I do use 147gr +p in my CZ Scorpion though. It's probably unnecessary, but with the added barrel length I'm able to take advantage of the hotter load.
>>34513002
I use a 50/200 zero. Those are graduations for range. So I zero at 200, then want to take a shot at a target at 500, turn the dial until it reads 500. Take the shot and if I do my part it should hit somewhere around point of aim.
Not really for "zeroing at those ranges" but I suppose you could use it like that.

Appreciate it - what you described is what I was meaning, I suppose. Just didn't know how to word it properly.
If I understand correctly, zeroing at 200 means the projectile will intersect with your point of aim at both 50, and 200, correct? Is that the same case with 500, 600, etc? Sorry for the questions.

They are great guns. I've had mine for a little over a year and have ~3k rounds though it. I've got the Manticore collapsing stock on it as well as an HB Industries handguard, plus a few other extras. The only thing I'd say you "need" to change on the gun is the horrid safety, get a left or right side delete depending on your preference. Only issue I've had with it was some shitty steel cased under loaded 9mm, don't remember manufacturer, and that was only 7 short cycles out of 300 rounds of that shit.
>>34513085
I'm assuming you get a feel for where to line up your shots when under 50m? As in you just naturally aim a little lower when shooting at 25m or a little higher at 100m? Is it similar to point shooting?
Again, thanks for the answers anon.

That AR build is somewhat ironic. I built it out of all my least favorite components because it's meant to be the one that sits out all the time instead of being locked up. I keep it and a stack of my least favorite/most malfunctional magazines in case of a break-in when I'm not home. Hopefully they'll just take the one AR and not bother trying to find/access the others.

>>34513049
Fuck
>>34513206
I use a UTG, try to contain yourself
>>34513111
No problem my dude. If it's under 50 I pretty much just point shoot without compensating. If I was trying to be as accurate as possible I would.
But look at what you're asking as compared to the diagram. If target is at the muzzle, who cares, how can you miss. At 50 the bullet is traveling 1" below your aim, no need to compensate there for a solid hit. At 50 POA and POI intersect, no need to compensate. At 100M the bullet is 2" high (insert weed joke), if I'm firing at a target, just aim 2" low. If I'm aiming at a combatant, I think he'll complain the same if the bullet hits him 2" higher than I aimed. Then at 200m POA and POI line up again.
Now this all can go out the window with variable zoom optics, or those with bullet drop compensating reticles. Right now I use a red dot so there really is no adjustment to it other the Kentucky windage.
>>34513241
Very good points. Didn't really stop to think about that. That inch or so difference is negligible when shooting for effect, not accuracy.
It's kind of sad, I was in the air force so I've shot weapons and even got my marksman ribbon. Buuuuuuuut it was a secret squirrel role in the AF. I never touched a weapon besides basic and re-qualing for deployments. Just now getting an interest in weapons.

>>34513306

>>34513303
Exactly how is it stupid. I fucking laugh at people who leave their prize ARs out in the open all the time, thinking the likelihood of them using them for home defense is higher than the likelihood of them simply getting jacked when they're not around.
>>34513349
Shid, I need to git gud. I think I was starting to drop off at 20some yards point

Walk it out. What I do is, pick a distance, start doing it, either double taps or Djibouti triple shooties and when you get comfortable move it back 5 or 10. By the end of the day you'll be out there.
If you start out just "imma try for 50", you'll be missing left and right, get frustrated, burnt out, etc.
You gotta ease into like doing anal with your girl friend. If you jump out there and just go balls deep, well guess whos never doing anal again? But take you're time, loosen up, work it up in increments.....you get the idea.

