i have two baofeng uv5rs and they have held up to a couple years of /k/ meets and camping. I regularly get between 2.5 and 4 miles of clear signal and i smashed one in my tail gate and it still works. the only issue i have had is with the batteries and chargers not working with eachother.

I'm about to just give up on my dream of having a optic equipped and suppressed pistol holster that works with the safariland midride and QLS.

Does anyone know if the Safariland 6354DO works with an extended barrel on a Glock 19? Or do I need to get a version meant for a Glock 17?

Also, is there any way to buy it without getting that huge, useless drop leg rig? All I need is the holster.

Any custom shop should be able to do this, if you dont have one locally let me know and ill give you the name of some
>>
>>34373358

The suppressor and light are pretty difficult to accommodate in a reasonable package.

They exist, but they all look or function like abortions. This is the best one I've seen, but it's far too bulky, the huge kydex heat shield against the leg looks uncomfortable:

http://www.kt-mech.com/i_custom-s_akela.html

I think I'll just be better off without the suppressor. I bought a Crye Gun Clip for use with my plate carrier, but it won't work with the Safariland QLS.
>>
>>34373409
literally not that hard. Just get someone to make you a vanguard style holster with a OWB safariland mounting pattern.

No, it does not come with the thigh shroud. The stock photos are misleading.

this antenna is excellent and I made one for about 10 bucks. I am able to pick up police from over 50 miles away over mountainous terrain. it is the equivalent of boosting your baofeng about 30-40 watts and I never go into the backcountry without one rolled up in my pack. Also, you can buy one on ebay directly from the inventor for like 35 bucks.

My suppressed .22lr pistol is a close to antique, made in the mid-1950's I think. But it works, nicely tuned up so it feeds 100% reliably with CCI SV, suppressed with 7 K baffles turned from 7075 and just over beer can opening quiet. The slide lock is easy to toggle with my thumb. Don't use the IWB kydex and leather holster in nice weather, just in winter when jackets are inevitable. In summer I shoulder bag carry. Anyway, here's my home made holster in two parts.

I'm nohandguns, so bear with me.

Would carrying a suppressed pistol be practical? Or possible, without it catching on everything and hindering you while running?

Also, don't you have to pull it upwards out of the holster? Seems like the extra length would be a hassle. Again, coming from someone who only owns air rifles and a rusty, illegal mossberg, no experience in pistols
>>
>>34377621

I ended up picking it up for $20USD unissued. I will drop the side mag pouches and use it as my dog handling rig and add ammunition to use as my practical rifle rig.

The old French pistol above is slim and draws smoothly, not really any difficulty. Mostly an airgunfag myself, but I like my little spy pistol, and a couple of other .22lr things I've built are fun. Like this guy, loosely based on the custom rifle from The Day of the Jackal film.

airframe is nice but the increased size of the front shell will offset the weight savings when you actually wear it

Unless you are in a helmet 10+ hours a day and desperately need the minor ventilation then just stick with opscore

What exactly is wrong with fingerless gloves? I get that they're kind of prevalent in anime and that they're popular with spergs, Hot Topic scene girls, and 90s mallninjas, but what is wrong with them specifically? The Slavs seem to like them. It seems every Russian and Ukrainian glove on the market comes in a fingerless version. There's also this picture of a British guy in Azov who's wearing Memechanix with the fingertips cut off. There's got to be a benefit to some degree. Is it just that they've fallen out of fashion with Western tacticools, or is it that they were always mallninja shit and Slavs are just mallninjas?

Cons:

>fingers are now exposed

Intentionally cutting them off is pretty dumb imo
>>
>>34384457
I like to cut off the trigger finger like that, too. I do have a thing for leather fingerless gloves, too, like LRRP teams wore in Vietnam. I'm pretty sure theirs were just artillerymen's gloves with the fingertips cut off, though.
>>
>>34384479
Those cons don't mean much to me. I live in a hot area and I don't have to worry about fingerprints since I'm not a criminal and people have been convicted based on glove prints. The only downside is that on really hot days my fingers are exposed to hot metal when I shoot.

Technically no. Even if you get the variable power version and restrict yourself to the 1/2 watt or whatever, it still isn't FCC approved for operating on the "walkie talkie" FRS and MURS frequencies. The bottom line though is that the best usage of a Baofeng probably is exactly that, a high power walkie talkie.

no. that little loop? its for rappepling. a 1.5 inch belt will not be wide enough for a grown ass man. so no one makes a real riggers belt for rigging in 1.5 inch as for molle webbing literally not wide enough, do basic math

Single strap packs and bandoleers have been tacticool fashion for quite a while now. No, I have no idea why.

