I've been thinking about how I would navigate this situation semi-regularly lately as I live in a college town, what's worse I live above a business in a big open-air shopping district thing, so if there was going to be a riot anywhere but campus it would be there. I have three basic plans:

I live in New Orleans. In the flash flood a few weeks ago I was stuck in a row of hundreds of cars in about two feet of water, no one was moving except a lifted NOPD military surplus truck with armed cops riding in the back of the bed (looked just like pic related). The truck was was high up enough to drive through the right lane where the water was deeper, while all the civilian cars and trucks were in the leftmost lane where it was a bit shallower. A lot of people had their engines flooded out, and even more people were afraid to drive, so it was basically a parking lot.

The NOPD truck clipped some guy's Ford F150 and took off his side mirror. The guy in the ford leaned out his window and shouted "you hit my truck mutha fuka!"

The (black) cop driving leaned out and said "I *WHAT* nigga?", did that thing blacks do where they suck their teeth in derision, and then drove off.

That's what this city is.

>set up mirrors looking out the window to not expose yourself or jury rig a parascope too peek the windows
>use whatever else you can find to fortify entrances
>check windows for rioters but do not reveal yourself

Useless for this scenario and ill tell you why. What im assuming by OPs pic is a scenario like ferguson or baltimore where if you own a house thats withing the vicinity of the riots and the riots spread into your neighborhood and evetually the police are pushed back and you are stuck in the middle. If that happens an armed patrol is going to be useless because martial law will be put down and NO ONE comes in or out (except for the trouble makers and rioters). When martial law is put down they lock up that place tighter than the legs of a virgin in vegas. There is absolutely no way they would allow anyone out let alone with guns without shooting. At least thats what Ferguson was like and it was hell on earth trying to get into the city for work.
