I just picked up one for myself yesterday. Needs some restoration work, but it's given me a stiffy of epic proportions nevertheless.

Not pictured: M48's bolt (in paper towels in the safe).
Technically the Yugo guns could go AXIS, but the K31 would have been lonely.
I have a physical need for a martini Henri, anything I should know?
>hakim on gunbroker for 600

I don't get it. it's got a bruised stock but other than that it looks fine.

AMERICAN
Same Garand as earlier.
>>34790040
There's one nearby for a decent price, but I have a ton of bids in at RIA and 2 gun shows this weekend, also I REALLY want to get a K98k to finish out Phase 1.
>>34790055
>I have a physical need for a martini Henri, anything I should know?
your body better be ready for hand loading.
>>34790083
My body is ready
>>34790074
It's on the list! Saw one at a gun show recently and was tempted, but it had 4 serial numbers and the finish wasn't too great. He was starting at 800 and I didn't want to get anywhere near that for a parts gun.
>>34790100
Oops, that was my non 'surp. I decided not to post that one, but forgot to remove the file...
Not pictured: 2 AR-15 lowers.
>>34790100
they are criminally expensive. I paid $900 for that one and the only thing that doesnt match is the bolt.
got this rc for a decent price though. Well a decent price in 2017 that is i guess
>>34789430
My locals has a Chinese copy of the 1888 Commission rifle for sale, really contemplating it, or a Berthier carbine.

How much pressure can a Gew. 88 receiver handle realistically?
you ever run across this autistic carbine guy on armslist billy? Every time I check around michigan this guy has the same ad listed
This'll interest Kapt if you haven't already seen it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvpKdE6TA90
>>34791306
Probably plenty, seeing as Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles have been built and chambered in .30-06 and whatnot, and that's basically a modified G.88 action.
I think G.88s will always have that weak reputation just because some may be in .318, in spite of being S marked, and the risk behind that...but to be fair, that'd destroy a lot of other rifles too.
>>34791314
What is it?
What is the going rate for a mosin sniper?

>tfw on Thursday I'm going to purchase a 7.62 NATO vz 24 (not bubba'd, it's Israeli) with an incredible refinished wood stock and no import marks
I'm overpaying and it's got mismatched K98K parts but it's literally all I've ever wanted. 98 action IS strong enough for commercial .308 so it'll pay for itself in no time.
Funny story as to how I got in contact with the seller, some dude left his armslist listing up so I asked him if he would sell to me. Did some research on Israeli Mausers in the /k/ archive and found that this guy posted it in a milsurp general. He said he traded it and wouldn't give me the new owner's info so I kept pressing with shit like "do it for another /k/ommando" to the point where it was actually kinda annoying.
Finally got the info. Both people were actually very nice. Sorry for being such a little shit if you're reading this
Here's before/after pics, it was anon who refinished the stock

>>34792259
Y would you want a ljungman and hakim. PS there's a hakim up on armslist in Jacksonville FL for $450 and it's in perfect condition. Ask if he ships if you don't live here
>>34792270
I've looked and looked and looked, where do you think the best place to find one would be?
>>34792259
Yeah, I didn't include my entire list because eventually I'm gonna want a COMPLETE set of WW2 guns.
>>34792259
Also my Arsenal. So M91/30, SKS and Type 38 are ticked off the list.
>>34792285
I would be happy with either. Can't get that Hakim because I' A FUCKING LEAF. There was a Ljungman that was really nice for $500 a while ago from the same guy I bought my Type 38 from but I passed it up. I didn't know they sell for more in Canada, but it's not super high on my list. Most importantly I want an SVT40 because they're skyrocketing in price and I want to try to catch some of the last cheap ones before it's too late.
>>34792285
I saw one on Simpson's a while back and I swear I've seen one at a gun show someplace.

>Not engaging in gun tourism in red states
I suppose it's good though, because the reverse wouldn't work very well for me and so it would result in guns going out of the US.
>>34792390
Yeah I know it'll cost a bit but I'm not worried, I'm in no rush and I'm not even 20 yet. For now I'm saving for an Audi A4 but after that I'll take a small percentage of my wages for buying guns. I'm pretty good at hunting them down and get them at a good price.

