Gargantuanon can you edit these other pastebin links into the OP template in the master pastebin? The newer IFAK guide in this OP should replace the older one in the template IMO, most of the information is redundant and the newer guide goes more in depth (with the exception of the TQ list but that's not super important since it lists the good ones).
Aside from that just add the holster list and:
>join us on Discord [insert discord invite link here].
Old thread: [insert previous threads OP post # here]

It also wouldn't hurt having a pass over the approved pouches paste to update/expand information, Blu if you're down I can try and type some shit up and message you on discord to update it.

How many of you guys are vets?

Im not trying to be rude. I'm genuinely interested. I'm a civi and love this gq shit. Is it frowned on to be a civilian larper? Imo how is the 2a supposed to do its job if the people aren't equipped.

Okay pictures of MilSimWest/TacticalTailor Baofeng UV5R extended battery pouch incoming. This pouch is $35 or so and designed for the UV5R and other similar Baofeng radios with the extended battery.

Build quality is definitely there, and even overbuilt to an extent as with a lot of Tactical Tailor's non fight light pouches. Form factor is decent and so is the design except for the following malfunction.

Here is an image of the pouch performing as expected, keeping good retention of the radio.

As you can see in the first image the retaining string is in between the antenna and the power/volume control knob. The pouch is a clamshell type, and the halves cannot shear with respect to one another so long as that retaining lanyard is in between the antenna and knob. Obviously it can't go towards the right since the antenna is in the way but with enough vigorous movement the lanyard and walk up and over the power/volume knob.

Pic related is the lanyard up and over the power/volume knob. Granted I've had this pouch for about a year now with a decent amount of drilling and running around having been done with it, and this has only happened a handful of times, but it still is certainly problematic as you will lose your radio if you don't catch it happening.

Here is a picture of the pouch once it has completely failed. The retaining lanyard has moved off of the top of the pouch, and the radio is no longer being held in by anything except the friction of the inside of the pouch. No active retention.

This has only happened to me once, but the radio was about to fall out when it happened.

Here is an open image of the pouch itself so you can get an idea of the inside. It is an okay pouch, and I've already sunk my money into it (I don't think there is much of a resale market for these things, and I don't know of any other options).

The tripfriend calvinn recently drafted up some quick CAD 3D printer compatible files of an extended/taller power/volume knob. He's printed a few out and tweaked them till he could confirm good fitment with the D-shaft of the power/volume potentiometer/switch.

We were having a hard time finding readily available commercial non bulk knobs that would fit the D-Shaft as it is some weird size. Flat face of D shaft is 3mm wide, dimension from flat face to curved shaft face is 4mm, and actual circular diameter of D shaft is something weird like 3/16" or 4.75mm.

Should be testing out the knob calvinn printed pretty soon here and hopefully it solves the problem.

Open to any recommendations for other UV5R pouches (extended battery capable), or d-shaft knobs I guess, but no one is probably going to find any.

Much appreciated, this makes a lot more sense now with images to explain. I have two points.
1.) Most people run an external PTT to their headset or speakermic. The plug for the PTT is on the side of the radio as the volume knob. This *might* prevent the cord from slipping off although idk how well.
2.) Have you tried contacting Tactical Tailor to voice your concerns? Now that you have images I would definitely do that. I'm just curious what their response would be.

Yeah I haven't tried the PTT, might help. Good idea.

Also haven't contacted tactical tailor. All they need is a tiny strip of velcro at the top you know.

Image of the prototype knob. Looks funky but should work decent and might even make adjustments easier when it is in the pouch.

>The flagship, a 1942 Waco, was flown by Fred R. Cabanas, a legendary stunt pilot and Ambassador for the Conch Republic at air shows worldwide. He flew "Conch Fury" in the 2005 Reno Air Races. Fred was declared General of the Air Force by the mayor of Key West after intercepting a defecting Cuban MiG-23 with his Pitts Special in 1991.

Also they got a semiformal surrender from the US Army
>On September 20, 1995, it was reported that the 478th Civil Affairs Battalion of the United States Army Reserve was to conduct a training exercise simulating an invasion of a foreign island. They were to land on Key West and conduct affairs as if the islanders were foreign. However, no one from the 478th notified Conch officials of the exercise.

Seeing another chance at publicity, Wardlow and the forces behind the 1982 Conch Republic secession mobilized the island for a full-scale war (in the Conch Republic, this involved firing water cannons from fireboats and hitting people with stale Cuban bread), and protested to the Department of Defense for arranging this exercise without consulting the City of Key West. The leaders of the 478th issued an apology the next day, saying they "in no way meant to challenge or impugn the sovereignty of the Conch Republic", and submitted to a surrender ceremony on September 22.

