Next week I'm ordering a WASR from atlantic, 5 more steel mags, another type 81 chest rig, and another case of golden tiger.
>>
Didnt see these mentioned in any of the pasties
so, can /gq/ recommend me a good set of shooting gloves that wont wear out in a year?
>>
>>34609693
With heavy use all gloves will fail, funny enough though the gloves that held up the best for me was nomex flight gloves, the only time they got serious damage was being in the desert and baking in the sun, they hardened up. With a few washes they are back to normal. Shrunk only a little. Survived a few years.

Why are you getting another rifle when your gear is so minimalist as it is? Arming a significant other or friend? Also what WASR? Make sure to go talk to /akg/ because there are some crap AKs out there.

>>34609693
It is hard to get a good pair that isn't expensive.

>>34610015
Do you want ceramic level IVs? Why are you considering level III plates?

Shellback Tactical made a decent name for themselves with the original Banshee. Their website has been down or in a state of repair for the past three months or some shit, so that says a lot about how capable of a company they are. The newer Banshee isn't as highly regarded as the older one, and the 2.0 honestly looks a bit lame for the price. Old design, no special features really. They also are charging $200 now for the patriot, and just 4 months ago before they redid the website the patriot was $160? I hate companies that pull that shit.

The Low Vis carrier looks decent. Probably would work fine. Shellback isn't shit by any stretch. But consider the other slick options out there, Ferro Concepts etc.
>>
>>34610120
New build WASR 10, they're pretty good quality IMO. AKG a few years ago suggested I get an NPAP, and now where am I?

Arming a family member or friend, whatever happens when SHTF I want to arm more than myself with gear more complex than "here's a mossberg gl".

It's basically everything I have now, but with a wasr instead of another npap.

Only because I could walk into any CVS or pharmacy and grab everything in a med kit for half the price and throw it in a pouch, side pocket of a backpack, etc.

Well I have no idea what your taking about. You could make an IFAK at a CVS. But they dont have packages built for combat. IE. their gauze package will get ruined in about 2 seconds. I dont understand what you think you don't need in an IFAK either. The kit I showed is pretty much the known "minimum" with the exception of one or two things.

>>34611015
Yeah Idk where the NPA chest seals, etc. are. Who knows. Maybe the TQ was on an outside pouch or something. Yeah i agree that shit is missing. Either way, considering he got rekt, he needed that celox I guess. But yeah he should totally have that other shit. Didnt even notice that at first.

So I have an autistic ghana rig I want to do.
I have a 6094 with a kangaroo pouch and I want flaps over it. So I want 3 of any basic flap that has male velcro on the back side and "pull" side and *IF* possible female velcro on the opposite side from the male velcro on the "mount" side.

So in the kangaroo from plate side to front side it goes female male mags female male. I'm trying to fit the mount side of the flaps between the female and male velcro of the kangaroo pouch wall and lbt insert thing.

Are there any cheaper pouches with removable pouches with really long velcro strips and if possible the female velcro on the oppostie side. If not I'd just have to sew it on but either way I checked out a lot of Eagle pouches and a lot of them aren't removable despite the fact I have Eagle (possibly Canadian ripoff) pouches with removable flaps but need them for something else.

What cobra belt could you recommand (mostly as an inside battle belt, but could also be used as a civilian conceal-carry belt)?
It should have a thin enough male part for normal trousers loops, a D-ring (separate, not like the 5.11 climbing stuff), not be camo (for civilian use), and be rigid enough for holding a holster tightly

i owned one and i traded it, i ordered one from the kommando store yesterday because they had a "serviceable " grade one that wasn't an autistically high price.

personally i prefer a type 81 chicom as far as comfort goes. the SADF chest rigs are made with a really rough nylon material that feels like sand paper on my skin and the shoulder padding is bulky and uncomfortable. I have found it to do the opposite of its intended purpose. On the other hand it can hold 9 AR mags and will basically hold any mag you want to put in it. I used mine a good bit, the guy i traded it to uses it alot and i have a bunch of buddies who have them.

they are great if you are getting them for cheap. they are not worth more then $50 at the most.
>>
>>34614608
This is true, my only gripe with the D3 is that it only holds 4 mags. Is that enough? I think I'd like to roll with 6. How is the D3 plus flat pack setup?
>>
>>34614623
Thanks for the breakdown man, I just want to have some gear just in case. So far all I have is my AR and 229, which still needs a holster.
>>
>>34614641

they have a velcro thing that adds two mags to the back of the d3. what i dont like is the new d3s have 4 pistol pouches and the removed the elastic bungie pocket.

but think of it like this. if you need 6+1 then you can wear two belt mounted and four in the chest rig or 6 in the rig with the velcro on deal.

