywhere in Canada for a failing infrastructure, uncaring medical system which will watch you slowly fucking die in the ER as you wait over 24 hours for life threatening conditions, but then you get to be really fucking smug because the signs say "ARRET" on them instead of "STOP" even though both are now officially recognized in the French language.

Fuck Quebec. I love it, but it's not fucking worth it. Visit it and then go home to someplace with more sanity.
>>
>>35098933
I hear you. Been to Montreal and it's nice and scenic, but I'll never do more than just visit.

>>
>>35099097
Are you being treated for it right now? If not, how many years ago? If it has been longer than a certain number of years, you don't even need to check the box on your application. Even if you do, you can still get it, though you will likely have to get a form filled out by your doctor saying that you are not a danger to yourself or others.
>>
>>35099095
As an Anglo, there are basically two places you can go that won't give you a TON of shit for it and those are right by the border like Gatineau (where people live in Quebec but work in Ontario or vice-versa) and Montreal (which is just unfriendly to everyone as a whole).

I lived by the Olympic Stadium for a few years and loved taking the subway down to the end of the Green Line and then walking all the way back along the water, going through Old Montreal and stuff. Fucking beautiful.

>>35099097

Go live in a 98% Francophone part of the province and see how it goes for you. They hear you speak English and it's like painting a target on your back. But hey, if you enjoy the place, good for you. I spent the first quarter century of my life there and I'm sick of it.

>be able to say, within complete legal right, "it's a small company; we don't have to do things in french unless people complain"
>still insist that it's a size chart, something that should be strictly numbers, was what got you nailed and not that you probably dodged taxes or were being actively racist to french clients or something

its painfully obvious that you failed to play the game in some way and got owned and are salty. cry harder bitch boy anglo fucker. enjoy hanging with pajeet and abdul-jabar and tyrone chomsky over in toronto at the next BLM meeting you goddamn crypto-yankee failure of a human being. Oh, we did do work in French for our French clients. We did stuff for the STM and Lotto Quebec, for instance. I don't think American companies give much of a shit about the French language, though.
>"small company"
The limit at the time was 50 and they were reducing it to 15. The company had over 500.
>Should strictly be numbers
I didn't realize "THREADS PER INCH" and " CLEARANCE HOLE SIZE" were either numbers or French!

Also, it's pretty funny that you make jokes about firearm ownership in Ontario, since it's substantially easier than in Quebec with shit like a long-gun registry and the Loi9 bullshit for Restricteds.

So basically you broke the law and got owned, lol

>THREADS PER INCH" and " CLEARANCE HOLE SIZE"
it's painfully obvious that this is not actually what got you nailed and probably that you either had french clients that complained, or french workers that complained, or there was some deeper systemic issue than one fucking poster in such a large company

it's obvious that you got owned and are mad because you are bad, and you're fixating on tiny details because you know that looking at the bigger picture of your life in quebec would reveal that it's not a language issue that got you run out, but that you're a fucking asshole shitpump and are totally unlikeable.

getting the language board on your case was just a convenient way for someone you crossed at some point to fuck you over, and it's clear why someone would do that to you: you're an asshole who refuses any personal responsibility for your shitty life

I'm anglo, I barely speak french, and I've never been shit on for my poor french. meanwhile, you somehow gained the nickname "anglo d'osti". you know what was probably the reason? that you're an asshole and "the fucking anglo" was just the handiest way to refer to you since you're probably pretty unremarkable otherwise

> firearm ownership in Ontario,
yeah i guess it would be higher with all the tyrones and pajeets selling guns out of the back of their cars. good luck ever getting a license though, or finding a gun store that isn't currently being firebombed by antifa
>>
>>35100338
my actual experience actually living here currently is that french people will tend to switch to english, because they want to practice their english in the face of it being los lingua franca

but like >>35100349 says, they wont be rude to you and dont mean the switch as an insult; they like that you are trying to assimilate. in fact, ive found that lots of french people really like getting to speak broken english to you, but getting broken french back, so everyone can practice

>>35100350
in rural quebec they just wont understand. they wont respond but not out of sheer hatred, they just dont understand you at all. they might still be thinking "ugh fucking anglo tourist why arent you staying in the city you fuck" (but in french) but for the most part its a genuine lack of understanding of your language

>>35100347
>Having said that Toronto isn't much better.
honestly even if you hate quebec 5ever i think we can all agree that Ontario needs to frig off

if you want to live in a good anglo province, pick from BC (beautiful, but owned by the chinese), Alberta (ugly and boring and no jobs except in resource collection, but >muh guns) or Nova Scotia (basically all the good parts of quebec but no french to trigger you (but lots of fucking abbos though))

does TRANAH have lots of abbos? i feel like abbos is the one thing toronto is missing to be the objective worst city in canada
>>

