In my hardcase because I'm messing with foregrips.

Probably going to see if I can take the beyrl foregrip I rigged on to this to the 107 for funsies.

Of course, if it impedes magazine rocking I'm going to probably use 20 rounders or something.

That leaves me with foreign

If include my Arsenal FCG. That leaves me with six foreign parts. So, in theory, I could also send in the HGs, PG, and stock and only have 9 foreign parts and be good, correct?

922r calculating makes sense when going over other people's stuff but once it's finally my stuff I overthink it and make it overcomplicated

So I'm looking to get a 5.45 AK. I've read the pastebin and came to the conclusion of either an SGL31 or a Vepr FM. Pic related is basically the gun I want but with an optic of some kind. My question is, is there any real difference between the two guns? Aside from the extra price of the Vepr since it has the folding stock, I can't see a difference.

VEPR is an RPK; has a thicker barrel and thicker front trunnion, and thus weighs more. SGL is gonna cost you a shitload of money because they aren't manufactured anymore.

Sorry I got back to you so late Chimps, I was doing shit all day.

>Did they say that exactly?
They said "we can get limited runs of firearms in various configurations based on what our customers would like to see"

To me that translates to special import runs with enough interest.

>I think it's an issue of importation.
While that may be the case, we already know they can get 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 rifles in with RPK length barrels. They may not be able to get them in an RPK exact clone, but all they'd have to do is request that the rifles be sent in a neutered configuration. I'd assume welded stock, all the 922r bullshit, and if the bipod would make it a 'non-sporter' then get them imported without the bipod or front sight post installed so they can be added once they're here.

If they got .223 RPKs in somehow, I'm sure 5.45 and 7.62 would be possible as well especially with the climate of the current ATF. And at the very least, they should be able to get .233 RPKs in again, which would still be pretty sweet.

Ammo purchases don't excite me anymore. Receive, place in ammo cans, stack cans on shelf, forget. I actually recently re-discovered about 500 rounds of 124gr 9mm that I thought I had shot already.
>>
>>34268925
Based off the 1Vs, it seems entirely possible that 5.45 and 7.62 versions could be imported, but it also seems like 5.45 and 7.62 versions could have been imported alongside the original 1Vs.

It could be that the ATF isn't playing nice, since all of the import designs have to be approved by the ATF, and they could arbitrarily refuse anything that looks scary, even if it should legally be appropriate, and FIME's only option would be to file a suit, which is way more than they want to get involved in.

Or maybe Russia won't let Molot make them in 5.45? The civilians there can't own it.

It seems to me that the path of least resistance to making scads of money is importing exactly what the people want and selling it by the crate. So why aren't they doing exactly that? Even if you hate FIME, their primary goal is still to make money. So what's stopping them? The most obvious to me is some sort of red tape bullshit.

>>
>>34269538
>>34269539
The majority of 10/63s I've seen/fired had excessive wear on top of the bolt carrier/piston. I've always though they were junk but seeing how people praise them on here now I assumed the 10 was a better model
>>
>>34269586
Wear on the piston and the BCG stem isn't a big deal.

10/63s are rougher around the edges than 10s, but they're made from all surplus military parts. 10s are made from all new production parts and seem to be more prone to actual functional problems. I've heard and seen multiple cases of that. 10/63s are more likely to have mag wobble and canted sights, but I don't think I ever heard about them just flat not working.

Both guns will treat you right, but I don't see it as a tie at all. Not even close IMO. 54r's big advantage was cheap spam can ammo to make up for some of it's other shortcomings, and that's gone for the foreseeable future.
vepr 308
>great ammo selection from cheap steelcase fmj to hunting rounds etc
>significantly cheaper for plinker tier ammo like tulammo(tulammo 54r might drop in price later, so far it's a fair amount more per shot)
>every store selling ammo has loads of 308 and always will
>reliable double stack mags 20+rds that aren't a mile long because they're double stack
vepr 54r
>single stack mags, so really long mags if you get to 10+rds
>not a lot of ammo brands etc to choose from, mostly steel case bimetal jacketed bullets
>most stores don't stock much of it, and the ones near me seem to only stock whatever fmj they got for the least $$$, with a big markup
>cheap surplus ammo is a thing of the past(hope I'm wrong but I don't think it's coming back)
>>34267894
The vepr is too heavy IMO for anything intermediate. I'd much rather have an slr with ak-74 style brake etc. They're beautiful guns, and I have the 308 version of what you've got pictured. But I just don't see me wanting all that weight to shoot some smaller caliber.

AR probably has $1k in it. Even assuming I could get $1k from that AR (I couldn't), $1500 for an SGL 21 is decent is it not?

Most of the parts on that AR are Aero precision, Strike Industries, and the lower is a Mag Tactical. Barrel is just something from Classic Firearms. It's nothing special to me and I do want a 7.62 AK since I already have the Saiga 74.

