Who was the anon who was asking if anyone was selling plums a couple of threads ago? I went through mine and found a couple I'm willing to part with, but they're a bit more unique compared to the typical shiny beaters Legion and Circle 10 were selling.

One is a matte NOS with excellent ink stamps (including a super-faint OTK stamp, which I've never seen on a plum), and the other is matte and heavily worn but SUPER colorful and has plenty of trench art.

If I part with them, I'll probably ask for more than the "beater" plum prices as a result, but at least you'll know what you're getting.

It would have to be Russian and preferably a mostly matching kit with 70's barrel parts. There are some really nice original barrel Russian AKMS kits out there that would fit the bill. That's the dream. Short of that I'd just get a polish underfolder like yours. Cause if I couldn't do the Russian AKMS satisfactorily then I wouldn't want to do it at all, it'd just frustrate me. But if I still craved an underfolder, polish.

Ehh it depends. Chinese is good but I'm assuming normal sporter means no threaded muzzle and slant back, so if those are issues to you take them into account. Factory underfolder WASRs are also pretty cool and you don't see them as often as you used to. I'd personally go for the underfolder WASR as i don't have an underfolder and because I've already got Chinkshit, but if you don't have a standard AK I'd get the Mak90 and at least put some standard furniture on it. Underfolders are cool but I wouldn't want one if it was my only AK

Don't worry about the lack of threads, my vz doesn't have a threaded muzzle and I've had that rifle for like 10 years. 7.62x39 doesn't feel all that different with or without a slant. If you're wanting to put a fancy brake on it you could just have it threaded but I wouldn't even care about threads

I don't have a good answer as to why they did it. I have never seen anything but quality when it comes to the metal quality of chicom rifles. Once again I am biased.

Some say the thicker receiver helps with accuracy due to less metal stress. Mine is and always has been incredible accurate for what I need it to do.

I'm getting to get a WASR 10/63 underfolder from my friendly local pawn shop. Babby's first Kalash.

Upsides: It seems pretty straight, clean, and tight for an older WASR (at least to my newfag eyes).

Downsides: it's been bubba'd. Tapco trigger, Tapco muzzle device (those may be an import req things), Magpul pistol grip, quad rail fore end, angled forward grip.

Down/up side: also has a Surefire weapon light mounted with a pressure switch and an IR filter. I figure that'll be good to have. Even if it's heretical to keep it on the AK, it would work for an AR or social shotgun.

For $700, do it. It sounds like the Surefire is an M951 or similar, so you can get at least $75 back for that alone on the low end of things should you decide you don't want it. All the bubba stuff sounds very undoable very quickly too if they aren't to your liking, and even then the only thing that actually sounds "bubba" is the rails and AFG. Pistol grip is a personal preference thing and the Tapco 922r parts are honestly fine.
