Are these imports?
>>
>>34971027
Kinda. The upper is imported but they have US made barrels to skirt around import laws form gun parts. all of the other parts are from Taiwan out of the same factory that makes them for the military. the gas block is the police variant so they can sell them in states that have issues with bayonet lugs.
>>
>>34971063
Interesting. Was hoping they'd get cheaper but they've been steady at $600. I'd be disappointed if they stopped offering them.
>>
>>34971084
compared to the other piston offerings out there $600 isn't a bad deal. its a good upper and shoots anything I put through it. the only malfunction I ever had was when a primer blew out into the barrel extension and got caught in between the locking recesses and the bolt locking lugs.

I'd be tempted to get one just for the collectibility of it. Do the Taiwanese also use a 16 inch barrel or do they use a 14.5 profile?

they use 16 inchers. The barrel is US made but it has the correct profile of a legit Taiwanese military one.

I prefer the look of the standard T91 handguard, although something that'd dissipate heat better would be nice.

>>34978013
Still looks like the same single-piece, military style integrated gas block sight.

The law enforcement style that Wolf imports has a dovetailed front sight, so it is removable. I've also seen a picatinny rail section screwed into where the grenade launcher leaf sight would mount (the purple screw holes), so you could essentially switch to all flip-up irons.

$600 is cited unit cost for T91 so it's actually a solid deal.
>>
>>34978920
lolwut I don't know where you got that from, but there has been plenty of news coverage of the export to Wolf.

English:
https://youtu.be/cnO1MOlr4PQ
www,chinapost,com,tw/taiwan/foreign-affairs/2017/04/11/495338/made-in-taiwan-rifle.htm

Chinese:
https://youtu.be/rsjnw9knFiA
Also goes into murrican gun culture in general
https://youtu.be/Eg2x4zmG40s

The Taiwanese military budget is low because they don't want to stir up too much shit against mainland China. They still have compulsory military training and service today for males when they reach 19 years of age. They don't get to keep their rifles when they're done, like the Swiss do, and Taiwan's gun laws are pretty much the same as all the other Asian nations (noguns). So they really don't have anyone else to sell guns to, and considering their previous times selling the T91 at a loss as barter for oil, the current price for it is much better for monetary profit.
>>
is it possible to SBR this bitch and adjust gas regulator to fit new length? that barrel length makes this gun look so unironically russian/unaesthetic.

>>
>>34980985
So what's your point? It doesn't cost them $600 to build a T91?
>>
>>34982068
Just further explaining why their military budget is low and also that they don't have much of an outlet to offload produced rifles. The cost of producing each rifle is definitely much less than $600. Should SHTF with mainland/North Korea, I wouldn't doubt their ability to arm their entire able-bodied populace who have gone through conscription training with T91s.

The imported ones aren't, not that it matters to much. Chrome lining is nice but nitriding is durable enough to keep the barrel from corroding and its not exactly like you need to worry about corrosive .223 ammo.

the barrel nut is proprietary but otherwise it can be swapped just like any other ar15 barrel. as far as getting a new barrel with the right gas port length, diameter, and barrel thickness idk.

it comes with that brownish hue too it, kinda like the safety on a Bulgarian makarov. its also covered in clp and was just at the range so it was a bit dirty.

will this, or a 308 version, reliably cycle russian ammo? that is the question.
>>
>>34992099

I've shot plenty of tula out of mine, including 55 and 62 grn. Both fmjs and hps. all of them shot fine. As a matter of fact the only malfunction I've ever had with the gun was when shooting Israeli surplus m193 ammo, and a primer blew out into the barrel extension and got caught in between the locking recesses and the bolt locking lugs. That had nothing to do with the gun of course and and rifle would have jammed from that kind of ammo malfunction. As for a .308 version I highly doubt one will ever come into being as these are based off of and use the same factory and tooling as the T-91 rifle. Of which there is no .308 equivalent.

Forgot to mention, the current batch of T91s seem to have a plain A2 birdcage flash hider. If you want the combination compensator/flash hider, there's one guy who sells it on eBay. It's legit, been using it on mine. Also, it's supposed to have the holes in the 12-3 o'clock position.

They are using both the birdcage one without the break holes and the one with them. They're both T91 flash hiders just some are older models.