>>34614643
yeah man if you just need a durable throw around rig for carrying mags and medical and water and shit the SA83 chest rig is fine. it has features that some people prefer to cheaper chest rigs like the chicom. I prefer how slim and simple the chicoms are. I can carry 8 mags in my type 81 chicom and i don't need to fuck around with other pouches. but the SADF rigs are nice and i enjoyed mine and i have had friends who only own it say that its working great for them.

Really depends, for 99% of us, no. For real dudes, could be. The lower you can get to the ground the less likely you are to get shot. Also have to take into account the weight pulling down on the front vs the back. You want to keep things as balanced as you can.

I've seen the Velcro on thing, but that adds alot up front, putting two on the belt sounds solid and simple, should I invest in a battle belt for that or just throw them on my Cobra belt? Also, do you know of some good duty holsters for the 229? I don't have a light yet but I'll probably put one on because it seems like a good idea. Damn this gear shit adds up quick lol

it's fuck huge, I would never carry it on my person. i have an esee 4 that i carry when i go backpacking and wear on my plate carrier.

the junglas is a like tripple thick machete. It's really good for what its for which is cutting brush in tropical rain forests. the ESEE school and their knives were designed for jungle shit. its really more of something you would strap tot he side of your pack. if i was in temperate woodland i would rather have an axe preferably a full sized axe. in the jungle a machete is better and the junglas is a heavy and short machete.

it's personal preference. if you don't think you are going to get shot at ever. then there isn't any point buying or wearing body armor. If you think you are gonna get shot at but want to trade the weight and mobility for some protection then sure.
most people have them because its cool and they can brag and show it off. There are people on these threads that think a plate carrier is a magic talisman that makes them immune to small arms fire. the reality is that you are just as likely to get shot in the face, guts, arms, legs, ect as you are right on the plates. And getting shot in the face or thigh with a rifle is going to be just as fucksville for you as taking a chest shot.
one argument is that is increases your chances of not dying in a home defense situation.

there is a lot of back and forth and it really comes down to what do you personally think you need for your situation and wh

sometimes they have like integrated hydro carriers with chest rigs. like the haley d3cr has the flat pack that can hook into it and be the hydro carrier. I personally wear a chicom and either my alice pack (which has a fuck load of water in it) or a camel bak

The real trick is trying to use their holster locator to figure out what they make for what you have. Unless its a glock its a pain. As far as best, for what? You want a hood? Do you want a locking system with a thumb break?

Best is to just use the holster finder on the site and try to narrow down what actual options you have.

G3AW are made entirely out of durastretch tweave material, ie the fabric used on the knee stretch portions. I've worn a pair of RG ones for over two years now and they are good to go.

>>34617804
Yoke or Suspenders? Tactical Tailor and SORD make great yokes.
>>
>>34617837
To answer your question more specifically though, they are softshells, but not shells. They WILL wet through very quickly in rain or snow unless they are brand new or you reapply DWR coating. If you don't, they still dry fairly quickly and wick sweat away better than 50/50 NYCO.

They allow a decent amount of airflow through, at least in my experience, but somehow they also stay pretty warm in the winter. I don't understand it myself. When Crye calls them "all weather" they mean it, I am perfectly fine wearing my pair in any season.

Yeah, in addition to tactical tailor and SORD Tyr also makes a good yoke in the form of their COMA system.

I gotta be honest that's all I know of though, not many manufacturers bother with those kind of systems.
>>
>>34618094
Thanks, it's a bit more clear now, would you say it's worth the 100$ more?
>>
>>34618170
Yes, but only if you have another pair of pants to wear 90% of the time. They aren't fragile at all, but the more you wear them (and wash them) the more the DWR coating breaks down and the more the stretch fabric "piles" at the crotch. It's purely aesthetic, but kind of annoys me.

All pants will wear at the crotch but on a pair of 310$ pants you're a little more conscious of it

My philosophy at this point is that there are fast mag pouches, and slow ones. Doesn't matter what kind of slow one, doesn't matter what kind of fast one. Comes down to personal preference. What does matter is your placement of fast vs. slow pouches, and how many of each.

>>34616710
Oh cool another slick option. Thanks for your link! Warrior Assault is good to go. There are other slicks out there of course though, and some carriers that aren't slick, but that aren't super heavy duty patrol. I just got a Velocity Systems LWPC, and there is the Jumpable of course as well.

Yeah those HESCOs are definitely a solid deal. I kinda wish I hadn't gotten my Armour Wears and instead gotten those. Would have saved $20, and gotten more legitimate plates. I guess I save 1.6lbs total and the Armour Wears are multi curve technically.

