Real retard explanation here;
>what are
Hemostatic Agents are a series of clotting aids to slow bleeding. They can be found in granuals or impregnated dressings.
Chest seals are basically big stickers that have a vent in them. If you get shot you apply the sticker to the chest to prevent air from filling the chest and crushing important bits.
>where can I find those?
I buy mine locally but probably amazon or something

I'm usually more /o/ than /gearqueer/ so I want to ask you guys, do you actually do any hiking and backpacking? Do you guys realize most of your gear is fuckhuge and heavy? Do you not like the idea of ultralight gear? My gear is basically my ultralight backpacking set up + a light chest rig like this guy has >>34491998 for 4 mags, a dump pouch on my belt and my side arm is carried just like I carry it everyday, appendix IWB with a light weight trigger guard. Also most of my clothes being a backpacking fag are neutral non military looking colors or earth friendly colors, some blue here and there.

Has anyone here actually done multiple day hikes with all your gear outside of your military days? How do you guys plan on keeping your gear lightweight?

>>34492221
If I have to hike around with all of my gear I am probably going to leave the carrier at home and switch to a lighter rig such as a battle jacket or a chest rig. Obviously practicing in the armor is more difficult and forces you to take more things into consideration so thats why Im usually using plates for recreational shooting. This is also one of the reasons I dont really get too upset about plate weight and opt for full protection if Im going plates.

>Multi day hikes
Backpacking is entirely different hobby than gear queering, and while there is a good deal of intersection, recognize that they are separate. Backpacking is also very expensive, especially if you're trying to buy "tactical" backpacking gear as the market for that stuff is tiny (Arterxy and Mystery Ranch are all that come to mind).

For example what you posted is entirely /out/ related, and only related to /gq/ in as much as backpacking is related to prepping, which it isn't really even since most people in most SHTF situations will be bugging in.

If you're trying to do the LRRP /GQ/, recognize that you're basically trying to do two very expensive hobbies at once, and there will be correspondingly less people interested in your neato combination hobby.

>Neutral non military looking colors
That isn't what gear queer is about, and that is why often people like you get referred to /out/.

For example I bought an REI hardshell and was considering it as part of my gear setup. It had a pretty nice olive outer color, but the inside was essentially bright weight and even the olive outer color wasn't exactly subdued enough to be considered "military" (See Oregano colored REA Talusphere jacket). I returned not only because it leaked, but because it wasn't "gear" enough for me. I ended up getting a 5.11 jacket primarily because it truly was low vis.

Says the resident retard Calicuck.
Not it isn't legal, as it isn't approved, regardless of power output. Even on low power output, 2 watts IIRC it still is above limit, it not being approved notwithstanding.

Not I'm not saying that you shouldn't use your UV5R on FRS or GMRS, in fact that is basically their best usage, a cheap high power walkie that can do HAM in a pinch, but don't go telling people something is legal when it isn't.

Nice picture and setup by the way.

>No bully i'm repeating what i was told by ham fags in these threads
Hey man I didn't bully that much, I said nice setup and picture. Also nice rare pepe.

To clarify, FRS is restricted to half a watt, which is less than the UV5Rs lowest power setting, and GMRS while restricted to 50 watts on most channels, is restricted to 5 watts on some channels. GMRS requires a license, and both FRS and GMRS are restricted to usage on FCC approved radios for FRS and GMRS, the UV5R not being one of these approved radios.

MURS is restricted to 2 watts, so low power Baofengs should be okay, but also restricted to MURS approved radios, the UV5R not being on of them.

The bottom line is that using a Baofeng in almost anyway is illegal other than as a licensed HAM, but we all do it anyway. If you're going to be breaking the law you sure as hell better know what you're breaking, and why it is bullshit. But I wouldn't expect such a freeman's attitude from a calicuck.

Long story short, MURS, and FRS are definitely good to go. Avoid GMRS and HAM obviously if you're trying to stay on the safe side. Dabble in GMRS if you want, and if you start messing with HAM recognize that of all the usages of a UV5R, unlicensed HAM usage is the most likely to get your in trouble and the most trouble you'll get in. Not that it is all that likely anyway.

>>34492743

the feeling of cold is relative, but California has large mountains and snow which counts as "cold". your not going to survive in certain parts of the state in the middle of winter in jeans and a sweat shirt. we aren't saying its fucking north Dakota up in this bitch but California is probably the only state that has every type of outdoor situation you can run into.

