Is the CZ in pic related an SBR? Also is this shopped, or can insta account be private because i cant find any of the accounts in the pic.

Im almost completely certain the guy who sent it to me was an ATF agent since he gave me the henry in the pic for a 180$ 870 Police magnum. He showed up to the trade in a blacked out charger, and he asked me if I knew anyone who could chop it down "on the DL". He brought the CZ pictured in the same Molle bag as the henry and made sure i got a good look at during the trade. I told him to do it himself but make sure he got the stamps and he replied "yeah yeah, maybe"

Was he just a shithead or an ATF agent?

Yes it's an SBR. It's the CZ Scorpion Evo pistol with the stock folding brace attached.

So a guy who sent me a pic of an SBR, and showed it to me in person asked me if I could commit a felony, with a cheapo shotgun.

2 Questions:

1. Kind of a stupid question, but I just don't know the answer to is if you order a firearm online, have it shipped to FFL dealer for transfer, could the dealer just keep the firearm? Surely having the receipt and order number, etc I'd be able to claim it as stolen, right?
>"Hi, I'm Anon, I'm here to pick up my rifle"
>Anon? Anon who? I don't know any Anon, or have a rifle??

2. I recently moved from Alabama to Iowa. I got new DL, new Concealed Carry permit, but my Alabama one is still good for many years. If I move back to Alabama to the same address, would it still be valid once I got new Alabama DL?

Yes, in the same way that if you bought an item in a store with cash, the clerk could just pocket it and claim you never gave him anything.

But why? What do they have to gain? The risk:reward ratio is way too high.
>>
>>34885139
Military naming conventions. "A" means "alteration" and is used for approved/accepted items. "E" is for experimental version. The X at the beginning of a model number also indicates that it's experimental.
>>
>>34885229
So 'E' is mostly used in prototypes? How come the M60E3 has 'E' in it even though it's not a prototype?

If you're equating damage to foot pounds of energy, probably the two smaller bullets. Since velocity contributes more to energy than mass does, 2 smaller bullets accelerate to a greater velocity than the single larger bullet would have a sum greater energy. This is making the assumption that you wouldn't be able to get the larger bullet to as great of a velocity due to concerns of chamber pressure being too great.

How does API blowback work? I get that it uses the bolt moving forward and detonating the primer before fully chambering to reduce bolt mass and recoil, but what I don't get is how the primer is actually detonated. Wouldn't the cartridge just get pushed forward with little energy on the primer until it fully chambers?

Guys I have a question, I'm looking for a carbine that is simple in maintenance, has few small parts ( that need replacing/cleaning ) and yet is still somewhat modular as an AR, and allows for me to replace barrels myself.
I'm thinking I need to look towards pistol caliber carbines for that simplicity as I'm trying to move away a little bit from ARs, but AKs are not modular enough. Is there a proper inbetween ? I dislike the smaller parts like the rollers on the BCG of an HK94 so there goes that option.

Additionally, cased firearms are usually in a different world than uncased firearms. Any cops that may give you a problem would be out of line considering you are attempting to follow the law to the best of your ability with a long gun which is not generally concealable.

Generally, having a case of some sorts or a backpack will be your best bet.

An AR generally will not need small parts replaces in the near future. If/when it does, they are easy to work on and replace. If you want modularity and ease of replacement, an AR is your best bet. Go SCR for non-scary assault rifle

No, I'll just get a regular AR then.
I just sent a mail to CMMG asking about the lower receivers of their 22 rifles.
Currently I'm thinking, if their lowers are compatible with 5.56x45 upper receivers, I'd consider doing the paperwork for a complete 22 rifle of them and get a more expensive 5.56 one later and have receivers to mix and match and possibly use one rifle for parts of the lower receiver ( even though this probably won't ever be necessary ) in case the other one malfunctions. I'd just need to find a way to stock up on gas rings, firing pins and other small shit to avoid the several months waiting if something does need replacing in the future then. Although looking at military maintenance plannings, and considering it won't have to deal with fully automatic fire, my parts would probably last a few thousand rounds.

It's not exactly hard. I have an old ruined deep dish kinda pan in front of a piece of cardboard; things that hit it don't have the energy to come back out. so there's always mashed up flattened pellets in it after having some fun.

I was just wondering because longer pellets don't seem to exist.

Mauser 98k actions are large rings. Large rings can be identified by the cutout as seen in pic related.

Most of your older Mausers, Spanish 93, Swedish 96, etc. are small rings. A large ring Mauser has a larger diameter on the receiver ring than a short ring. 1.4 inches for a large ring, 1.3 inches for a small ring.

Get some easy outs. Should be able to get them at a hardware store. They will destroy the screw, so if you want them out, that's an option.