If you aren't military or LEO, this is all for imaginary operating autism, there is no "wrong" order. I'd lean towards getting a shooting belt first, because it holds your pistol and can holds the barebones of rifle and shotgun ammo. You can then jump off from there and keep the belt light while adding a chest rig, or you can turn the belt into an LBE with suspenders if you got a battle or pistol belt. A tactical belt has a place in all shooting setups.

I have three singles on front and a 2x2 on the 2 o' clock (lefty) so it doesn't interfere with me getting low. However, I always hate reloading from it because the elastic of the double stack makes it hard to fit the empty back in.

Not an issue if you plan to just dump mags on the floor then go back for them later, but sometimes the enemy doesn't really give you an option and when you spent hours going through the armory to finally find 7 mags that are gen2 with the extra guide springs so they don't jam, then you really don't want to be throwing those away to play scavenger hunt in the armory.

This is mitigated if you 1. have a dump pouch, I never used one so idk if this is actually a solution
2. Don't use elastic double stack mag pouches but individual ones on top of each other 3. Don't give a fuck and have tons of magazines you can no questions asked get back and coc doesn't care if you lose them.

They usually get pissy because they think there's this chance you left a fully loaded magazine for kids to play with, kill themselves, and blame Americans.

Holster

Magazine holders/ pouches

electronic ear protection
Multitool
Fixed blade
Gucci light source
Chest rig OR Plate carrier w/ plates- extra Gucci points for putting the two together
Admin pouch (gotta store your high speed crayons and cigarettes)
At this point you're probably beyond normie status and want to go full gq, so get a high speed hydration system
Commo- lol we know you don't have friends
Glow sticks/ signalling devices to look high-speed with but never use. Because you're still trying to justify how expensive your Gucci light source was.
IIIA+ helmet
$200+ ear protection
Night vision, you're so deep now just drop 6k on it
IR strobe to put on helmet
IR weapon illuminator/lazoooor- bonus points if its not the 8k new civilian one but a liberated .Mil one
M1a1 sep2 Abrams OR ifv of Slavic origin if you're a poorfag
GoPro to record your antics

Your gq quest is now complete

Also, that's not where the pistol is 95% of the time. I take the holster off and use the safariland holster when I have my battle belt on.

even in "shtf" situations you may be able to get medical treatment. think rioting, natural disasters, etc. these are relatively short duration events. Also unless the event that triggers SHTF is all the doctors in the US getting raptured, there will be people capable of treating injuries, they just won't be easy to find.

I'm incredibly pleased with my Surefire P2X Intellibeam.
The adaptive brightness works as advertised; the only problem I've had with it is that because of the way the adaptive brightness works, it drops to the lowest setting when it's pointed at a retroreflective surface like a road sign or yellow safety vest.
Other than that, it's basically magic and has never given me more or less light than I wanted.

So I have no issues shouldering a rifle normally. And I wear my plate carrier around the house a lot to get used to the weight and feeling.

But as soon as I try to shoulder a rifle and aim it and shit my arms feel very strained and exhausted. Do I just need to do it more to build up some strength, or is there something I'm not getting? I have shooters cut plates and the carrier is low profile in the shoulders.

>inb4 dyel
>>
>>34625051
How tight are your shoulder straps? How is the arm/shoulder mobility with the carrier on. Other than you needing to hit the gym it is possible that when you raise your arm to shoulder the rifle you're cutting of circulation or pinching something.

Straps are only tight enough to hold the carrier in the proper position. Range of movement in the carrier is good.

Maybe just running around the house in the carrier with the rifle is what I need to do.

Sounds like lifting more is the way to go. In addition if you even get cheap little 5 or 10 pound dumbbells you can do a little routine at home of slow overhead claps, front claps, and military press. Do 10 reps of each, rotate to the next exercise .Do as many sets as you care to. I usually do this as a cool down from actual lifting, and it's a good way to get nice and stretched.

>>34625097
Are you really happy with that floppy rigger belt for your inner? Happy with the pistol holster sitting so high? You may want to look into adjusting these both.

I'll probably start doing those exercises. Hopefully they will help.

And I'm getting a new belt setup soon. I had always planned to replace the riggers belt, but I'm at the point that I would rather get a new system set up at this point than anything else.