Literally the only time a single strap bandoleer is acceptable is if you're a GI in Vietnam trying to pack extra mags with your shitty can issued bandoleer.
>>
>>34389238
I know it's for rappelling/abseiling/whatever. Since I'm literally never going to be doing that with a tacticool belt, I don't need that. I like a cloth loop like that for clipping a dog leash to when I'm out in the boonies. I also don't need MOLLE webbing on my belt since I have a sleeve. I was just hoping there was a 1.5" rigger's belt out there being marketed to small women or (more likely) tiny Vietnamese men, considering that even gucci brands like Crye make belts for people with 29" waists.
>>
>>34389286
I get the point of a single strap sling bag like that if it's a little super lightweight thing you wear just to carry your water bottle and granola bars when you're sightseeing or whatever. I don't get why they're marketing larger ones as if they won't fuck up your shoulders and be uncomfortable if you try to hike with them like 5.11 shows in their advertising pictures.

meh, I usually wear mechanix until the fingertips eventually wear, then just cut them off. It can be nice, but if you find a glove pair that fits snug, I find very little reason to go fingerless.

Bretty gu, no dealbreakers.

Things I would personally change though:
>Move the CCO up as far forward as possible on the receiver, IAW advice from FM3.22-9 to make it even faster to acquire. Also allows for use of helmet mounted PVS-14 with the CCO.
>Needs IR aiming device
>Surefire light is a very large model and quite bulky, smaller options exist
>That A2 pistol grip is no bueno. At least wrap the nub in grip tape
>Replace the USGI helmet straps with aftermarket straps for a more solid fit, especially with NODs on
>Camo paint the helmet and then reapply the camo netting.
>Paint that awful anodized gold NOD plate to subdue it
>Add a headlamp fixed to the helmet for utility use
>Replace the canteen with NODs, possibly use that same canteen pouch with a semi rigid plastic insert as the NOD pouch. Move the pouch back along the cummerbund.
>Use space opened on the cumberbund to add velcro topped mag pouches and shift rifle magazines off the front of the vest so that they are only single across the front and not doubled up.
>Secure sheers with a retention lanyard (unclear from photo if this is already done)
>Apply more clear markings to the IFAK
>Make sure that extra batteries, rite'n'rain notepad, pen, electrical tape are being carried
>A small digital camera is advantageous
>"Blood type" patch is meh.

Not that guy, but I have one of every variation of RBA. (Ranger body armor)

They're rated for flak nearly everywhere there is coverage. They have very SPEAR BALCS-esque soft armor inserts, and just front and back inserts for plates. The earliest ones had square plates front and back, then they began to shape the right corner to be able to "shoulder" rifles, and then when SAPI cut plates became more avaliable, they'd be squeezed in. The right side slant is steep, somewhere between SAPI and a swimmer cut plate.

Solid stuff, will go to hell and back. The elastic cumberbunds wear out/degrade though. My favorite A E S T H E T I C has to be 3 color desert with black Velcro and no admin pouch though, it's so pure 90's.

The earliest of the early "RBA" was used by USMC in Nam, and it was essentially a aircrew "chicken plate" vest that had slightly smaller panels for better range of movement and less weight, and was made out of a heavy duty ERDL fabric eater than that off color OD.

>/musty shit general/ here, I have a closet full of nam stuff that I collected before I moved to /gq/

Crye for the best balance of performance and availability relative to cost for pants, Patagonia combat shirts if you prefer a smaller collar than crye, and 5.11 if you're a mall ninja fudd. I don't have any personal experience with Beyond brand clothing, but it's also good stuff.

Plenty of good brands out there, but try to avoid airsoft brand stuff. If you're not sure if a brand is airsoft, Google the name, and you'll be able to tell pretty easily.

Normal, everyday BDU stuff is the GOAT work-horse. It's plenty durable, and hella cheap. If you like multicam, some of the most recent MASSIF combat stuff is very solid, and is nicer than the basic multicam combats. The new generation pants can take the Crye airflex knee pads, and are very similar overall to the G3 cut. You can always go with a normal cut pant and wear knee pads on top if you want.

One of my old favorites is pre-msa paraclete stuff. My go to top is a 3 color desert SOF BDU made into a short sleeve top from the manufacturer, and a good pair of surplus BDU trousers with some
arc'teryx knee caps painted tan to match. Very durable. Pants wear out the fastest for me, so I prefer a cheap pair and rock solid knee pads over buying new pairs of cryes.

