I love all working breed dogs but am partial to labs.
My gsd is hyper vigilante and observant. She notices if anything is out of place. I'm talking things as small as having a water bowl moved a few inches out of normal position type observant. If a tree branch is sitting a few feet lower than normal her eyes will not come off of it until shes satisfied it isn't a threat of some sort.

My other dog is basically a cuddle buddy with the personality of a golden retriever. No barks no growls only love and being happy.

He was never the most energetic dog, at least not after the second year or so, but he's a good bro. Very friendly and easy to handle, and protective of the /k/at, doesn't mind loud noises, infinitely patient. Growing up in rural New York state, I had two battle buddies - Damien and Santana, sibling brothers from same litter.

I knew them since they were 3 months old - friends of my parents had to move to England, so hey, 2 free GSDs.

At 5-7 years old, my parents would let me roam around our 70 acres of woods for hours, knowing the doggos would shred any threat, or pull a Lassie if I got hurt.

Didn't need a leash, utterly obedient and devoted to me. Damien would sleep next to me, Santana, under the bed, except in thunderstorms where he'd puppy pile on top of both of us shivering.

Then, we had to move to a place where we couldn't have dogs. They went to our neighbors - really great folks, but try explaining that to a 7 year old. I was heartbroken, and it still hurts to this day.

Nope. European. Well, my parents are from Europe. I was born in States.

They had dogs, for security, and NEVER inside the house. Mean motherfuckers too, had long probably 40' chains. Relatives still have dogs (for security) but more social now, ie no chains and walk around inside the fence line and will bark the fuck up and probably bite.

They never let them inside the house. Me, I let my GSD in the house but he has his own sleeping area near the door the goes to the garage and basement. He is NOT allowed to climb on furniture or anything. He may walk around the house but knows his spot.

Occasionally when we go out to a steak house for dinner, I have the waiter back the bones of our meal for the dog. He loves it, but it gives him the runs. What's wrong with Eukanuba? The breeder/trainer I got him from uses it on all his dogs and he trains K9 for Sheriffs & Police in the North East. His wife has a separate biz that trains for medical assistance (service dogs for blind people, etc) and she also uses it.