Just so you know, that addition destroyed any collector value the gun has. Even if it's in correct configuration. Shouldn't hurt the gun as far as shooting goes though.

whats a good starter blackpowder revolver, rifle for cheap?
>>
>>34895810
What do you want to do with it? For a revolver, I recommend a Pietta Remington 1858. If you have to have a Colt repro, please avoid any ones that have brass frames, the brass arbor will stretch with shooting, and the gun will eventually stretch itself out of spec.

For a rifle, do you want traditional or inline? Do you have any preferences about the rifle, Colonial, Mountain Man, Civil War? Flint or percussion? Caliber?
>>
>>34895869
i just want to dick around and occasionally shoot some cans without a license, and the process of reloading seems pretty neat. i WOULD prefer being able to fire more then one shot at a time, so for a rifle some sort of blackpowder double barrel shotgun.

no originals because im basically gonna be fud-tier. i noticed theres no barrel length requirement for blackpowder so i want a super short shotgun maybe. outside of that i dont know a whole lot about blackpowder so cheap so i can just try it out and if i like it ill get more into it.

a minor final note, it takes a shitload to accidentally load one so it would be fun to have on my desk to mess with

You can make due with some pyrodex, balls of the correct caliber, wads, primers and a powder measure for under $100 for 100 rounds, and you'll still have powder left over. Black powder guns aren't cheaper to shoot than a 9mm pistol, but it's always fun to break out the smoky Civil War revolvers.

Either of these will be fine, a pound of Pyrodex and you're ready to shoot.

Black powder shotguns tend to come expensive, I'd say start with a rifle you like for cheap. Try a pawn shop, black powder rifles have horrible resale value, so a used one that doesn't have a rusted bore would be a good way to get into it.

Don't forget the basics like powder flask/horn, powder measure, balls, patches, powder, primers, short starter, nipple wrench and pick, and a bag for all that shit.

>>
>>34896917
finicky for function or finicky for accuracy?

Most aguila will work in most 10/22 but they have a wide selection of ammo. On the low power end, the colibri lines won't cycle a typical 10/22, and may even become a squib in a longer barrel. On the other end, their hyper velocity Interceptor may beat up your action. Just use a plastic/rubber buffer (which I always recommend anyway).

If you're talking about accuracy, sometimes a rifle will work really well with a specific kind (and even possibly a specific lot number) of ammo and others will shoot horribly. Typically, you just have to try them to see what works and what doesn't.

You could always pull the slug and powder out.

Why do you need a bayonet? Also, what kind of Bowie knife?

Assuming you're using the Bowie for hand to hand combat, you'd be better served with a general camp utility knife in lieu of a bayonet.

Also, what kind of environment?

bullets are finite, I am one person. bayonets got reach. James Black and Jim Bowie meant for the Bowie knife to be an all purpose knife for skinning, whittling and killing.

Humid 9 months out of the year. I've been in plenty of places where it has gone down to 13 F at a way too often rate.
I can see 15 minutes of suburb outside my window and then literal wilderness.

Nofuns here:

Why were semi auto pistols and smgs that used the recoil to load the next cartridge a thing long before seminauto rifles were adapted?
Especially regarding WW2 I'm wondering why most armies still used bolt action.

Google gave me this forum reply:

> Between the wars, the Brits played at developing a new rifle and a new cartridge. The other nations did as well. When hostilities broke out , only the US had gone as far as adopting an autoloader...and the Garand was in short supply still when we entered the fray a couple years later.
For the other countries, it made much more sense to continue using the rifle for which they had tooling, ammunition, and training than it did to try to switch to something new in the middle of a war. Introducing new weapon is always a painful process as bugs are detected that didn't reveal themselves during field trials. A war for your nation's very survival isn't a good place to be ironing out the kinks in a new weapon design when you have a proven weapon in use that is adequate to the task.

This still begs the question why they already had the system for pistols but didn't immediately convert it over to rifles.

>>Food for 7 days (need help picking)
>-either 5 packs of 3600 and 7 MREs (20 lbs+)
>-or 25,200 calories worth of Mountain House (not 20 lbs)
you need at least 5000 calories/day for 7 days so 35000 not 25000: 3 jars of peanut butter (24500 calories, 9lb), 2 bags of chocolate chips(no they dont melt too bad) (3500 calories, 24 oz), 2 bags macadamia/walnut (3000 calories, 18 oz), 1 box raisins (1000 calories, 12 oz), 16 pack tortilla (3200 calories, 2.5 lb)

this is 35000+ calories and 15 pounds, obviously you make a burrito in the morning and one at night, with 2 more in there during the week when youre hungry enough for them. Tortilla + ~<.25 jar of peanut butter + sprinkle other topping on = ~2500 calories. You can bring trail mix or a bag of fun size candy bars to snack on if you get hungry throughout the day, but only if youre a 3 meal a day kind of faggot, this should fit in the size pack you said

