Palm Beach County here, I've got over 60 gallons of Zephyrhills, pantry and fridges full of food, two 5000 Watt generators, propane, plenty of gas, batteries, and funs and ammo. Also plywood and shutters. I also fortunately live away from the city.
>>

Nice job my man. Im in Miami Beach. I can see the ocean from mah window. Just gonna stock water, toilet paper and canned goods. Hope water dont get to the 3rd floor.
>>
Tallahassee reporting in. I'm up here for school but the moment the storm starts heading towards the state people are gonna start heading to their various homes for safety, so I'll probably ride it out here. Gonna go out tomorrow after class and buy water and canned goods. Any recommendations?

Probably top off my ammo supply too. Gonna buy some SKS food and make sure I got enough 5.56. Between the capitol building and the ghettos are student housing, with my apartment isolated a bit, so worse case scenario things might get.... Zulu-y.
>>
>>35074361
pasco county, probably around 30 gallons of water, 30 gallons of gas, 2 generators, 60 lbs of propane, months and months of food. i have shutters but i'm reluctant to put them up because i'd never take them down after. i could use some more ammo.
>>

I thought Irma was suppose to be worst than Harvey? The news keeps reporting that it's getting stronger and stronger. Texas might have it easier than what's about to go down.

Pretty great. Shall issue CCWs, pretty cheap guns, great places to shoot in Central and North Florida; South Florida is more over a bunch of indoors and the Everglades, but you'd need a boat or a serious off roading rig to get out deep enough to not get shit.
>>
>>35074447
Only Puerto Rico is in the direct path (or at least by current predictions). Florida will get hit but not by the strongest part of the storm. PR on the other hand is probably gonna become the new Haiti, and unfortunately we never got rid of it so it's now sort of our problem.

Convenience plus those filters can't filter everything out. Plenty of chemicals that could get through that filter. Not a huge concern in the backwoods from a relatively clean source but pretty big concern in an urban area from some nasty ass flooded ditch with runoff from god knows where.
>>
>>35078087
if water is shut off, once you drink the contents of your toilet tanks and condensation pans you have to go find a water source to filter. around here all the water is brackish at best which won't filter.

Put up the shutters anon. If you have sliding doors and are lazy about putting them on, put up enough shutters per sliding door to cover them while leaving enough of an opening of one or two shutter sections to get in and out. Finish mounting those last panels a few hours before the squalls start hitting. Buy extra wingnuts and bolts now, those things break and rust enough that having spares is worthwhile, you'll find out how many do you need while putting on the shutters.

If you have a second floor, do those shutters completely first and leave them on until the storm is completely over.

Or go down to your local home improvement megastore, buy some trash cans/ buckets, clean them, and fill them up with water from the tap. Or use rubbermaid buckets, or milk jugs, or fill up coolers, and so on ad nauseam. There is no excuse to run out of water. If your imagination and self preservation instincts are that stunted, you deserve to be culled.

Dunno if you're familiar with the area, but when I was younger my parents would say "pack up the (old house) we're gonna stay in a hotel"

"Amateurs study tactics- but professionals study logistics"

To get started:
Walmart has 35 (bottle) count cases of water for UNDER $3.00!
If you need one- you need two or three...

Next, I'd buy the Overstuffed Ravioli- it's actually almost passable and in a pinch you can eat it cold.
And some of the flavored tuna fish in a pouch.
Add some rice, peanut butter and a cheap loaf or 3 of bread.
Grab some plastic utensils from the deli/C store or fast food restaurants.
Throw in some fruit cocktail cups and you're fairly well stocked for an overnight evac/stay in a shelter/innacar etc.

Best of luck from Texas to whomever is in the path of Irma.

PRO TIP- BUY GAS NOW!! BUY BIG GAS CANS AND EXTRA GAS AND ADD STABILIZER.

I'm STILL seeing stations out of gas in the central TX area ...

cab companies have had to shut down, pizza deliveries in the major cities are coming to a halt...
>>
>>35077871
Wait. What exactly do all those colored lines mean? I live in East Tennessee and a bunch of them are coming straight for me. Should I be worried? I never worried about hurricanes before, but ny and jersey and the est coast got fucked by sandy a few years back. Should I worry and stock up?
>>

Turkey Point survived Andrew back in '92, which had winds of 175 mph. The containment buildings for the plant can withstand winds over 230 mph.