I dunno some kinda frog shit maybe. and a K31
I should really get some long bayonets.
Gb used to have multiples ljungmans at a time now I haven't seen one in months

>>34789430
If a German/Spanish/Yugo/Whateva Mauser makes it through Syria and survives, can it be called a Syrian Mauser??
can anyone redpill me on ig11? saw one for $650 dollarydoos
>>34793606
What gives away that its a fake?
The turned-down bolt handle and receiver are matching
>>34795351
They didn't make PU snipers in 1929 and when they did start making them they didn't use rifles dated that early.
>>34794921
As in the Swiss 1911 rifle? I have a 96/11, which is ostensibly the exact same thing, and I like it. It's big, heavy, but very cool.
>>34794830
There are Syrian Mausers
>>34790905
That's insane. I just sold one off for $150 and felt like that was fair. It's shit ammo anyway.
>>34793286
I wish the wood on my Type 38 was that nice, mine is dark is fuck and looked almost black when I got it.
>>34794125
It's a Mudken, it could be built from anywhere from 1934 to 1940.
Basically nobody can pinpoint the year on their Arisakas unless they're like the first thousand or the last thousand an Arsenal did. I have a Type 38 and it could be made from 1933 to 1940 so who knows when it was really made.
>>34793770
>suppressor barrel
>the price
I should message that guy and ask if he has a tax stamp for that suppressor barrel.
Remington marked Berthier in good condition for 350 should I get it.

You're doing really well for 19. What do you earn, at least 14 hourly? I made 9.50 busting my ass in a warehouse.
>>34796691
It has been sporterized.
They also have a '44 dot Kar98k for 650. Im gonna sell my vz24 and buy it.
>>34797551
>It has been sporterized

Can't wait for my new Belgian Mauser.
Wonder if Othias wants to borrow it.
>>34797551
>K98k for 650
Damn it, why can't one of those show up around here?
>>34797661
the bolt assembly has been blued. is Its a "dot" made in Czechoslovakia under Nazi occupation. The serial numbers match.
>>34797627

I doubt it.

I squeezed $15.25 out of them because I got my NOCTI certification and a few NIMS certificates.
>>34797988

Is $200 for a pawn shop Mosin a good deal?
7.52x54r, all matching serials, 1943 stamp. I forgot the country of origin... anyway what say ye?
I keep hearing you can't find cheap Mosins anymore but this seems pretty good
>>34798009
Yes.
>>34798009
>anons come to /msg/ to ask questions about rifles that are BLATANTLY good deals
>"guise, is this an okay buy?"
Yes. Stop asking obvious questions.
>>34798009
7.62****
>>34798014
>>34798023
I'm not familiar so I appreciate the input.
They have a Mossberg 500 Field for 200 as well so I'm kin of torn. Would you take the mosin over the shotgun? Which is a better deal.
I know these are probably stupid subjective questions but indulge me just once
>>34798078
Mosin, you'll get more deals on shotguns than milsurp, so when there's a deal for milsurp, if you want it, you have to get it.
If you would really rather have the shotgun, then buy the Mosin, sell it for $250 and buy the shotgun and some ammo.
>>34798009
>>34798023
If all he's ever heard about milsurp are $100 nuggets, I don't think it's that obvious. That being said, at $200 I would buy almost any milsurp rifle out there, especially if the numbers match.
>>34798078
If I were you, I would buy the Mosin, but I'm not much of a shotgun guy. My 1942 Mosin is actually my second favorite milsurp, much nicer than I would have ever expected from all the memes about them, but I probably got lucky on mine.
I'm mostly an opportunistic buyer. There's lots of guns on my list, but most of the time, I buy a gun when it's a good deal. Like this, got it yesterday for $365. This Saturday I'm going to an estate auction and hopefully getting an original Krag. A 60+ gun auction popped up last week and it's on the same day so hopefully that'll draw some potential competition away. Currently I keep my eyes peeled for
>Chilean Mauser in 7mm, long rifle, not a Carbine
>decent sporter 1903. I already have the stock and hardware
>Sterling AR-180
>K98
>FR-8
>Yugo NPAP or OPAP
>Ortgies pistol
>>34798078
In 5 years you won't find a Mosin for 200. You will still find a used Mossberg for that much. So if you have interest in the Mosin for what it is (a old bolt action onfs try rifle of decent though not spectacular performance), then I recommend the Mosin. However, if you just want a cheap gun to shoot and have fun with, the Mossberg will provide you with a better value because it is more useful.
>>34798078
They're always gonna be making Mossberg 500s, and they aren't collector's items, whereas even Mosins are seen as legitimate collector's items nowadays.
Once the cost of Mosins goes up again, and your dime a dozen shotgun has accrued zero value, you'll know that milsurp is the best investment over almost any fudd gun extant.
>>34798115
>>34798118
>>34798186
>>34798215
Does a CAI stamp devalue them, or is that pretty much the norm.
For example, Manurhin revolvers are worth much more without import stamps
Cheers guys good info thank you
>>34789430
>have to wait until September to pay off the rest of my Schoenauer
>won't get to spam /msg/ wirh pics (I took) of it until then
Life is pain lads
As an aside, my Ishapore 2a1 developed a crack in the forend the first time I shot it, AND had feeding issues....added to my new Turk piercing almost all the primers when I shot that the first time, I'm really depressed about milsurp in general right now.
>>34798251
An import stamp has been a legal requirement since like 1968, so it isn't even seen as bad, but guns without are seen as slightly more valuable.
Some import marks are put in classier locations on the gun, so beware of that.
>>34798145
Chilean Mausers are fucking awesome.
>>34798251
A little, like $25 at most. 200 with a import stamp is still a very fair price these days.
>>34798251
Most Mosins were imported after import marks were required IIRC, so they are standard. Stop asking questions and buy it, someone else is gonna beat you to it.
>>34798320
This is what I meant by anons asking really fucking annoying questions, and they all without exception waffle over the idea and him and haw then think up reasons why it's potentially not what they want.
Same fucking thought process as a stereotypical woman
>>34798344
what else is a thread for?
As soon as I stopped asking questions the thread died.
People like you deter beginners from learning. I don't own any milsurp, you all do, so your knowledge is appreciated.
Its a nice day out, so I took some nicer long-profile shots of my 1895.
Brass stripper clips look so cool with this gun.