It *can* be done alone, however it's a pain. The other issue is that if you have big calves, the zipper on the back of the legs may be impossibru for you to do alone, as you need you leg straight for it to zip up.

It was not uncommon for even mildly stout guys to need leg extenders on the back of the legs, and those only work right if you then straighten your leg out and have somebody make the velcro straps tight to compensate for any looseness.

Also, $85 + shipping is nothing, Crye G3s are $200~ and Drifire foretrex combat pants are $500

And yes to keep the duct tape on a spool. That way I can just pull as much as I need without this small roll of duct tape hanging around and then me forgetting it, or dropping it inna dirt somewhere. If you pull hard enough It comes out too, so its not fixed on there that much. Just enough to prevent it from falling out when you open the pouch and fumble around for stuff.

In the market for some decent pants. I have some airshit knock offs woodland g3's that are better than bdu but I'm looking at LAPG pants for use. Budget is anywhere up to 100$ but I'm looking for solid colors here
>>
>>34524381
LAPG isnt a bad choice, its mid tier chinashit. Not terrible by any measure of the term but dont expect crye tier. Mine served me well for a couple years
>>
>>34524377
This is just off the top of my head so I may forget something.. This wasnt a pre-purchased kit

>CAT TQ
>Combat Gauze
>H and H Comp. Gauze
>Gloves
>Sharpie
>Medical Sheers
>NPA
>Duct Tape
>Hyfin Chest Seals
>Small amount of basic meds
>Medical Card w/ bungee
>(Not shown) Needle Decomp

Depending on what im doing and what im carrying I alter the amount and location of each of those items. Usually I carry the "boo-boo" shit in my chest rig along with another TQ. So everything is subject to change. But generally its safe to say that if im in full kit, I have all those items, and things like the gauze I obviously carry a number of them.

>>34524381
Check out Prana Brion, these also make cargo pant versions. Not very thicc but they are really nice outdoor pants, and not very "Mall ninja".
>>
>>34524474
>>34524474
sounds exactly like mine except I have a few things in the mail on the way to throw in there, don't have a needle or a medical card or that duct tape though.

got an israeli bandage, chem lights, and blood clot on the way.

Only just occured to me the other day to keep 'boo boo' shit for daily small injuries somewhere else
>>
>>34524510
I have the decomp only because im trained to use it, the medical card because I just write down some basic information about me (Medications, medical issues, surgeries, etc) and the duct tape is one just incredibly useful in almost every situation. I just find duct tape works better than medical tape for situations I've used it in, but everyone is different.

Help me out /gq/

I've got an AR and a usp45t as a sidearm. I have a holster for the usp45t, mags and ammo for both. All I have for gear is a double AR mag pouch.

What gear should I prioritize first? Belt and ammo holders? Plates + PC?

Get a chest rig or a belt set up. Surplus eagle industries belts go for like 20$ on Amazon and are pretty good quality. Save up another 60$ and buy some gcode mag pouches and then a dump pouch and ifak

There was an issue a few years back where people were shooting themselves in the leg on the draw stroke because they don't know how to draw from a SERPA properly. Basically they applied constant pressure with their index finger after releasing the locking piece, this then resulted in their finger hitting the trigger once they cleared the holster.

Basically don't be a retard and draw properly. Other, better designed, holsters exist (at more cost?) but if you're familiar with the issue and want to buy a SERPA go ahead, they're perfectly fine quality wise.

I saw A2Grip's and it is pretty decent and nifty piece of what is essentially web gear. If you've got an AK or Galil type rifle it is a solid choice if you don't see yourself expanding, but keep in mind for $160 you're locking yourself out of the whole modern carrier and battle belt or chest rig and battle belt game.

Holds water, tons of ammo, and has plenty of extra pouches to spare. Build quality is good to go AFAIK. Just recognize that you're not getting any scaling or modular capability.

I dont know any brands that have the flared shoulder pockets with dark velcro, might have been an add-on by the costumes dept.

Used them overseas. The switches are kind of garbage and the button gets filled with moon dust if thats the environment you're in. Also awkward to adjust.

I have replaced the belt and gloves since that pic was taken, and switch to a multicam camel back carrier. I see a lot of hate for the sidwinder around but other than the fact that the ir led is only bright enough for IFF it has worked well for me so far.
>>
>>34539021
The light itself is not bad. A quick review from me.. (which means nothing).. Overpriced for what it is. The dial is kinda hard to use at times.. But the biggest complaint is the strap or whatever you wanna call it. It promotes the ability to strap it onto some MOLLE, and it just sucks. it always falls off, you have to dummy cord it. Youd just be better off using a headlamp honestly. And yes you can mount that to your helmet, but its a pain in the ass.

