Bump for following questions. Please guys I'd like to make a decision in time to catch the current sales.

Will this chest rig work with this carrier:
http://www.skdtac.com/HSGI-AO-Small-Chest-Rig-p/hsg.550.htm

http://www.optactical.com/vesyliweplca.html

How important is a rear drag handle?
How important is rear molle?

Also is this one the same as the other one I linked?
https://www.skdtac.com/Velocity-Systems-LWPC-Light-Weight-Plate-Carrier-p/3sk.127.htm

It doesn't look like it has the front velcro for interfacing with D3CR and similar chest rigs.

Also will 10x12' Multicurve 1" thick plates fit in a small/medium sapi carrier?
>>
>>34433882
the chest rig should work yeah.
the plate carriers look the same just the OPtactical one seems to have a velcro front pad instead of the slick one from SKD
>>
I need a simple chest rig for taking an intro carbine course lads

Not really interested in it being compatible with plates or whatever.

Velocity Systems LWPC in Small/Med sapi locally confirmed for fitting Armour Wear Multi Curve 10x12 Level IV plates.

Velocity Systems Lightweight Plate Carrier also locally confirmed for being discontinued.

So my line one battle belt rig has 4x rifle mags, 2x pistol mags, 2x 1L nalgene, IFAK, radio, dump pouch, and pistol on it.

What should go on a line two chest rig/carrier?
3 more rifle mags? Another Nalgene lel?

With the rear drag handle and molle it is dependent on what you are doing with it. In a tactical scenario it would be good to have both. You could attach a water source, comms gear, TQ, etc. And the drag handle is good if you get shot or blown up and need to be pulled into cover in a hurry.

>>34435411

Oh yes, the shells are held in a elastic bandoleer strap, the inner 6 are attached to the pouch itself, the outer 6 hang down from those and are normally held up by a snap at the top of the pouch. Then the whole lot is retained by the flaps. Once one pouch is empty it lays flat and doesn't interfere much with the next one.

>>34437182

Don't have a pic of that set but it's just a Bogota rake, serpentine rake, low J hook, high J hook, half diamond pick, Peterson Gem and Prybar and a trio of bottom of keyway tensioners in various widths and thicknesses and a Sparrows Mini-Jim That's about all you can fit in that pouch, it's very small.

Nice, I use a Sparrows Sherman case for my work kit, it has room for screwdriver, plug followers, assorted bypass tools, pin mat, tweezers, as well as picks, rakes and tensioners. Though since I work for an auto auction I use a long reach tool or jiggler keys more often than picks.
Forgive the shitty pic, took that with my old iPod a while back.

General noob here, and was looking for some pointers.

I bought an AR500 level III set of plates and banshee carrier as a starting point/loaner/kickaround/+1, but now I want to get something both more ergonomic and hopefully easier to put on.

Does anyone have suggestions? For reference I'm 5' 10" 42 inch chest (probably more like 44; been working out since I last measured), 33 inch waist. I'm not even sure what size plate I should be wearing, since I'm kinda on the short side, but have a big-ish chest.

Even a shove in the right direction would be appreciated.

I'll probably be getting a hydration pouch for the rifle setup to clear up more front room.
>>
>>34437689

Depends. I've encountered Medeco locks in wooden doors with large panes of glass and I've encountered heavy steel gates secured with a Master lock No.3. In the former case there's absolutely no reason to bother with picking if your only goal is to get to the other side of the door quickly, In the latter case unless you have bolt cutters or breaching shells it's probably going to be easier to pick the lock.
Of course, outside of SHTF most people don't want to bash a door down just because they got locked out without their keys.

Definitely get a hydration pouch so you can move that bottle pouch, having it on the front seems like it would be really uncomfortable and just get in the way. With that said you also have the kangaroo pouch that you can use for rifle mags on the front.

Tacos are good mag pouches, they've been around forever and are popular for a reason. That said there are other open top no bungee mag pouches, garand thumb did a comparison of some if you're into that. https://youtu.be/FdB-a0pcXac

For your pistol setup yeah definitely put them on your belt with your pistol, mags on weak side is most common.
>>
>>34437805

>>34437602
It feels like the standard size plate is just a titch too big and the medium/size smaller (at least based on my shitty carbdoard cutouts) is rather too small. I guess I'd rather have a little bit too much coverage at too little, right?