>deter beginners from learning. I don't own any milsurp, you all do, so your knowledge is appreciated.
I appreciate newbies and people seeking knowledge, but it's the waffling about on everything that drives me crazy.
>>34789430
Should I just acraglas this crack in my Enfield? Happened the first fucking time I shot it, and only after 25 rounds.
I'm worried it can be a bedding issue, and fixing the crack would only be a bandaid. I'm not knowledgeable enough on Enfields to get their very particular bedding needs met if that's the case.

The rest of your collection is quite beautiful as well, I hope mine can look like a fraction of that in the future.
I honestly just want a Gew98 or K98. I'd also like a Luger, but at the prices they are, I won't be able to afford one for quite some time. Actually since I don't graduate until spring, I'm not going to be able to afford any of them for quite some time.
I might pick up a Mosin Nagant to tie me over since they are cheaper (or maybe ask for one for Christmas)

probably PPU since you can reload the brass easily.
>>34804097
i feel real sad about that nagoya type 99 1st series, someone re-chambered it to 300 savage but they used a late production barrel.
>>34804445
The finish looks like its come off in many places and it's a little steep for a starting price.

>>34804777
My 1895 was a Christmas gift from my wife. Actually, a lot of my guns were gifts.
I have a specific question. How well does 7mm Mauser fit in an 8mm Mauser magazine? Or in a G.88 enbloc?

>>34807162
One more pic for good measure
>>34803758
First slug you barrel. Ppu is reloadable and wolf is not. Wolf also uses a .308 bullet which, depending on your bore size, can suck. Ppu uses a proper (.311 or .312 can't remember) bullet.
>>34807162
nice collection.
>>34807379
Wolf Gold is 100% reloadable and comes in 303. Of course it's just rebranded PPU but that's beside the point.
>>34807586
I don't have any experience with wolf gold. Just wolf classic military or whatever it's called. I do really like their ammo boxes though. That hard plastic cartridge holder is great for reloads.
>>34807676
Like I said, Wolf Gold is just rebranded PPU. It was a big deal back in 2005 before PPU had the presence it has today, but unless you like the box (and you said you do) there's no reason to buy it over PPU.

Went out to the range the other day with my dad. I brought my K31 and he had a Yugo Mauser. I was firing my rifle and i really dont think it kicks that much. My dad and I decide to swap rifle for 10 rounds. Holy fuck do they punch you. This was even with a pad he has on there for extra reach. Are all mausers that bad?
>>34810559
Nice, I love mine.
>>34810971
I don't think my M48 kicks that much at all.
>>34810971
I never noticed a difference in recoil between my Mausers and my K31 honestly.
>>34810971
>they punch you.
You're not shouldering it correctly; a rifle's recoil should never feel like being punched. Perhaps with the pad the LOP is too long for you.
>>34810971
>>34811128
it really depends on the brand of 8mm you're using. Federal is super anemic. If you handload or use PPU or S&B there's more kick imo

