that'd be a good buy. trying to figure out what laser box to get next and I keep coming back to another atpial. apparently the vodka boxes have a tendency to break.

Is a dbal only reliable used on a free float? I've seen pics of them on 2 peice drop in quad rails but I read that any wobble in the rail compromises their function.

Problem with the ATPIAL is the lack of a adjustable illuminator. Otherwise it'd be awesome. Experience seems to support that the ATPIAL is more sturdy than the DBAL though.

2008 F-150 with a 5.4L mod motor with 130K miles on it. The icing on the cake was the week prior I redid all the front brakes except 1 caliper.

Apparently, and I gathered this from the salvage yards I called looking for a motor, these Ford mod motors are notorious for the cam phasers going out and fucking up all the timing, damn thing sounds like its got a high lift cam now but runs like ass. Well not only did mine fuck up the timing but it also spun the main bearings. Looking at $2500.00 for a new motor and at least a grand maybe two for the install. Fuck it, got pic related instead.

Going to get the old truck this weekend and taking it to Carmax...........or the scrap yard. Kinda sad too, I bought that truck from the AAFES on North Victory in '08.

Output is only half the picture. Working under NV it's absolutely essential to have an adjustable illuminator for the varying distances that you'll encounter targets. The atpial is great, at certain distances. It really performs quite poorly at cqb and a host of other distances. It's sweet spot is the 50-75 yard range. Another thing to point out is that the MAWL has a much cleaner illumination than the atpial which helps with target id etc etc etc.

I say this as a man who has used the PEQ-15 for a long long time. And the atpial for perhaps a month or two.

I use both, make no mistake about it. I like the SOPMOD and BCM stocks. The reason I end up using the BCM stocks is that they have a tendency to stay put during crazy shit. (really strong lockup and latch) The latch on the LMT / B5 stocks can be bumped too easily. I rectify it with a ranger band like most - but it's a bandaid on a somewhat critical flaw of that particular stock. That being said, my MK18 Mod 3ish build is rocking a sopmod.

Basically sometimes it will get oil blowby that will build up on the topside of your valvetrain. Using high quality synthetic helps prevent it. But it would be entirely avoidable if it also had port injection to periodically spray gasoline on the valves to prevent the buildup. Could also get a catch can/pcv system, but they are a total meme.

The blowby occurs at WOT so if you drive like someone who pays their own insurance you should be fine.

There are also increasingly heavier buffers you will see called H or H1 (same thing) H2 and H3.

A lot of folks will lose control of the hammer when trying to wrangle it into position against spring tension and jam the pin in, and when it slips, the hammer hook will harshly smack something (usually the trigger sear) and, well, you get burrs.