>>2 quart canteen
fine if its a marked trail where you know exactly where you can refill, otherwise you will need far more, remember water weights 8 pounds per gallon

>>water puri tabs
useless, get a pump filter if you are scared and absolutely need to filter, otherwise just use your head and drink it straight (higher in elevation you get water the better, springs are perfectly safe). The problem with tabs is that they take 30 mins to work and make the water taste like shit. You procedure at a water source should be drink down 1 canteen of water, refill and continue, having to wait 30 mins at every water source will really cut into your miles/day

i wont comment on the other stuff as you seem set on larping, but i would recommend your gear NOT be more than 30 pounds (that includes food + water)

>>

I'd just stick with a Beretta. The frame mounted safety is more of a meme complaint than anything. While the Pt92 isn't bad per se, it has the taurus issue of either being great with no flaws or a total lemon. The QC on the 92fs is much better, and I'd take a surplus one over a pt92 any day.

Metallurgy and lack of experimentation

14 oz of steel to deal with 13,000 psi during firing is OK

5 lbs of steel for a barrel to deal with 55,000 psi, because you do not have a strong enough steel alloy, is pretty shit. That and the only system they knew how to use recoil was blowback, which requires a massive bolt. Putting a hole in the barrel to direct gas to cam the bolt was also a wizardly craft no one even thought of.

Regarding the StG 44:
When they finally had the tech, it was too late because all soldiers were trained with bolt action and it was too expensive or too much of a logistical challenge to build new machinery/factories that manufactured the new cartridge and weapons on the same scale as the k98.

No. Muzzle loaders are basically unregulated, on the federal level anyway. Type of propellant has nothing to do with it.

They wouldn't be blanks then, would they.

A 40mm muzzle loader would be unregulated, but the projectiles might be. (eg explosive projectiles would be regulated as Destructive Devices)

Because at point blank range, you don't need the bdc. Beyond point blank, you will almost always want max magnification, and that's where the bdc is calibrated. I guess. I have a 1-6x though and kinda wish I just went for good fixed power.

Hell no. Of all the guns /k/ says will blow up in your hands, IO rifles will ACTUALLY blow up. Shitty cast trunnions, terrible riveting, and overgassing cause unreal wear. You'd be lucky to make it 2000 rounds in before the gun eats itself.

Good to know, thank you. Do you have any recommendations? I was planning on nabbing that, and Bud's doesn't have very many AK rifles.
>>
>>34924141
If you're wanting a budget AK, try an Npap or a Wasr. A wasr is the most basic AK you an get. Easy to maintain and plenty of parts. Npaps are tonka tough, but only take weird furniture. If you happen to find an Opap mixed in with Npaps, nab that. Opaps are built on RPK receivers and are nearly indestructible at the cost of some added weight.

I finally got a job that pays decently and bought babby's first pistol. What would you guys recommend for safety glasses and ear protection?
>>
>>34924581
All ranges have sets of ear-plugs you can buy for 50c, that's always been enough, and a lot of gun stores sell cheap sunglass/safety glasses combos for $30 or less. Others will probably have specific recommendations but nothing beyond this is actually needed.
>>
>>34924581
safety glasses - I never wear them, though I probably should. I usually wear sunglasses that are OSHA approved, so that tends to protect me eyeballs.

ear pro - just buy a box of those foam plugs at wal mart for now. they work great IF you use them right. roll them up into a smaller shape, push them in, and let them expand. people that try to shove them in full size never get any kind of noise reduction from them. i've seen plugs just fall out of peoples ears at the range.
owning and using the plugs for now will give you time to do more research on if and what electronic ear pro you might want. or just non electronic muffs.

a few things

for one and most importantly the barrel on the A4 is 20 inches long. This is the length the 5.56 was actually designed for and it squeezes out the full capability of the round.

the A4 has a fixed stock, the USMC experimented with collapsable stocks in 2014 so there are a few of those floating around. Some random recruit at parris island actually got a hold of one some how.

The USMC used them the most, because of the whole rifleman culture qualify at 500 yards thing, but now they are mainly being used by POG units within the USMC and the infantry is using M4s and now they want to use M27s.

The M4 will do whatever the fuck you want it to do. I qual'd on USMC ranges at 500 with it no problem, just have to be a tad bit more mindful with wind calls.

What is a felony and why is it a special type of crime? Is a shoplifter a felon? What separates a felon from a regular criminal?

not really /k/, just something that popped into my mind
>>
>>34927385
Felonies are serious crimes: assault, murder, rape, arson, grand theft, etc.
Felonies carry jail time.
Misdemeanors are minor crimes: traffic violations, shoplifting, disorderly conduct, etc.
Misdemeanors can be punished with fines/probation/community service, etc.
What's what is defined by local jurisdiction and federal law.