My complaint is for the money, its not bad, but the clip really sets people up for failure. Its a good idea, just doesn't work that well.
>>
>>34538852
Decent score improvements will be made.
>>
>>34539056
Not sure if they improved the clip or something before I bought it but mine stays on my molle pretty well, never had it come off unintentionally but maybe the molle I attach it to is just tighter against the plate than typical, I do have steel plates with a heavy spall lining.

Lel opportune usage of that image.
I would estimate 15lbs with 2L or water, 4 rifle mags, IFAK, radio, Glock, and 2 pistol mags.

I don't drill dumping mags to my dump pouch. If I'm drilling, I dump the mag on the ground. I use the pouch to police mags and misc crap.

The switch covers break off easily but if you find them for like 30 bucks at a gunshow or something its worth. The IFF is handy if you have nods and the IR version is really only good for small indoor rooms. I have one on my ACH but on my other helmet I used a cheap chink IR light that works well enough.

Anyone have experience with these gloves. Planning on getting a pair to try them out.

Lifetime warranty and only $40.
>>
>>34542556
>Hard knuckles
Unless you do boxing practice in them or ride a motorcycle, hard knuckle gloves are an uncomfortable, bulky meme.

>Lifetime warranty
Neat I guess, but I've never seen a single pair of gloves of any brand stand up to more than year of deployed or every day use. Of course mileage may vary if you are pulling them out twice a year for a carbine class.
>>
>>34542556
They suck. So do the oakleys. They literally rip apartt like wet paper
>>

if your going to get hard knuckles then the magpul core breachers are the only ones that worth a shit.

Yes. I have one as well, they were issued by SOC LLC to ugandans who worked as human sentries at the ends of runways and other irrelevant places. They were also given WASRs that came back into the states looking natty as fuck.

NV is awesome, but if your car is only worth $4k, I'd recommend you save your money to upgrayydd your living conditions before dropping big cash on fun toys.
>>
>>34544082
Don't listen to >>34544103

If you have a good reliable vehicle, that does what you need it to do, there is no need to go out and spend 20k on a new vehicle.

But the question of "is a 4k nvd unit worth it?" Is a question for you to ask yourself. You would probably just be dicking around with this thing right? This isn't really an investment that you are going to make money off of. So it's a question for yourself, not other people.
>>
>>34544082
Keep in mind the auxiliary costs associated with using this
>Helmet
>Mount
>Laser
>Suppressor

If you have/have the money for all of that you will be in for a fun as fuck time.

> But it's worth more than my car.
I know that feel, I have a couple guns worth more than my truck.

>but none worth more than my car
>>
>>34542884

Yeah, I remember them: the NODs, WASR, AND the Ugandans.

I almost got one of the PS-14s, but I was a little concerned about how much they had be ran, and if they'd been kept out of direct sunlight while on.

Still, the price was unbeatable.

>If you have a good reliable vehicle, that does what you need it to do, there is no need to go out and spend 20k on a new vehicle.

I didn't say go buy a new car with the money, my good faggot. I used it as an indicator that there are likely more functional things that someone in his position could buy to better his position in life. NODs are great fun, but they don't really do anything for you. Seeing that something like 50%+ of people can't scrape together $500 for an emergency, and seeing that our good anon finds $4k to be a lot of cash says that recommending savings/investings over spendings is wise, if boring.

Do dog handlers have specific gear set ups? Im am currently at what I would call a peewee level of man trailing (he is 18 months old) with my dog and love it.

I have yet to find a club that does the style of combat tracking we do, tracking through drive then slowing right down as the scent gets more intense and passive indicating to a person or persons so normally just do it on joggers scent trails.

The stuff I want to carry while on a planned 36 hr training scenario is (we wont be tracking joggers, a friend will be the hare and we will play the hound) -

Loadout to take is -

2x 2L south african canteens
22" 870 with ghost ring sights.
120rds of 12g
IFAK adapted for myself and the dog (skin stapler is goat for hand cuts)
German rubber poncho
30ft biothane tracking line
Tracking harness
Muzzle
Biothane jager leash
Spare biothane waist leash
Poncho liner
Field knife
Brew kit
Emergency ration (myself and dog)

I am thinking waist webbing with a butt pack would be suitable for this with ammunition in belts stacked around torso.

In lieu of the 870 I could take my .308 practical rifle (a scout rifle but not so ridgidly adhering to coopers ideas) but the AO is a mountain side of dense undergrowth and deep ravines with creeks so line of sight is 100ft at max. No I dont own a semi auto rifle due to mag cap bans.