>>34276323
Yeah man I got no clue, but I'm probably gonna do it. He has 440 rounds through the SGL he says, which isn't bad at all. I still have BFPU AKM furniture so I'll be throwing that on here.

>>
>>34276394
Gotcha. Well taking the depreciation from a built AR vs a prebuilt, I'm assuming I could maybe get $800 for it if I'm lucky. Like I said, $1k is what is in the AR brand new. So lets just say value wise it would be $1.3k with trade + cash.
>>
Hey /k/, I've been away from guns and this board for quite a while, used to have a Century 74 but sold it. What are the new cheap funs in the 500 ish range? Have prices gone down or up? Thanks in advance.

>>34276296
AR parts are so cheap that it's REALLY hard to sell garage builds these days unless you're parting out top-tier components. I sold a Lilja that I bought to be part of a recce build that was sitting in pieces at a profit a while back. With the regular 4150 barrels I have to beg people to take them off my hands.

Also, happy Friday Chimps. I hope something made you smile today.

I'm probably going to break down and do that. I would have liked to have gotten a new production polymer one because it would have been cheaper than the surplus aluminum ones and less hassle. I'm probably going to have to unbend the feed lips and replace the springs on any surplus ones I get because hey, they're surplus. They're only being sold because they're beat to shit and the Czechs got something better to replace it. Chances are they were kept in less than optimal condition and used to open one too many bottles. I'm already having trouble with the one magazine that came with the gun and these are the "refurbished" ones that came from Century Arms.

I can't tell if these magazines are coated in something or not. They feel like it but I can't tell for sure. They've definitely been sandblasted or sanded or something, there are small pieces of the metal reinforcements visible due to polymer being removed. Textured vs matte plum. Textured on left. I almost got one of them that wasn't fully textured and had plum showing but eh, I went fully coated.

I love mine, just wish regular steel mags worked well, but im fine with bakelites and pmags. Also FYI I would keep an eye on your bake lites because my PTR32 bolt was rubbing against the top the feed lips. Also how do you like your wire stock? I got a AK SBR I was thinking of putting a wire folding stock and getting a romanian dong and just take off all the paint. Also I highly recommend the g3 wide hanguard and bipod for it. The slim handguards heat up just way too much.

Trash, get rid of it immediately unless you want your groupings to look like a shotgun pattern.

If you have a side scope mount on the left side of the receiver, use that and get yourself a "Venezuelan" PK-A red dot, or an RS Regulate mount and your choice of Western optic. Otherwise, consider an ultimak.

This is what I got back from him:
>Unfortunately there is very little info on these mags besides what I had provided in the listing, and I've asked around but this is the only the second shipment that has made it to the US. I was originally told it was just plum mags, but they are refurbing the true blacks as well and I've seen the spray texture color anywhere from a sand brown to a dull plum to black. From what I've been told, it was an effort to cycle in these mags to replace the ones that have been out being used. And the textured finish was added to enhance grip and cut down severely on the reflective-ness of the non-coated mags.
>>
>>34282575

Yeah it was kind of a gamble but for $52 I thought it was worth it. If it turns out to be fake then I'm not out too much money and in that case I might make some for myself just to have a full chest rig of grippy mags, but the seller is a legitimate guy (if a heeb at times) and I don't think he'd scam with these mags unless they were scammed to him and he took the bait and believed it. Who knows, if they're legit maybe they'll become rare in the future and at $52 that's worth it to me because either way it's unique and kinda cool

Can anyone tell me why almost nobody has the ultimak tri-rail handguard? I never see it here, and there are no reviews for it online, or on youtube. It's a little spendy, but not bad, solid enough to mount a peq on, and paired with a kac vfg, and vltor m4 buttstock, really has that mid 2000's private security contractor aesthetic.

With enhanced safety installed.

2nd deals are the way to go. Guy buys rifle and barely shoots it and realizes he could use the money. Sells barely shot rifle usually with accessories for 30%-50% off what it would cost new. Sell accessories and profit.

Unless you have that must buy new mentality and if so cheers to you.

I'm probably gonna put Tenryuu on my AR eventually. Once I get some of those Lancer L5 purple mags to go with my DHS contract purple ammo it'll be super cute.

Wouldn't do anything like that to my AKs though.
>>
>>34284770
You could also do something like one of those billet aluminum mag releases. Wouldn't be surprised if they sell them in anodized purple. Little accents here and there like queerbait did with his miku AR. Would be cool.
>>
>>34284872
I would but I have my AR in a good place now setup-wise. Most I'll do is put a vinyl label in kanji on the stock, pop the purple mag in, and hand a strap somewhere. Maybe take a photo with it in my Tenryuu cosplay for laffs. That way, I can always swap it back to a serious business gun with little trouble, but I'm not sure I would. AR guys take themselves too seriously these days as it is. I've got two stripped lowers I can make a complete meme AR from later though.
