512, a pre-2009 version that was a LEO trade-in. Works just fine but the connectors are sorta loose in the battery housing and are pretty much held in place by the AA batteries pressing down on them. You can get the replacement parts for both the contact grommets and the battery cap for like $20 total. I've got it listed for $260 shipped on Files and ARFCOM EE, but I'm willing to come down a bit if someone on /akg/ wants it.

The SAR2 might be worth a little more but honestly I'd rather have the Maadi over the SAR2. The SAR2 is cool but it's kind of an oddball, whereas the Maadi is a nice AKM. Nothing against the SAR2 but I personally have little to no interest in Romanian 5.45 rifles, and as long as the Maadi is straight enough and works it'll be a nice gun

I feel like /akg/ is a big conglomerate who has different opinions on what they like but are open to try other guns and are open to be convinced to buy other stuff, with ideas and feelings of different guns being passed around and openly shared it or at least accepted from everyone. In all seriousness though, it was built from a 1983 Izzy kit, and I spent about 2 years waiting on a Riggs receiver and another 6 months waiting for it to get through Meridian Ordnance's queue. It's very nice, but I baby it more than literally any other gun in my collection. Unless you've got a 'tism for complete accuracy like I did, I'd recommend buying an SLR-104 instead and just dressing it up. It'll be much quicker and much cheaper.

Check out the Scalarworks OPS I mentioned. Snickers loves 'em and some people will neg on them for that reason, but I have their LDM for my Aimpoint H1 on my AR and it sold me on their designs for good. Lightweight, low profile, excellent attention to detail in the machining. Unfortunately, they're more expensive than a full set of Troy folding BattleSights, but if you're just after a front to go with your DD A1.5, it's not too bad.

Enterprise receivers have QC worse than Century. If you bought a fixed stock I believe the cost for my para carrier and complete lower with an eared sight was about 470, then all you'd need is a top cover and stock. You could sell the fixed stock lower and carrier without the bolt for at least 250 I think, maybe more. And you would get a bunch of surplus parts rather than DSA shit

Best I can do when I got it like pic related and he cut the tang off so I couldn't get a standard adapter to put on regular furniture.

RPK wood handgaurds are a pain in the as to get decently cheap so I got a M70 handguard and fit it to this one along with a RPK tube I found in my parts drawer.

She might be ugly , but she functions great , holds a Zero and feels damn good in my hands. That M70 handguard just feels right and meaty enough. Again she is ugly but she is my ugly girl and I love it .

This WILL be a bit of a long post, so if you weren't the guy asking about surplus Romanian triggers a week or two ago, you may want to just skip over this.

A week or two ago an anon was asking about surplus Romanian triggers that can be found online for around $20 or so. I told him that I had bought two, and that squeezing them felt like rubbing two steel files across each other.
Well, I fixed that today with about 10 minutes of sanding, and I thought he deserved to know that they can be polished up to be quite nice triggers.
The roughness is only there when the hammer is cocked back, so that means it is coming from where the hook on the trigger is holding back the spring loaded hammer. As you pull the trigger, the rough surface of the hook rubs against the rough surface of the hammer, and it felt incredibly rough.
So, I took the trigger apart and used 220 grit first, then 400 grit, and polished both surfaces. Put it back together and holy shit it made a world of difference. A huge difference.

So, if you want to buy some cheapshit gypsy triggers, just have some sandpaper on hand to do a little polishing, should it be necessary. It was for my two.

In my defense I'm planning this build as a sort of "rep the hometown" thing with mostly Hodge Defense parts since I can't afford a complete Hodge carbine, but I still get the feeling I'll be kinda "eh" on it at the end.

I honestly don't know when I became an AK guy but apparently it happened, because now I just see the AR as a gun for larpers and normies, and to me it's just an easily maintained and replaced hard use gun like a Glock.

If the AK market wasn't being completely choked off bit by bit, I'd probably be eyeing an SLR-106 instead, but I want a scoped recce gun in an intermediate caliber. These days that means using one of the AR powers I bought last year or dropping major coin on something extra meme-y like a SCAR 16S.

Yes and no. I asked about a 5.5mm folding trunnion from him a year or so ago and he said he couldn't do the cutout for the dif angle of the 5.5. So instead he decided he would make another 88 fixed stock receiver and weld the pistol grip plate on and the end builder would cut it for the folding trunnion. The late 80s and early 74M receivers are essentially the same as far as dimple, welds, selector marks are concerned.