>>
>>35100578
they don't call it the horse gestapo for no reason.
>>
>>35100578
They're worse because they have all the power of the ATF combined with the FBI and State Troopers and Highway Patrol. If they want to do something about the legal status of a gun or gun part, they just do it. They don't need anyone's permission. They could ban all handguns tomorrow and we the people couldn't do anything but noncompliance.
>>
>>35100578
your question is complex

no one likes the rcmp but it's not the same sort of hatred as that towards american federal police

we hate the rcmp more because the rcmp is utterly incompetent, staffs itself with imported mexicans who can't read or write in any language, and doesnt really do a whole lot of police work that's actually visible to the public. they're just kinda there wasting money and occasionally getting into national incidents that embarrass the country as a whole by being stupid

i guess if you dont have provincial police youll see them a lot on the highway but theyre just going to ticket you so just like only go 110kmh jeez its the transcanada not the fucking autobahn

if you want hatred in the same way as towards the ATF and FBI, look at the SQ and whatever Ontario uses. Not every province has its own provincial police, but they are invariably human filth who exist only to spread misery. the SQ even false-flagged in the G20 riots, they literally borrowed quebecois cops and the quebecois cops went "You know what'd be great? Setting fire to some cop cars so we have an excuse to go bust heads.". even the most flagrantly anti-quebec "canada is ottawa" ontarian hates the ontario provincial police and even Jean-Luc Paul Francois the blue-blooded liberal voter hates the SQ

>>35100629
>They could ban all handguns tomorrow and we the people couldn't do anything but noncompliance.
im pretty sure that they can make amendments to the restricted list with minimal overhead but it still has to be signed off by parliament, and any amendments to the actual Firearms Act have to be made by parliament

and Canada is very much common sense common law so the RCMP trying to write law on that scale would get them btfo by the various other offices above them whose toes theyre stepping on and heads theyre trying to step over. some conservative mp and a gaggle of judges would go personally assault an RCMP office over shit like that i bet, just for taking their jobs
>>
>>35100707
>m pretty sure that they can make amendments to the restricted list with minimal overhead but it still has to be signed off by parliament
not to be a Fudd for still asking about this, but did they need parliment to sign off on making those 10/22 mags prohib?
>>
>>35099951
Nope, but I'm certain I can find one in a parts bin, whether mine or a friends
>>
>>35100729
>did they need parliment to sign off on making those 10/22 mags prohib?
I dunno, I don't follow shit that doesn't apply to me, I don't give a fuck about 10/22s

I'm fairly certain that there's some kind of review process though, they can't just randomly declare things prohibited without good reason and they cant violate standing law either

first result on google
>http://www.guns.com/2016/07/19/oh-canada-1022-rifle-mags-capable-of-more-than-10-rounds-may-be-prohibited-audio/
>all magazines for the 10/22 capable of loading more than 10 rounds are now considered prohibited.
>From what we have been told at the moment, these large capacity magazines will fit certain specific handguns (pistols) thereby creating a situation where the pistol capacity now exceeds the 10 round limit on handguns.

mag limits are bullshit but it checks out within the framework of the firearms act and seems more like "hey this device violates the law as it was written decades before this thing came out! fuckin' mod it!" rather than "hey we don't like this device because it raped my dad when I was 12! so it violates the law now!" fuckin' mod it!"

it also reeks of misunderstanding of what makes something prohibited or restricted; once prohib or restricted, not always so. from the rcmp site:
>Example 2*: The Ruger BX-25 magazine, chambered for 22 LR calibre, is designed and manufactured for use in the Ruger SR22 rifle, the 10/22 family of rifles/carbines and the 22 Charger handgun. As a result, this magazine is a prohibited device unless modified so its capacity is 10 cartridges or less. (*This information was not included in the original version of this bulletin, but was added on 2013-09-05.)[sic]

so you can still get Those Ten Twenty Two mags but have to put a pin in, like any other mag.

mag limits are dumb but take a breath and calm down and at least try to google shit before freaking out
>>
>>35100794
I'll admit when I was wrong, thanks for explaining that to me. Does that mean that there's really no way to pin it because to pin it you'd have the "modifying a gun mag" law or you'd have to give it to a gunsmith and they'd (assuming they follow the law, which we all know they don't 24/7) phone you in for a prohib device. It sounds like you can't win there
>>
>>35100825
are you american? im not even insulting for once but you sound american, taking a very much too rigid understanding of summaries of the law and image macros and memes off of arfcom rather than trying to understand the final state that the law wishes to achieve

you shouldnt import one of these mags, because its prohibited. you shouldnt have one under normal conditions anyway. but if you happened to own one before, you yourself can pin it, or take it to a gunsmith to be pinned. the illegal part of modifying weapons is modifying them to be restricted or prohibited. sawing down a shotgun into an ssg or mares leg or whatever would be illegal, but fitting a new longer stock to one would not be amiss at all

the rcmp page even specifically says that if its been modified, the part becomes not prohibited anymore. im not up on my firearms act and im a 10.1 Bleue deep but my guess is itd maybe be restricted since itd be like a pistol mag?? but RPALs are given out like candy these days anyway so who cares, theyre literally cheaper and easier to get than drivers licenses or passports
>>
>>35100899
Interesting... and nope, not American, just raised around Fudds who have only taught me about muh ruger and muh browning .308 my entire life. So forgive me for misunderstanding but I was just trying to get some clarification.
>>
>>35100918
idk man you can just go to the RCMP site, it's pretty clear about most stuff and googling it (as in using the "site: " proword on google search) can easily get you details on a lot of things very easily

again, its all bullshit worth hating on, but its not random or arbitrary and generally works within the framework of previous bullshit that in turn always has to fall in line with the firearms act
>>
>>35100578

Check it out. This is the complete rundown on the situation, including documents, FRT's and correspondence.

