To the lad with the vepr that was asking what ammo I use I can finally get back to you after a day at the range.

I agree red army standard is turbo trash. Tula was working ok, nothing great. 203 grain silver bear shot really well and is so far my preferred round. I had some Winchester white box that shot well of course but too expensive for regular shooting.

I want to try some 170-180 grain ammo next but so far 203 silver bear seems to be working the best.(plus my dad gave me 500 rounds of it recently)

Because that's one of the biggest motivations behind it all, the only difference was that the argument was that your average person is not versed well enough in all issues to voice an opinion on all issues and that democratically representative governments are thus bend to the wills of the class of democracy makers and their ability to goad a largely uninformed public on issues and so a system like, for example Fascism, is one in which the people who not only have a vested interest in a particular industry have a say but they're also the ones that, meritocratically, run everything. Apparently AKs are expensive as shit over there.
It's why every picture you see of them is a lovingly decorated family heirloom with all of the paint and bluing rubbed away by loving hands.
They're passed down generation to generation by normal families.

One guy said the average price of a russian AK was (roughly estimating conversion rates) like $2500 US money on the Afghan/Pakistan border.
Which is a whole fucking lot for them considering a dollar buys you like $20 worth of stuff if it was America.

Funnily enough, I'm studying Poultry Science at my university and one of the really fun and nice to talk to guys who loves guns from the Afghan border works selling chickens at a market.
He and I send each other chicken memes a lot and he keeps sending me selfies.
He's the one that's got the weird looking AR.

It made me realize just how much I take my AKs for granted.
Like, I own five and they're all super pretty and show very little signs of use.
In their world two generations might only have one to their whole household and it's ingrained with the blood, sweat, and tears of every male family member since the 60's/70's.

They see rifles as life-long companion tools and love them like extensions of themselves.
We just have piles of rifles leaned up in the corner and only pull them out to fingerfuck them once a week.

I've always believed that well-loved tools and special places develop souls, a sort of innate animism that I've always believed.
I now feel that I've done my rifles a spiritual disservice by treating them so lightly, trading/selling/buying all over the place, and owning so many.

I think I'm going to acquire one or two good AKs and narrow down the rest of my collection because of this.

Without a doubt some of the highest quality AK builds I've ever seen. Not even exaggerating. I don't personally own one but a very good friend of mine does and we go shooting all the time together and he never has a problem with it. THOUSANDS of rounds through it and no unusual wear and tear, or problems. Great fit and finish. If I were working right now I'd pick one up, but since I'm job hunting I have absolutely stopped all purchases that don't contribute to food or other living expenses.