My major issue is that there feels like there's a significant "gap" at the base of the carrier, and no matter how tight I make the shoulders it always seems to lay kinda low on me. Maybe I'm putting it on/fitting it incorrectly?

>>34437652
I basically want something that's easy on/off, can carry 4 pmags, and maybe a chest holster and an IFAK. I live in the Chicago area and things have been getting dicier and dicier as of late; and having a bit of extra peace of mind, in the car and at home, that I can chuck on, will likely help (and looking tacticool is a plus, of course).

I already plan on getting some kevlar, this is more of a "oh shit here are the riots" type of thing.

From what I've experienced, minutes to seconds depending on how hard the lock is and pure luck. I've picked a lock with about a minute of fiddling, but it only had five pins, but have cursed for a few minutes at a similar lock that had a slightly more difficult pin configuration (first two pins down the barrel were very low and kept wanting to be jostled).

Stress will fuck you up, too.

have you thought about running a slick plate carrier and a chest rig? the haley chest rigs hold 4 mags, medical, and they have holsters for them to hold a pistol like a glock 19.

if you have a slick carrier you can just clip it right in and have that be ready to roll and you also have a chest rig if you dont want to wear armor.
>>
>>34437856

Varies wildly, every lock is a bit different but the most common locks in the US, Kwikset, Master lock, Schlage and their Chinese knocks-off can typically be raked, bumped or bypassed in less than a minute. Sometimes you'll get one that for whatever reason will resist one method of attack, but fall easily to another and sometimes you'll get one that won't open for anything because fuck you. But most of the time it just takes experience, a plan of attack and an assortment of tools and you can get into most places within a few minutes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2r07NN21vM

One time at work I spent several hours trying to rake, pick and bypass an American Lock 3260 with a Best Icore on an old Verizon truck and finally had to swallow my pride and drill the sonofabitch. Which took all of 10 seconds.

My PC holds 6 rifle and 3 pistol, I have a Spectre chest rig that holds 6 rifle and while it could take more mag pouches I don't normally have any on it. A RACK that holds 8 rifle and 3 pistol. Then there's 2 pistol on the woodland belt or 4 on the black duty belt.

ATS war belt. OPT tactical has them for $43, but you just missed their 15% off sale.

I've had it for about a year, and have come to like it. I've decided to eventually upgrade it to the HSGI Sure Grip though.

>>34441021
The two different types of Malice clips are the normal ones, and the Fight Light ones in the picture you posted. I imagine if they come with Malice clips they will come with the non Fight Light ones.

Made an LAPG order, and an SKD order.

New chest rig setup coming, as well as a sling, and a combat shirt.
Bummed about missing the Armour Wear sale but I'm sure my wallet will thank me later this month.

I'll be honest I've never used it from the pouch.
What I can say is that the MSW/Tactical Tailor Baofeng pouch that I'm using for it has been pretty disappointing though. While the radio doesn't fall out entirely, the pouch itself is a clamshell design and outer half of the shell that actually houses the radio has slipped sideways on multiple occasions while running or drilling. I put it back into place then retighten it before the radio actually falls out, but the bottom line is that it needs some velcro or something. Maybe an extended power knob will keep it from moving around.

I'm not too worried about the radio being back there because chances are if I am ever using it, I won't be needed to change the channels in a hurry. Where it is I can twist sideways and see the display however if need be.

SKD 20% wasn't bad.
If I had made Armour Wear's sale I would have gotten some plates, but nah, they gotta end their sale on the 3rd.

>>34441356
I think so. Easier to get in, more flexible, lighter.

>>34441377
No problems except for a small hole from when someone thought it was a good idea to use firecrackers to simulate battlefield distractions during drills.
Ordered an HSGI AO chest rig to eventually go on top of a carrier.

>>34441380
I regret buying the pouch as well, but you just now motivated me to dig my Baofeng out of the closet and try to find a fix. The Baofeng power knob is a simple push/pull on/off D-Shaft electronics knob. Shaft diameter appears to be 4mm, but I don't have my calipers at home, they're at work.