CSC's been completely transparent about the process. JR, on the other hand, never produced any corroborating documentation from his side of the argument. He's continued to shit on CSC, talk shit about their products, and deny responsibility.

His own E-mails reveal he wasn't even sure about some of the allegations he leveled against them. He brought the RCMP in to fuck his competitor and former associate. Then, when it backfired, he denied he was responsible.

JR and the TSE as a whole are dirtbags and should not be welcome in the Canadian Shooting Community.

I think Canada as SBR laws. I think you can't make your own SBR if I'm reading the law right. Prohibited firearms include: Rifles and shotguns that have been altered by sawing, cutting or any other means, so that:
the barrel length is inferior to 457 millimetres (18.0 in) (regardless of overall length), or;
the overall length is inferior to 660 millimetres (26 in) Restricted firearms are: That has a barrel length inferior to 470 millimetres (18.5 in), and
is capable of operating in a semi-automatic manner
Any firearm that can be fired when the overall length has been reduced by folding, telescoping, or other means to less than 660 millimetres (26 in)

Thinking about getting my R/PAL sometime soon, but something super important that I've been thinking about. What are the minimum requirements for a "secure, sturdy container"? Does it seriously have to be a 100kg+ safe that costs several hundred dollars, or will pretty much anything do? What can I expect to pay for a "bare minimum" safe? Even if they weren't required, I'd probably still want some kind of locking container, but since they are, I'd like to not get reamed by the horse gestapo for not storing my inalienable rights properly.
>>
Why are our laws so convoluted?

I have my RPAL and I am thinking of getting an AR15 but I have this fear that if I build or modify a pre-built, the RCMP are going to ass rape me because I made some School Shooter homage with a front grip, single stage trigger and a muzzle brake so now the gun is illegal or some bullshit.

Why can't we just have a list of criteria that a restricted gun must fall into?
>>
>>35106045
No expert here but you'll probably be fine as long as you don't get a barrel and/or stock so short it falls into "prohibited" territory. There's some pretty particular criteria for a weapon that isn't banned by name to be prohibited. It only has to meet one, but they're all pretty easy to avoid. OAL and barrel length must be so much, no full fun, no mags larger than 5rds for semiauto rifles, you can't saw it down, so on and so forth.
>mfw I learn ARs were going to be prohib but they saw too much use in sport shooting and service rifle competitions
Thanks, sport-shooters. You saved handguns, too.

Another great example is the number of regular ordinary citizens ccwing regardless of the law, one i started carryinf and figured out all the ques anf what to look for, i noticed a shitload of people carrying, and 9 times out of 10, its some older dude who we'd call a fudd

What an interesting read, I feel like I finally have the full picture now. I'm honestly not surprised that the CEO of TSE is a scumbag, I always kind of figured it. No matter what his intentions were, squealing to the RCMP about a rifle that's exactly the same as yours and fighting to aid it's reclassification is fucking stupid. We have enough trouble with our firearms laws, we don't need company in-fighting to get more shit reclassified.

Although I really, really have to ask, do you work at CSC?

Theyre all subconscious ques like Looking down at your waist alot, tugging at your shirt, adjusting your waist more than normal, often times youll actually grab the gun to adjust it or make sure its secure without even thinking. And from the outside, someone looking at you while your all fidgety could think your suspicious, and when ccwing in Canada, or at all really, you want to avoid any suspicion that you may be armed, thankfully in Canada since most people dont carry, they dont notice these ques as much, but other gun owners, gunstore employees or police might

Because I need to overcompensate. Aesthetically I like the 20" barrel. The only disadvantage is weight. How much heavier than a 16"?

Plus the military used 20" all the way up to 2000s, and got rid of them because they're harder to maneuver in/out of vehicles.

It's cheap because they overproduced in anticipation for panic-buying that never happened since the Dems didn't win the federal election, not because of quality.
Just buy an upper of the length you want. Most ARfags end up with so many spare components they could put together a couple frankenguns. It's part of the scene.

Welcome to Canada. Everything you want to do is illegal, everything is ridiculously expensive, nothing ships anywhere and if it does it costs more than the item in question, criminals have more rights than good citizens, and we have """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""free"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" healthcare.

All it would really take would be to strike the line regarding classification via OIC from the criminal code, and that would accomplish most of it. To fully comply with the resolution would also require removing the semi auto rifle/shotgun barrel length regs too.