Not yet, been looking at other bags first, like pic related

Why would 5.11 do that? Make a vertical pouch that wouldn't fit on the side of anything except their most expensive backpack? Did I just answer my own question?
>>
>>34494501
http://www.optactical.com/soutla3cowi.html
This specifically states it requires 3 columns of webbing to fit. Velcro/buckle closure may not be what you want though.

http://www.optactical.com/blfohewhmeve.html
You can also look into this, doesn't state how many columns it requires and no photos of the back side. Check the manufacturer website, they probably have more info or pictures.

One other option that comes to mind is the ATS Small vertical GP pouch. I tried to pull up more info for you but my internet is really slow and I ran out of patience so yeah.

Ranger will probably be too bright most of the year if you arent innawoods. The easiest thing you can do is go buy some cheap condor mag pouches in various colors and throw them in the brush/woods/whatever. Only you can decide what camo is good for you

Hey guys can anyone with a UV5R do me a favor? Can you pop off your on/off/volume knob, it just pulls straight up and off, and measure the approximate shaft diameter of the power/volume switch/potentiometer?

I'm getting 185 thousandths of an inch, 0.185", or about 4.7mm by measure the diameter from curve side to curved side. Is that the correct way to measure d shaft diameter?

Measured flat of the D to curved part is 0.157" or 4mm

I ask because I'm trying to grab a replacement D-Shaft knob for my UV5R, and I don't see any 4.7mm/0.185" D-shaft diameter knobs out there.

I do see 4mm knobs though...

Thanks for the help guys. This is for an attempt to fix a problem with the MSW/TacticalTailor UV5R pouch where it slides from side to side.
>>
>>34496487
I got a maximum diameter of 0.188", it's a D shaft

I see 4mm and 5mm knobs.

Based on some searching, I think 5mm is the right size, all the replacement pots have 5mm shafts. Here's and example on Amazon: B01MU751MR
>>
>>34496620
Did some more measuring and searching. The width of the flat section itself seems to be a solid 3mm, and the "diameter", or better the distance from the flat face to the outer curved face seems to be a solid 4mm.

Seems like a 4mm shaft, 3mm flat D knob as they call it. Which is weird because the replacement pots you linked say 5mm shaft diameter, which doesn't match up to any of the measurements we got since 0.188" is 4.77mm

Found something decent that is about twice as tall as the factory knob, but it might be a bit wide to fit in the recess. Minimum order from the manufacturer is 500 pieces though so might have to call tomorrow.

https://www.selcoproducts.com/products/d-shafts-with-compression-ring-with-line-knob-dak151-004

I guess you could also go with a 5mm set screw knob and just torque the set screw down.

Dude if you custom model one that would be killer, and I would totally buy it from you. What matters most is that it is taller, and stays on well. Stock knob seems to be 12mm tall, and I think 20-25mm tall or so would do the trick. Maybe the other guys will buy them as well.

Could you take the OEM one and just extrude it up?

I can't find any 4.7-5mm shaft set screw knobs either, which is weird since that seems like it would be common.

Not so much a BoB but a general daytime shooting/camping bag. The Rush24 is almost exactly what I want, except for 5.11s vertical brands are one loop too wide to fit on the sides. First bit of my July 4th order came in.

I'll start with the bad. I knew that 10x12" was a nominal plate size, and that often 10x12" plates aren't actually 10x12". I ordered a set of 10x12" plates from Armour Wear, level IV ceramics, but they appear to be 9.5"x11.25"
Maybe 9.75x11.75" if you're going to be generous. I'm kinda upset because I thought they were going to be an honest 10x12", or at least an honest 9.8"x11.8" or so. I mean you really gotta stretch to say these are 10x12....

Quality appears meh. My HESCO plates were definitely nicer, but these were quite cheap.

Does anyone have any 10x12" ceramics they can measure?

I'm strongly considering calling them and at least asking for an explanation. I'm kinda a wide guy and I was really hoping for that 10" wide plate.

In other good news, the HSGI AO chest rig came, as well as the Tactical Tailor Fight Light Smoke/Flash pouch, my second ATS Small Upright GP pouch, and the Velocity Systems swift clips.

HSGI chest rig seems quite good. I'm excited to eventually upgrade my ATS war belt to the HSGI sure grip because the quality is clearly there. TT Fight Light smoke pouch seems solid so far. Good construction and some rubber backing as well. Smaller than I thought it would be, but it should fit a single EG18X no problem.