I imagine for a dollar or two you could get an extended taller knob from Mouser or Digikey that would help to trap the MSW/Tactical Tailor retention cord in between the antenna and the taller power knob, fixing the side to side movement issue.

Or sew some velcro on there. It is also bizarre how overbuilt and thick the "body side" of the clamshell is. Weird pouch.

Retention is very good. I've only handled A2s a few times but it sure does lock on well. Even when the clip isn't actually clipped it has a bit of passive retention, buying your extra seconds before it straight falls out. Very good value in that it isn't expensive and it will continue to work with your Glock as your change out lights, barrels, sights, optics, and whatnot.

The only real downside is that the draw isn't as fast as a strapless kydex, but it is also 1/4 the cost, has better retention, and is more "modular" in a sense.

>If you have enough money to set up a kit like that, you should try using something other than a shotgun simply because shotguns aren't really something you should be planning to use as your primary. Grab a panel you can throw on top of a molle mag pouch or throw shells through some MOLLE loops for sure, but don't make it your main.
>
>On top of that, don't keep your nalgene bottle on the front. Try putting it on your cummerbund and putting the TQ and shears up front for better clearance. And water bladders are always a necessity. You're going to suck in a ton of water actually doing anything while wearing a plate carrier. 2-3L with the nalgene bottle as a secondary source of hyrdration or for MRE drinks/packets/etc.

Have an opinion on this? Flecktarn is perfect for where I live, so an armor carrier/vest in it would be ideal. And it being quick release is good, because I live near deep water. https://www.hqg.de/hqg/en/shop/Tactical-Gear/Categories/Armor-Carriers/P6-Vests/P6+Universal+Vest+HL+5-farb+Flecktarn/?card=13747

Not him, but literally any. The more premium ones are only useful if you're doing hardcore work with them and expect them to get abused. You can easily get mil surplus camelbak and bladder for ~$30 and it'll have shoulder straps to wear over your gear or without gear, as well as molle attachments If you want to direct attach it to your kit.

Its what I've used and its lasted deployments and all sorts of training.

I'd like to carry 2L/70oz personally, anyone have any experience with the 70oz Tyr bladder pouch on a Mayflower APC or similar carrier? The specs say height is 14" so I'm concerned it will hang over the plate bag slightly.

Other options are PIG 2L, Emdom Vehicle Hydration, and First Spear. I'm leaning towards the First Spear because price is comparable to the PIG and the Emdom is way more. I'd like to know how the Tyr fits though because it is the least expensive and IMO it looks the best.

There is also the Tactical Tailor Joey, but while I've got a decent amount of TT stuff with more on the way, they're not the most primo gear manufacturer. The stuff is good to go though.

Can I pick your guys' brains on something else? I'm wondering how one might make the Enola Gaye EG18X smoke grenades a little more durable and weather proof. Maybe an epoxy dip coating? Can anyone recommend anything?

Also level IV multi curve ceramics at 7lbs per plate, or level III+, M193, M855, M80, and mild steel core 7.62x39 rated multi curve ceramic/dyneema hybrid at 4lbs per plate?

Also what other carriers are out there like the Velocity Systems LWPC?

Front swift clips, side molle, and front velcro are a must. Bonus for rear molle, lightweight, and drag handle.

Also SKD tactical extended their sale for another day. Get the 20% while you can, even though they're bootlickers.

National Guard deploys more than the regular Army.
NG Infantry Divisions get cool guy shit the same time as RA Infantry units.

1. Wearing that flc a bit too tight big boy
2a. UCP blows and other camo flcs are cheap
2b. I have OD pouches on a woodland flc and it looks good
3. odd clip location, and upside down
>>
>>34456905
Yeah i know its high you genius, my 5'6 father gave it to me. 2a again it was free , 2b I dont think it would clash too hard if all the pouches were the same color and design. As for the clip hes a Civil Affairs O-3 and I stopped asking 'why is this' style questions years ago. I want to keep it simple and have all my ammunition on the front in those 3 across 2 deep mag pouches whos name escapes me at the moment. They usually have velcro flaps or bungee cords
