Cuz it was a ban era rifle and that was what was put on it after the barrel was threaded. It's an early SE Vortex that was silver soldered to the muzzle in 1998ish. I want to replace it for a normal birdcage but I'm not sure how much of a pain it'll be to take this off, plus this has been on it for so long I'm kind of just used to it

I bought a Geissele MK14 before they sold out and after installing it had a slight bit of give where it could twist half a millimeter to the left and right when mounted on the barrel nut and tightened down, with enough force on the rail. I emailed Geissele and was told that they're redesigning the MK13 and MK14 with the anti-rotation tabs that their other rails have, and that batch will be ready in 13 weeks. The rep also said that if you have a MK14, they're offering either a return now for a MK4 or MK8, or a return when the new MK13/14 comes out to exchange for that.