ATS Small Upright GP is as good as the first one I bought obviously. These make great Nalgene pouches I've found. Good quality.

Velocity systems swift clips are simple little pieces, but the quality makes me excited for my Velocity Systems Lightweight Plate Carrier that should be shipping in a few days.

I shoot with other people all the time and it isn't an issue. Sorry I'm civilian.
Not going to charge the weapon on an empty chamber just to flip it to safe for morons without mental flexibility.

If my AR is on safe that means there is a round in the chamber and the hammer is back. If my AR is on fire I'm either in the middle of shooting it, or it is being stored for the time being.

Water is important? 3L is what most hydration bladders hold, and tons of guys use those.

Beer can fits perfectly, if a tiny bit snug.

I question the bulk of 3 1L nalgenes + pouches vs a single hydration carrier.

You did indeed say bottle. Welp.

I want to keep my back clear for packs and vehicles, with the full understanding of how shitty it is to have a pack over a carrier. Nalgenes also are useful in different ways than bladders as they are rigid and can act as general containers. Plus they are obviously more durable.

Total volume quite literally cannot be that much different. Obviously form factor differs, but a 1L nalgene is comparable to a double taco pouch. Ain't no thang. I own a 3L camelback bladder and minimal hydrapack that can always be used in a pinch.

I feel weird about the plates.

If you had a metal milsurp style canteen I would accept this answer but dont try to boil shit in a nalgene. What are you going to use them for? Catching butterflies? Holding your 22lr stash? Sensitive site exploitation?

I'll be honest catching butterflies was the primary secondary purpose, but what is sensitive site exploitation?

In my experience bladders get gross, can't be used for making beverage base powder, don't scoop water well, aren't ideal for treating water with tabs, and are less durable. Single quart canteens got tons of guys through nam. Water bottles aren't that bad.

I promise I'll stop at 3 Nalgenes. I might buy another ATS small upright GP to replace the tactical tailor canteen pouch though since I don't like it much.
>>
>>34508635
Another downside of canteens or bottles is unless they are completely full or completely empty they will make sloshing noises when you move.

I have 2 of those. Want another.

Only as dumb as carrying more than one single quart canteen.

>Eternal child, Physics undergraduate, Critical thinker, Former Bomb Tech Answered Apr 21, 2015 I never drank out of a canteen once I got out of TRADOC (OSUT and Airborne). In Iraq and Afghanistan, most of us just used water bottles. You get your drinking water from pallets of water bottles, why waste time putting it in another container? Water bottles are lighter than canteens and when you're done with it, just ditch it or crush it and pack it away. Need more water? Throw more bottles in your pack. Some people use camelbaks but I didn't bother with them. I have seen dudes pop them from rough handling (resulting in their gear getting wet) or bite valves get nasty or just come off so water leaks continuously.

He's talking about cheap plastic water bottles but there is some overlap.

More importantly? Are there any 10x12" plates that are actually 10x12"?

I've got two of the stainless steel olicamp ones. I ordered them from OPT. Haven't used them over a fire or anything unfortunately so can't talk about that. They stay at the bottom of my god forsaken nalgene pouches, and give the pouches a nice skeleton that makes it easier to put a Nalgene back in. They're pretty light.

You could cook in one in a pinch for sure. Stainless containers are nice to have.
>>
>>34508861
then they should advertise the plates as medium sapi cut not 10x12
>>
>>34508861
Are medium SAPIs standard or are large standard?

I really could use the extra width though.
I ordered 10x12" and was expecting like at least 9.8x11.8"

These are more realistically 9.6x11.6" or something. More about the principle than anything else I guess. $285 shipped so can't complain too much.

Oh they are NIJ 04/05 level IV
Is that just an older testing procedure? Any big differences?

Basically they're just small ass 10x12"s and that is lame since they are advertised as 10x12"s.

>>
>>34509847
It is nice to have a real camelbak bladder. Cheaper bladders are more prone to leaking and breaking.

Baofeng could do it Basically you have one channel you are listening on and another you are transmitting on. Then you program your radio as such and it will be as easy as pressing the talk button. You could also do this with a repeater for full party line mode.

However I must caution you, if you dont know what youre doing you will probably end up stepping on hamfag feet and will fell the wrath of their rascal scooters.