Windspeed 185mph and increasing. God help anyone caught in 200 mph plus winds.
>>
>>35082043
Question is where does irma top out at.
Also irma is physically larger then andrew and is displacing mire water much like sandy leading to higher floods.
Also irma is now the most powerful storm recorded in the atlantics known history.

The cheapest and best lightweight emergency/backpacking stove is literally made from a cat food can with some holes punched around the side. It probably the favorite of the people that hike the Appalachian Trail.
It will run on alcohol, but HEET is better, burns clean and is easy to find. There are tons of articles, videos and templates available free if you want detailed instructions. "cat food can stove"

rice
soups
overstuffed ravioli
fruit coctails
jerky
dried fruit
tuna
peanut butter
bread
M&M's
snickers
Clif Bars
juice boxes/shakes etc

Vermont and West Virginia got fucked up by Sandy. Are you in a low lying area or a valley? Do you know where your 100 year flood level is? Are there any trees that could fall on your house? Could a washed out bridge strand you? If the answer to all of these is no, just make sure your genny has enough gas to run a freezer and your sump pump for a while. If you answered yes, start planning for those contingencies.

THIS
I learned this lesson te hard way on a camping trip recently...I didn't have an easy way to boil water, so I had to fucking chop wood and make a fire if I wanted a cup of coffee.
Protip: you also need a french press/chinky coffee filter/instant coffee way to make coffee.

hobo stove from a can if you have wood/fuel

catfood can stove

prolevel- propane or butane stove ( they start at $20- buy extra cans of fuel when you get the stove)

Get some batteries- I like rechargeables. You can get solar panels for a phone or back up batter 'bank' for around $10
Don't forget to charge your phone and your back up batter for it ahead or time.

Do you have a raincoat or flectarn poncho?? Maybe some rubber boots?

BUY GAS.

Clean your tub and use it to store water!!
I can hold like 60+ gallons.
You can also you it to store the water you can pour in the toilet tank to flush it if you loose water pressure. (Use a 5 gallon bucket/large pot whatever to scoop it out)
A flush toilet will make your life MUCH better than trying to shit in a bucket or the back yard.

You can also drink the water if the tub is clean. Like bleach the tub and rinse realllly well before you fill it. Keep the dirty shower curtain out of it.

Thanks anon. I'm not too worried, just looking at that pic gave me a bit of a wtf moment. I have some old college friends that got fucked up by sandy in NY and being in TN, or the east coast for that matter, you don't tend to think about hurricanes.

I live on a hill across from a small river but East Tennessee is basically a bunch of small valleys due to the "rolling hills of TN"

I'll have to check on the flood level, thanks for that tip. We had a big storm a couple years ago that took out some trees so we had any within striking distance of the house removed. A bridge wouldn't but one of the roads to the house goes by the river and I could see it getting washed out. The other road is an industrial parkway and could potentially flood I guess. I'll take those contingencies in mind and stock up. Thanks again.

Anyone have any details on those lines? Could it really hit as far as TN in a worse case scenario?

Thoughts and prayers to you Florida anons. Stock up and seek safety.

I'm >>35083816 and while a long gun may be useful if you're defending yourself in your home during the disaster, having a pistol you are proficient in using effectively that can be concealed is much more effective. Being able to conceal a firearm on you while you're bunkering down in your home then being able to walk out the door for whatever reason just as armed in my opinion outweighs the benefits of a long arm's effectiveness in fighting.

I would sooner only own a compact or fullsize 9mm than a 12GA or 5.56 rifle. This extends to everyday normal life as well, not only a disaster situation.

Excellent image info. Thank you.

Some I too am down for school like the last person. To thst student I recommend also getting some:

1. Water purification tablets

2. As someone mentioned a way to heat your food if you want some hot meals (hot meals can be a morale booster). Check out big box stores and get some 'fat wood'. That stuff burns hot and for some time and used for starting fireplace fires or for the backpacking crowd csmp fires as it is high in resin and will still work if wet.

2. 2 X 24 bottles of 500ml water and 10 x 1gallon jugs of water at Walmart.

3. If going with tuna get some flavor variety. Like cloverleaf (OK, I think that is a Canadian brand and yes, Canuck here) lemon pepper tuna (good imho) , sun-dried tomato tuna, and thai chili tuna work well.

Get pasta and instant rice. Figure 1" diameter O of pasta per day (about 2-3 servings).

