I had my FFL email him the info this morning. I'd just go ahead and get the info sent to his email asap and then let him know via PM. Shoot first ask questions later deal. I knew because he told me several days ago that he still didn't have my FFL info which prompted me to send it. Pretty sure he has them ready to ship right away.

welp I just tried to get in touch with my usual FFL guy and it turns out he's on deployment and his business in on hiatus until he gets back so now I've got to go through a fudd as fuck local hardware store who hopefully will even accept an AK receiver, and if they do it's gonna be a $40 transfer instead of my usual $15

Starting to get pretty freaking nervous about this right now, I want my receiver and don't want this other FFL to screw me. If I need to I can go to another FFL but they're like 40 minutes away

Is that wireframe AK for sale somewhere? Would be a dope wall hanger
>>
>>34239302
Nice cop and great deal but the receiver is not from 1965, the front trunnion is from 65. Receiver is new production, the original receiver would have a third hole and would be considered a machine gun.

>>34239317
Mine is $25 for a transfer but I know and trust the people. It's over a half hour away. There is a closer one but I stopped patronizing them and started dragging their name through the mud when they tried to steal from me.

>>34239516
The only way an AK should have bad recoil is if it's overgassed as fuck.

What other intermediate or full caliber rifles have you shot? If you're inexperienced then you're probably just perceiving the noise and flash as recoil. Because as far as how much it pushes your shoulder, it's not much at all.

For that price find an SLR-107FR when they pop up and ammo.

You're just paying for an unknown receiver on a parts kit with an american black nitride barrel. Jim Fuller only touches the rifle when it's time to sight them in. I live in Las Vegas and have been there several times.

Square up behind it and hold it firmly against your shoulder. Don't tilt your head to the side to get behind the sights. Instead stick your head forward, or bring the gun closer to your center. Don't chicken wing. Don't lean backwards. Get in a good stance and be at least vertical if not slightly leaning forward.

Main thing is to keep the buttstock firmly pressed against your shoulder so it doesn't hammer you every time.

So a Jew, Jewing off his goods. Literally a sneaky merchant.
>On February 7, 2009, Offer was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida on a charge of felony battery after an altercation with a 26-year-old sex worker. Offer contended that he struck the prostitute when she "bit his tongue and would not let go." Prosecutors later declined to file formal charges against either person.

Yeah they swapped to a more matte and slightly textured material somewhere in the early 50s. My 17s are very slick and kinda shiny, and I have three 49s that are the normal old common true black material, and a 53 that is that more matte textured material and all my other true blacks later than mold 53 are the same material. I don't have a 50, 51, or 52 so I don't know what of them would be matte and textured

Well I went to the fudd gunshop and asked about it and apparently the guy behind the counter is a big AK guy and was more than happy to do it. It's weird, the store only stocks wood and steel and 1911s and wheel guns and stuff and the the owner is a hyper fudd, but this employee isn't at all. We talked AKs for a while and he wants me to bring in the completed rifle when I get it so he can see it. He says he has a couple preban Galils that he bought in the 80s that he loves and that his 74 is Romanian and kept talking about how much he loves 5.45

It was entirely unexpected and he was actually cool. Lesson learned, don't judge a gun shop based on the owner and the guns they stock, some cool employees might work there

*grabs you by the throat* shut up!?!?

Mine will be built first hopefully tho :^^^)) right when I get the receiver I'll be sending it right back to get it built. I still need to ask about Techno's paint and BR said he can supply Tapco US stuff for cheap for 922r, but I might try and buy some stuff cheaper on the files or see if I can borrow some US made stuff just for the build then send it back when I get the rifle back

>>34245143
I was just reading your email and the thread you sent me, if they're both original to the kits I'm starting to think that they must have just grabbed a grip from a pile and used that with the rifle. Maybe they had gone to matte at that point but where still using leftover shiny grips, I dunno. I haven't been paying attention to the grips of the 88 kits I've seen until right now when you emailed me and just in the past like 10 minutes there's two

>>34245168
No, just people thought that by 1988 matte was the norm but a lot of these 1988 kits had shiny grips
>>
>>34245191
My 87 kit is definitely gonna sport the shiny grip, but if I ever get an 88 kit to build into a folder like I want, I can use a matte grip to amplify the differences between the two years. Which are very few.

I'm sending mine off with furniture from my SGL and an Arsenal trigger group. I think I have some US parts I could loan you for a nominal cost. But I'll have to check.
>>
>>34245307
Yeah I plan on swapping grips on mine whenever I feel like it but mostly the matte will stay on my SLR and the shiny on the kit

I'm sending it in with an Arsenal two stage US FCG, but what pisses me off is I just sold my US brake and US furniture from my SLR like a month before buying the kit and I should have just kept it and used it. I have no issues buying tapco for it from BR but once I get the kit done I'm not gonna need or want it and it'll be a huge pain to sell because nobody else will want it. I guess I could hold onto it for future builds but I dunno

I just don't really enjoy shooting it. If I'm going to shoot a pistol I'd rather shoot a pistol that I actually find pleasant to shoot. I had the receiver go straight to Meridian to minimize delays and prevent me from paying to receive the receiver via FFL and then ship it right back out. Just one less thing to deal with is how I saw it.