The arc'teryx knee caps are great, but I think either beyond or LBT make external knee pads too, but I can't comment on the quality of those.
>>
>>34395873
I've owned all of the above and my preference runs towards Crye and Patagonia for pants, and Crye shirts. The Beyond pants are very well made and have comparable features to Crye, but the implementation isn't quite as well designed.

Paraclete SOF BDUs are nice and extremely underrated, you can get them in the memecamos for very good prices now.

It's so much better than what I had before. There's place for 8 magazines, several grenades, first aid, a radio, and that's just the front. There's a large backpack on the, well, back.
Only thing is that the pockets on either side of it might be uncomfortable because of how they're attached on the inside of it.
It's also a plate carrier by the way.
Pictures of it being worn by someone would show it in a much better light than this image, but I don't want to post faces of people I know here.
>>
>>34403942
Huh. I'm not sure it's for me (I prefer low profile, preferably just a battle belt with some slick pouches), but if you like it that's great. What did you have before?
>I don't want to post faces of people I know here
Just put it on your waifu pillow. Or, you know... crop their face out of the image.
>>
>>34403959
Can't be fucked cropping I'm in my phone.
I had some trash tier 1000th hand no name vest. Didn't even close properly.
Such are the realities of training in the IDF.
I guess it's done on purpose to make life a little bit harder.
Regarding the low profile, I'd love to try something like that, but I need all this storage space.
>>
>>34403991
It's literally a click away from your photo gallery. Then you double finger the screen until the face is out of the way. It's not hard. Having that capacity makes sense if you're legit IDF, though. Keep fighting the good fight in defense of modern civilization, Israeli bro. Most of us here in America support you guys.

Where does /gq/ buy its ceramic plates? I fell for the steel meme a while back and am regretting it and want to upgrade
>>
>>34384385
late response I know but I feel like I need to speak up.

I own one, but don't have the back piece yet because I don't have more than one high quality plate. I really like it, considering that it is all Cordura and triple stitched where it needs to be.

It's extremely durable, has a 3d mesh material inside to help keep you cool, and it fits a 1l nalgene and cup in one side, all my medical shit in the other.

New goodies

Talk about simple. Literally just two plate bags with some molle, 2 clips, some velcro, and a few grommets for water to drain.

Plates are pretty old, but pretty lightweight for what they are, (lvl IV standalone, 6.5lbs a plate) but I really don't want to buy new plates at like $800 a plate for something comparable.

Ceramics don't expire, right? They aren't cracked at all.

Salty vintage. Been to Iraq and back.

I got it from a guy who told me his brother bought it and plates back in 2005 before deploying with the Marines. I didn't realize private purchase stuff was used by grunts. Seems like something that was "high speed" back then.

A new one on my personal sweaty gross dusty used one?
>>
>>34408121
I knew what the model was, I forget what it is now. It's a LBT 15xx something iirc. They made them in a MJK tan color, this OD (only one I've seen), and I spotted one that was made pretty recently that was a multicam slick version w/ no molle.

It was bought new in 2005 by the guy who I bought it from's brother, so I assume it was made some time around then.

I was wrong, LBT 6037A "Molle plate carrier"

Mine is missing the tags, but the the plates that were bought at the same time are from 2005. Pics of other carriers are dated anywhere from 2007 to 2010 by the looks of it.

(Nvm, I've now seen more than one OD one)
>>

Not interested in waiting for the FFV release because I have honestly no intention of buying the pants or paying 150$ for a repro shirt, wondering if there's anything out there.
>>
>>34409843
No, I mean THAT cadpat. It just doesn't fit with the tan of the rest of the carrier imo. It matches with that smoke/ranger (?) green kit.

how durable are vortex red dots specifically the venom? I want a small red dot for an 870 and dont want to buy an rmr if I dont have to. I drop my shotgun/throw it off buildings etc pretty often so im worried about how it will hold up.

I was going to ask: If Lancer mags are so great, why do I never see them in posted kitpics?

But you kind of killed the question. How do you like them over standard GI mags? Do you feel like there's any appreciable difference using the Lancers over GI or others?
>>
>>34410995
Lancers are my favourite mags, the GI mags are nice but only once you invest in anti tilt followers, but I only have about 5 of them because people include them in rifle sales

it's a MBAV. Got some old SAPIs in there, gonna switch them out for something nicer once I get the cash together. No soft armor or side plates yet but that will come.
