From what I've seen, they're not, but I got sufficiently burned by the poor quality of a "mid-tier" brand (Inforce) and one then-"high-tier" brand (EOTech) and since then I've just ponied up for top-shelf stuff out of personal preference (Surefire, Trijicon, Aimpoint, etc.). About the cheapest I think I'd go at this point is Vortex, but that's just me.

Also, I'm of the opinion that if you drop $1500+ on a gun, you should buy it a nice quality optic to go with it. It annoys me how many CZ Evo owners will shill for $40 Amazon red dots after dropping $1200+ on tricked-out two-stamp SBRs. Again, personal preference.

I can't tell you how many times I've almost bought a Vector HK91 clone but didn't because there's no support for them as they're not a business anymore. If PTR started making them they'd be quality and they'd have support, maybe they'd even start making mags too which would alleviate the problem of expensive mags for them too

On the left side of the magwell If it says PTR-91 i think its the gen 1.5. But if it came with the black furniture i think it is a 2 because IIRC the 1.5 came with the green furniture. I love mine. I got the gen 1 primary arms 1-6 scope on it and I have no issue hitting a 5" hostage flipper at 300 meters with golden tiger ammo.

So in fucking around I discovered combining an ALG hammer with a G2 trigger allows the rifle to fire even on safe.

I discovered by fucking around that my Maadi has a full auto safety and the semi auto component of the commercial Egyptian FCG is the sear, and after putting in a surplus Egyptian FCG in the gun the surplus sear still gets held by the safety and fails to engage the hammer and so the hammer rides the bolt home after cycling and presumably after shooting as well

Currently got a surplus hammer and trigger in it while keeping the commercial sear. It was disappointing because the surplus FCG had a considerably nicer trigger pull than the commercial FCG, and even though I've replaced the hammer and trigger the commercial sear makes it less smooth than it was with the surplus sear. I could always modify my safety but I don't want to alter it as its original Egyptian

I'm a 762 guy so long as I'm using my golden tiger.
I take them 556/545/762 to 400 yards. At that range, I don't really care which one I'm using.
None of them are giving me much trouble, but it's obvious that the 762 clanks my steel harder. It's FAR more likely to spin them around, and it just sounds better.
But when I go up to the plate, you wouldn't hardly know which one had hit, the dents are roughly the same.

Golden tiger is the only stuff I'll touch any more. Yaws crazy fast with it's long boat tailed bullet with large hollow cavity up front, and it's been very noticeably more accurate for me vs bear at least. Bear left a bad taste in my mouth and I've never tried anything else since. I've also seen tests with it vs wolf through a chrono, gt was going advertised speeds ~2350 while wolf was barely breaking 2000fps. I can't say whether that applies to all wolf, but that was all I needed to see.

Unless I was shooting 500rds+ per shooting session and corrosive m67 saves a significantly amount, no way in hell I'm using corrosive ammo.
I guess if it's a wasr or something else that feels extremely replaceable, maybe. Because honestly, just spraying a ton of remoil inside the gas system and boresnaking is enough to hold off the corrosion between sessions. And I'm not going to cry if I still get easy decades out of a gun , even if I do slowly destroy it in laziness.

Boiling is really unnecessary, also the hot water is more likely to make the steel rust on the spot than room temp water. Also sounds kind of dangerous. When I shot a lot of corrosive I just used room temp water and never had any problems.

I've not had any duds shooting my GT yet through my AK or SKS, but my uncle's 7.62 AR hated the stuff. Yet it worked fine with brown bear. That pretty much proved to me that GT has harder primers without a doubt. Obviously at least one batch of GT had primers that were too hard even for AKs, hence why everybody was complaining about duds.

Like I said, no duds yet, but they definitely have harder primers.
