I've not touched the games in a few years now. That's what you get for fanatically playing all three games for a whole decade, with and without mods.

I can however leave you this handy Stalker rookie guide, that might help total greenhorns get softer landing to the series.
Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: >>>/vg/stalker

Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.

m8... I played SoC for the very first time back in 2007 with a WinXP wormbox packing Pentium 4 @ 2.4Ghz, 3GB DDR1 RAM, and Geforce FX 6600GT 128mb, and it ran damn nice. I really doubt that's the problem here.

What is your OS and GPU like? Anything you've changed in ZRP ?

I have a Nvidia GT520, running windows 7. Where im thinking i went wrong is i tried deleting ZRP to go back to vanilla but i must have left some files in because it still shows ZRP on the menu

That GPU is quite literal garbage to be perfectly honest, but it should still be enough for it. W7 is a literal non-issue.

To get back to 100% vanilla, rename or delete your Gamedata -folder. Notice that you WILL have to restart the game from the beginning, as saves made with modified game logic will not launch in vanilla / with other gameplay altering mods.

OP here. That's the Gieger counter. Apparently unlike the original Misery, it doesnt show the radiation indicator. So instead you have to rely on that to see the amount of radiation you are having in you.

And it doesn't really decrease overtime too. So you gotta bring at least a couple of cigs, vodka, anti rads, etc.
