Why do faxon barrels have such weird profiles? Is this going to affect the performance? Like why is there extra material towards the front?

The extra material also makes it so the flash hider doesn't look like ass and retains some structural integrity

I like my Ballistic Advantage SOCOM barrel a lot. Good lugs, of decent quality. Haven't had a chance to run rounds through it but I think it'll be good.