If you have a wide mouth thermos (I recommend 750mL minimum size) you can cook oatmeal, pasta, stew, and chili in there. Google 'thermos cooking' which will save fuel.

4. Get a wide mouth food thermos

My approx cooktimes are:

Pasta (fettachini)- boil water, add pasta, wait for reboil, let boil for 1min, add to thermos, wait 15-20mins.

If you boil 2-3mins then you can shorten the thermos cook time but adjust yourself. Better a little soggy if you time is off then half cooked. I found I always got aldente or but a bit over. Test yourself and write cook times down, put in zip bag, tape to thermos.

Houstonfag here. Kinda wonder what would happen too. My house is in a good spot, so didn't get flooded out even though other nearby areas did. Power didn't go off, so didn't have to get into my emergency supplies. Pic related. Not shown is about 20 gallons of drinking water.
>>
5. Instead of fatwood you can make your own alcohal popcan stove. YouTube 'survival Lilly' or the 'cat/tuna stove'. Go to painting Dept and look for 'methyl hydrate' or automotive look for yellow bottle of HEET. What you are buying is methanol. Home depot has 1quart for iirc less then $5cdn. 1oz of fuel will boil 2 cups of water in a usgi stainless steel canteen cup and still hold a boil for approx 2-4mins pending windscreen/wind. You can do 1 cup pasta to 1cup water in a thermos if you want to stretch the water supply. The water/steam will cook the pasta if low on water. Mix tuna into pasta and enjoy.

>as a Californian who doesnt understand how knee how water can kill people and be such a fatal threat

Most deaths in these disasters aren't from the actual water. It's from shit like leaving a generator on indoors.
>>
>>35084354
>how knee how water can kill people
>why do you guys all buy tons of water bottles
The answer to both of these is that water is heavy. Even knee high water moving at a relatively moderate speed has a lot of energy. I can't find it now but there was a study that even an average athletic man can't hold his ground in waist high water moving 5mph (I think that was the speed). Also, water is heavy to carry around, so being able to throw a few bottles in a bag or whatever is pretty handy if you have to GTFO.

Same thing as a Kelly kettle. It's for boiling water only. Same with the Swiss Volcano Stove. Cheapest thing to do is just buy a canteen cup stove and an alcohol burner. It's cheap and easy to use. You can also burn wood and esbit tablets in the stove. You could always get an esbit stove too though and stock up on tablets for it. I like the emergency ones for homemade MRE's. They fold up and have three heat tablets. Each tab burns for around ten minutes and boils water in around 4 minutes. I like esbit stoves. They've got the pocket stoves too which fold up, but the pocket stoves last a whole lot longer.

The thermos idea seems pretty good.

And pasta and tuna is super easy, very filling and tasty.

Poorfag survival food:
pasta - cook as usual
olive oil- heat and add garlic to make the sauce
garlic or garlic powder for sauce
add a can of tuna, some salt and pepper and enjoy. The flavored tunas also work well.
Could also add a small can of peas to include some veggies.

You are not going to win a shooting contest when the police/nasty girls have rolled up to your door with ARs.

And if you do win that shootout, you have just forfeit your entire house and identity that you needed those guns to defend in the first place, because they know exactly who and where the fuck you are. You would need to disappear. It is very, very rare for someone to survive such an encounter and then win the following court case vs the officers - and it would be an enormous drain on your already precious time and resources that are being bent over the table by the impending wrath of god.

Corrupt as fuck or not, you are actively killing the very people that will eventually be responsible for whatever normality returns after your shithole has had a proper natural disaster enema.

You are not going to be anyone's hero.

That doesn't necessarily mean you have to surrender your firearms. It just means they can't know they're there, or must be turned away. Which is where, as >>35083933 points out, a CCable pistol is at big advantage. It is much easier to conceal, and can come with you when you leave the house to go do whatever. Versus the long arm, which would be taken off you if not get you shot.

I think the long arm is worth bothering with, though. Particularly when you're bugging in, and have little reason to leave your premises.

It is also worth noting that you should really conceal anything of particular utility or value that you want to keep in these kinds of scenario. If the relief force decide that you have more than you need, they will take it off of you to use for the rest of the relief effort. It is in your interest to be friendly and establish a good relationship with them when they arrive so they won't think of you first when they're deciding whose generator they're going to eminent domain to meet the ever growing power needs.

It's not fair or right, but it is how such things are conducted.