>>34514706
I've had it happen too. Magpuls a best.
>>34514714
It jammed loading 11 rounds. Turned it upside down and 8 rounds fell out like a dr8co shit.
>>34514706
Hey burp what type of grease do u use on your AR?
is 1k for an AR (california) featureless a good amount? Or should I save up more? (not including taxes)
>>34514800
No spend $3000
>>34514783
I don't grease AR parts except trigger and barrel nut, is that what you mean? EP moly grease on barrel nut, Aeroshell #6 on trigger pins ONLY, oil everywhere else.
I find that grease fills up with carbon and garbage too fast, and I have had full auto malfunctions in my 9mm caused by grease retarding the bolt, allowing hammer follow. Scary stuff, I don't fuck with grease anymore.
>>34514861
Do you not grease the buffer tube or flash hider?
>>34514879
you greased your flash hider?
>>34514879
>greasing the flash hider
>>34514861
>he doesn't grease the buffer tube for increased lubricant and reduced noise
>>34514904
I dont even have grease yet but I saw a youtube vid and the guy said to grease it.
>>34514913
just oil it faggot
>>34514879
Flash hider would get too hot for any type of grease, it'd flash off and also you want the flash hider to stay on. Buffer tube gets 3-6 drops of oil only if it's really noisy, otherwise I leave it dry. Oil in there is just a trap for more carbon dust.
>>34514904
>gun owners not realizing threads should have something on them
>>34514926
Rocksett
>>34514926
This desu
>>34514920
Kys faggot
>>34514926
You don't grease your barrel threads. You use rocksett or a crush washer.
>>34514937
>>34514937
>>34514905
>>34514904
So do I grease my flash hider or naw?
>needing oil/grease
>>34514706
I've been waiting forever for these mag reviews burt
>>34514932
>rocksett
>something
checks out!
>>34514926
You WANT the muzzle device to fuse on, no oil or grease on threads. Some people go a step further and use Rocksett.
>>34514917
Beware youtube, I saw a video where a dude slathered, fucking SLATHERED the barrel nut in so much grease that it squeezed out all over the receiver when he threaded it on. He even greased the receiver and barrel extension! There's no way he got an accurate torque reading with all that shit in there, and it's likely a ticking time bomb.
Protip: Just BARELY grease the barrel nut.
Lost my job yesterday. Probably going to kill myself.
>>34514955
Nah I don't bother
>>34514922
When I said greasing the buffer tube I meant the threads on it.
>>34514969
Too much grease won't give a false torque reading, it will just make a huge mess
>>34514971
>Probably going to kill myself.
Don't. What happened?
>>34514975
Yeah, you should do that.
>>34512365
Looks like a mk14, malkoff head, and a Kahles
>>34514971
>Probably going to kill myself.
Why? You're not this guy.
>>34514975
Oh.
I don't. It shouldn't hurt anything if you are also staking your castle nut. But I don't stake any of my castle nuts either because I want to take things apart without being destructive. So for that reason I do not oil or grease the threads, I want the best chance for it to stay on without staking.
>>34514981
Ill give ur mom a false torque reading
>>34514971
Pls don't, somebody lower than you in society will have to clean you up. Think about that.
There's always someone worse off than you.

Where did you find a 60in handguard? Been looking for ages
>>34514529
I was thinking that, but I'll buy a second rifle before I can justify spending that much on another piece of glass. I only have the elcan because I picked it up for $275 with dead electronics, and had it repaired by the factory for like $100.
I really want one of those though. I want to mount my other acog on top of it.
>>34515482
When are you coming over to my house for the NWINVG ASSC sleepover?
Hi bois
Could any of you tentleman recommend a solid gun safe for long guns? I need a smallish one since I have an upstairs bedroom in a townhouse.
>>34516614
>tentleman
>>34512651
that look like the impact zone in west houston.
Dear /ARG/
What iron sights should I get for my first gun, an AR. I want something that will be good for accuracy practice.
Sincerely, newgunz
>>34512639
Wow, that's nice.
1/7 twist or 1/9 twist for a 20" barrel
I will be mostly shooting 55gr bullets while occasionally using 70-77gr bullets for hunting.