There are four pretty popular ones with this board's users. I'll describe them briefly:

1. The Boot.
>usually self-inflicted, the boot involves the uniform shaving of the head with the same clippers the wearer uses to shave his sack and anus hair

2. The Bert.
>sometimes called a "high and tight", the sides and back of the head are shaved bald, and a small wisp of inch-long hair is left on the crown of the head, closely resembling the hairstyle of the character Bert from Sesame Street

3. The Military Discount.
>also referred to as an "AAFES", the military discount is a Bert with the bangs left as long as the wearer believes AR-670-1 permits them, but as he will soon be informed by the battalion CSM, he is wrong about that, and this haircut will also not in any way permit him to easily blend in at civilian nightclubs or colleges like he thinks it will, so that sucks even more, getting a haircut based on TWO (2) incorrect and idiotic presumptions

from the docs I've talked to a lot of the time stuffing the wound with any gauze is pants on head retarded, especially if you're deployed in some third world shithole.
you're basically, packing the patients wound with coagulants and bacteria deeper into the wound moreover is harder to clean out and will lead to infection.

when keeping the pressure on the wound with something like Israelis combat bandages keeps the wound sterile, well at least as sterile as you can in the field, and usually stops bleeding.
but one of the most important things about medical kits should be IMHO is getting your guy into the E.R. as fast as possible (preferably within the golden hour) and planning for an evac for the patient.

not to get too autistic

nah mr scout rifle is all fucked up. latest CoTCCC guidance is still to pack wounds with hemostatic gauze or regular gauze if necessary. remember that if you have a pelvic GSW that necessitates gauze packing, it could be a matter of death in 30 seconds if you don't get to business and pack that shit. Infection can suck my dick, not bleeding cause my femoral is all fucked up is the priority. And an izzy bandage definitely won't put enough pressure on something like i described above
>>
>>34630786
the main point of packing guaze is to apply more pressure on the wound.
hemostatic guaze are not going to do much if your femoral artery is severed.

the best thing you can do if that happens is trying to keep as much pressure on the wound as possible if you can get a tq over it that's great, and if you can start a blood transfusion if possible even better, but the main focus should be getting that guy to the doc as fast as possible.

but you're right if the wound is so high up the guys leg it's damn near in his torso and I can't get anything to work, I'd pack that wound as an attempt to get more pressure on the artery.

with all things it's situational.
>>
>>34631251
>you're right if the wound is so high up the guys leg it's damn near in his torso and I can't get anything to work, I'd pack that wound as an attempt to get more pressure on the artery.
literally the whole point of wound packing, who even reads the CoTCCC slides. Obviously you don't need to pack small cuts, it's for massive hemorrhage
>>
>>34628835
Get a frame, it makes it slightly better
>>

also forgot to add that literally putting the TQ on in the case of a severed femoral artery (at the leg level and not at the groin) is priority number 1. Someone can bleed out in well under a minute from that, unless the medic is right there in the room you're not going to move a patient fast enough for it to matter.

Looking for a scaleable slick plate carrier.

Perroz designs LPSPC or Ferro Slickster?
>>
Anyone here tried out the HTC low profile system? How was it? Was it worth the price?
>>
>>34632363
I have the Slickster. I have yet to take it to a class, but it's pretty comfortable on me, and I'm about 20 pounds overweight, and the stitching seems pretty solid.
I did a little bit of research before I bought it and I saw no complaints at all.
And it has some features that many other slick carriers don't, like the six side pockets. So you can just wear it and have 4 mags, an IFAK, and comms, while still being really low profile.

I have no idea what you are asking for here but High Threat Concealment makes a hybrid heavy duty belt that loops through the front two belt loops of your pants and widens out to 1.75" velcro lined to attach to a velcro underbelt for the rest of the way.
>>
>>34634724
How's that system? Is it actually concealable?

Its a Maxim CQB stock on a legally stamped lower

What's the point of these stocks? Isn't the whole setup actually heavier than a standard collapsible stock?

>What's the point of these stocks?
Compact, snag free and looking cool (to some). The entire stock is 5.375" closed vs 8" for a standard M4 stock.
>>34636062
>Isn't the whole setup actually heavier than a standard collapsible stock?
Its 18.59oz vs 17oz for a m4 stock (incl buffer+tube) and also adds 2x QD points

I got a really good deal on mine, I would be hard pressed to pay the asking price of $350-$450 for one but it is a neato platform. If I wanted to get even more compact I could throw a 8" 300blk upper on the rifle and enjoy something ridiculously compact.

How autistic would it be to use nomex coveralls as part of my larping kit?
>>
>>34636199
It'd be the fourth panel in a "how many layers of gear autism are you on" comic.
>>
>>34636062
Its meant for when you need to store an ar in as absolutely littlest space as possible. It's like 20% smaller for 300% the cost but to some people its worth it.

I wouldn't consider it unless I was doing a 8" upper

Not worth using a pouch if you don't have to worry about being tracked. Just bring TP and bury it away from a water source.
