How did i do on my first build? I just ordered these parts last night. Goal was to keep it under 1k.

Stock, grip, end plate, and sights are magpul

Total cost 930 after shipping.

I definitely could have gone cheaper on most of the lower parts, and my original build came out to 630$, but I had a 1k budget and said fuck it.

The upper was an issue for me, i couldnt build one cheaper than what PSA was offering, 250$, so i decided to just get a complete one. PSA ive heard are good to go, so eventually down the line i figured I would switch out the handguard or barrel.

I already have an aimpoint t2 on a DD mount my buddy gave me, so luckily I didnt have to factor in optics into my budget. Im kind of looking forward to seeing how this whole cowitness thing works out. If it doesnt, then whatever, the buis came included with the upper.

That's not going to work. 10" won't give you enough to stabilize the bullet beyond 50-100m, unless you make some crazy boutique handloads, and that's really pushing it. 11.5" minimum if you want any sort of reach.

Very weak bolts and lock up, need to be very cautious with full power loads, poor wood quality, locks of cracks, metal lacks any finish, often has lots of pitting, and shot out bores. That said it is $200. If you want a cheap, milsurp in .308, get an Ishapore Enfield. People laugh them off for being Indian but if you know what to look for them they're actually fantastic rifles for aroun $350

25m zero is the military standard, so it is naturally the default for the platform.

It's a good zero for "minute of man" inside of 350 yards, which is mostly where M16 and M4 were designed to be used. It is about 8 inches high at its highest point inside that range. But if you're shooting a man sized target he's probably bigger than 8 inches.

Finally transfered my DL to the new state I'm living in (KS if anyone want's to know).