Also, this was far enough back that I could've bought an SGL-31 for half the price I have invested in this build, but I wanted an Afghan-period AK, and the '83 kits available were my only shot at getting a truly period-accurate one.

Now I have to go buy some Paki clothes and I can volunteer to be a reenactor at the local military museum and talk to people about Operation Cyclone.

These 88 kits are cheap basic bitch Russian kits but I'm still going to be paying around $2k, which sucks because now I've got the itch but at $2k as a cheaper build I'm not sure I want to go all out on as many as I was wanting to. Maybe traditional barrel components cuz dimples are expensive, but I like dimples best. Everything I want to have built is expensive. Late 80s AK74s/AKS74s? Expensive. AK74M clone? Expensive. East German clones (really the only AKMs I'm interested in are DDR guns)? Expensive. I wish I was only interested in Bulgarian and Romanian and Polish stuff because it's cheap and I could have more but everything I like and want is expensive and I'm poor

Just buy an 88 kit while you can, they're only $650 + $15 shipping. In the grand scheme of things that's cheap especially once RGuns eventually runs out and they go up. You'd only then need a barrel and there'd be no rush on your end to get it built as you'd already have all you need for it

Yeah I know, I'm pretty scared they'll run out before I get one. >>
>>34248150
I mean you could sell it for some quick cash now but I'd sit on it for a bit as it's bound to only go up. Is there any other stuff you can sell to make a few bucks? Yeah but who knows, in 6 months it might be $4500. Kind of optimistic but right now the ones on gunbroker are primarily from resellers who bought them by the dozens. They're not even hard to find yet. Once they all fall into the hands of long term collectors and become hard to find the prices could get insane.

Hey, can you post that picture of the fucked up AR charging handle you would shitpost in /arg/ with? I need it for reasons.
>>
>>34249456
At the very least the one you have is of a fixed number of them on the market. There aren't going to ever be any more of them, at least it's extremely unlikely that there will be. Just based on how these things go I believe it'll only keep going up. If for whatever reason it does drop in price it will never go for lower than what you paid for it unless a KVar tier mystery crate full of them shows up, so there's that. If you sell now and get a $2000 profit that would obviously be great, but like you said once all the ones right now get in collectors' hands they should skyrocket in price. At the end of the day there will never ever be a shortage of collectors of US militaria here in the US and yours is a very unique piece of US militaria that will always be of interest to a sizable chunk of the collectors out there

Taking a rifle dynamics build class in November for an AK74 purely because I dont want to futz around with a subpar build, find out that I love it, then build a second AK. Proceed to tell me how I'm wasting my money.

-Sincerely, an AR fag
>>
>>34249556
You're over paying but go ahead I guess. The only thing that makes a subpar build are if you're a retard or you use shitty parts. Doing a class won't make up for a butter soft ESS barrel and Nodak receiver that lacks all it's markings and stamps.

Speaking of the Val, I know the mags it uses can be shared with the VSS, but is there a distinguishing difference between a Val mag and VSS mag or are they 100% interchangeable? Like an AK74 mag and RPK74 mag are capable of being used in both rifles but one is obviously for the AK74 and the other for the RPK74, is that how it is with Val and VSS mags or are they both identical mags?

2much. Shouldnt be paying more than 650 tax included. Newer ones are fine, but whole line is assblasted due to Bob Sled AKUO reviewing a terribad one and then the few other issues that have happened sprung up like wildfire due to elitists at akfiles. Literally no one else is having this much trouble but hey it's automatic shit no matter what batch or gen of the rifle amirite. The true ak buying idiots are the ones spending over 800 dollars, no matter if it's arsenal or a wasr.

this is all true when you realize folks now praise the polytech ak of long ago when in fact it was shit on back in its day and now you have knuckleheads holding it high on a pedestal, as well as recommending the wasr, also brought to you by..century arms. When it was still a piece of shit everylitists' eyes 8-10+ yrs ago when century was still shit on and then got their shit together to some extent by early 2010s, so this is another case of this riffraff talk, moreso because one popular go-to youtuber must've had the worst possible rifle sent to him to put through his somewhat unnecessarily tough tests. As if arsenals, molot and the like are god's gifts to aks because they never ship with canted sites or shit finishes that bubble off under heavy fire. The moment anyone has a retort to the cases of shit finish of arsenals only further proves my point.