My parents make a combined 200k a year. But they also pays for my college so I try not to be too demanding. They usually have to constantly ask me what I want as a present because I feel guilty and keep telling them I don't want anything. I always feel like free college is enough of a gift.
>>34807379
Why can't you reload wolf?
>>34810559
Nice. I've been too lazy to get the Cosmo off mine.
>>34814600
A lot of Wolf ammo is either steel or bimetal, which can't be reloaded safely if at all.
>>34810418
What's wrong with the hand select, do they grab the shitty one on purpose to fuck with people?
>>34814600
Probably berdan primed mang
>>34814639
No, they just take your money and pick the next rifle without spend the time to "hand select" them. At least most of the time

I might as well actually do what this thread is about. This is my current collection.
Buy List:
WWI SMLE Enfield
1891 Carcano long rifle.
M95 Steyr
SKS (Russian/Yugoslavian)
So basically half my buy list is based on what bayonets I have. Weird how things turn out like that.
>>34815729
That's a pretty Mosin.
>>34814703
Like >>34814741 said, work in and around a warehouse or big box store and you'll see how most of the time it's about how quick you get your job done not how well

the spring for the handguard band/slingswivel on my type 38 is stuck down. i took it apart to try and pop it back up but no dice, any advice on how to fix it?
>>34816126

>>34822422
This is my problem. I've gotten everything on my immediate wish list and now I'm just trying to find something else to get. I'm torn between literally any Carcano a type 99 and an m95
To the guy who I was talking about the Finnish mosin last week: it is a tikka m27 for 589 and it does in fact have the popsicle sticks on both sides
>>34822621
Remind me; what's the overall condition, date, and manufacturer?
That's on the high end of the price range unless it's one of the super-low production years for VKT.
>>34822621
M27 usually 450-500 except for rare years
>>34822679
>>34822797
'32, condition is pretty good, no rust or pitting, flying still intact. Tikka manufactured ("T" in an inverted triangle) its too expensive for what I would pay for a mosin anyway.
>>34821094
I don't hardly go out and drink anymore either. I finally started really watching my spending, and I realized what a colossal waste of money it is. I'm glad I have a job where I work every other weekend, it gives me an easy out when friends wanna go tear up the town.

>>34825263
He bought one that was slightly bubba'd
>>34825263
vz98n: vz24's assembled with k98k parts, n stands for "Nemacka" or "German" in Czech.
Mine was made in '37, it was most likely captured by the nazis very shortly after and either put into use or storage, after the war it was returned to Czechoslovakia who then sent it to Israel before the USSR stopped them from exporting to various countries. It was rebarreled to 7.62 there and potentially reached South America before ending up on the US market, but there's no definite proof of that.
I overpaid but if you're looking for something identical to a k98k for less money than this is your gun. Personally I don't care about that, I wanted it to shoot .308 out of.
>>34825306
Not bubba'd, I thought that at first and did more research but these things actually had their own designation and everything. They're quite rare. Ignore this post I made two days ago, it's wrong, it's not bubba'd: >>34792016
>>34825342
Neat, I got a couple of k98s though
^well maybe if you consider a stock refinish "bubba" but honestly who gives a damn, I don't intend to sell this thing ever
>>34825376
Neato. My nazi markings went buh-bye, surprisingly mine is missing a lot of Israeli markings too such as the big "7.62" in white or red letters they would add to the receiver. This was so that idiots wouldn't try to put 8mm in the guns as it took a while to convert everything. I think this means mine was converted later on when there was little 8mm left.
I have no excuse for not owning a luger. going to rectify this come gun show season this year

A stock refinish is bubba, unless done by the military arsenal.
>>34825635
>hurr it's not bubba if tha miluhtary does it
A military is just a group of individuals idiot, plus I'd rather take a a .308 k98k with a refinished stock than an 8mm k98k with an original stock
>>34825656
Okay bubba, whatever makes you feel better. You're always going to be bubba, though.
>>34825466
Your excuse should be that they are probably the most overpriced milsurp available.
>>34825726
yeah I mean thats fair but I really really want one.
So I won a K98k and a 1868 Trapdoor from RIA. Think I overpaid a tad, but whatever.
>>34825751
Fair enough. I mean, realistically most of our guns are overpriced on a performance level.
>>34825764
every single one of them is if you want to bring it to performance
>>34825764
I didnt think that was until september
>>34825796
Eh, there's a handful of guns that, if you get them for a decent price, are worth the money on performance.
