By the time she gets home at 3, I'm waking up and we have all afternoon together, at 10, I tuck her in and go to work.

Would it be better if we could sleep together every night, absolutely, but first shift makes me miserable and I get an extra 15% on third.

Are last round hold open mags a meme? I can't seem to see how it has purpose in the AK platform seeing as how once the mag is removed, the bolt slams home. They're also harder to remove because the follower is under bolt tension. Am I missing something? People seem to like them when I do some searching.
>>
>>34228354
Why people like slavshit weapons so much? It's objectively inferior to any rifle western countries have.

>>
>>34233384

Not really.
>Am I missing something?
No. They're a little heavier, and the BHO is just a faster way to see that you're empty.
If you don't like them, don't use them.
They're are plenty of other combloc surplus steel mags available.
>>
>>34233461
I don't necessarily dislike them, I just bought three croat made mags that have a hold open feature, I've just found them to be a tad cumbersome in the mag change compared to your standard follower type mag.

I know my shitty WASR can sometimes "lock" the bolt back by slowly riding it forwards, but I've always been under the impression that it's not a feature and more an imperfection in the manufacture/assembly in the rifle. It's useful for a more western style mag change though.
>>
>>34233495
>three croat made mags
There's your problem.
Yugo surplus mags are different than the new Croatian made mags.
They tend to be way too tight in a magwell as far as lug lockup is concerned.
>I know my shitty WASR can sometimes "lock" the bolt back by slowly riding it forwards, but I've always been under the impression that it's not a feature and more an imperfection in the manufacture/assembly in the rifle
WASRs haven't been shitty for some time, so get that out of your head.
The issue is, and has been, the geometry of the G2 hammer.
The profile is to trapezoidal, and the ridge on it tend to hang on the bolt/carrier. This is also what's has been causing the peening on carrier tails that's been brought up a lot lately.

Reprofile the hammer, and get some actual Yugo surplus mags and your issues will go away.

>while this is just one video, it'll give you the basic idea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPjcy9B8seY
>>
>>34233540
>They tend to be way too tight in a magwell as far as lug lockup is concerned.
Ahh, gotcha. I noticed they seemed to be a tad on the tighter side. They're nice to look at and have a decent finish to them, so I may try taking a bit of material off of the catch to hopefully smooth them out a bit.

With the hammer issue, is it something I need to be worried about as far as long term longevity goes? I really don't mind the bolt hanging up so long as it's not damaging the rifle. On mine it's pretty easy to avoid and like I said before can actually be pretty useful at times.

Thanks for the advice though, don't usually come to this board let alone these threads.
>>
>>34233561
Use them for show. I've had a few of those and everyone was trash. You have to file a bunch of material to get it to fit and then the BHO doesn't even work and sometimes the grinding will fuck wth how the mag seats in the rifle so sometimes the bolt won't pick up rounds. I stick to Romanian mags.
>>
>>34233565
That's unfortunate. But oh well, lesson learned. I was hoping they'd work a little nicer, they actually seem to fit my magwell snugly and not rattle around which I thought was nice.

Looking at the angles on the lug it seems like the Croat mag has a much shallower angle to the bottom portion compared to my standard steel mags, and it's definitely longer too.

I'll probably take a file to one of them just to see what can be done about it, but seeing that made me less confident that it'll actually work.
>>
>>34233561
>is it something I need to be worried about as far as long term longevity goes
Depends on who you ask.
While the carrier peening is not good, unless it causes other malfunctions it's a non issue.
However, it can lead to the carrier getting jammed at the rear because the peened area gets hung up.

If 10-20 minutes with a file is beyond what you want to do, you can always swap it out for a surplus hammer.
They are available on the Files, as well as some shops, for as little as $7.

Nah, I don't mind putting some time into it. In a perfect world I'd like to have some sort of locking feature, but it is what it is. If it's harmful to the other parts it's something I'd rather take care of than leave be even if I do like the "feature".

Thanks for the info Anon

I went shooting onna mountains with some friends this weekend and let them put some mags through my SLR with Obzor and they loved it. None of them liked my Maadi though. I shot one of their Tavors for the first time and I'm not 100% sure what I think of it. It was fun but I'd rather just shoot a traditional AR or similar rifle than a bullpup. It made me rethink wanting an AUG, even though I want one for the cool factor and history of the gun rather than the practicality

Also someone showed up and was shooting an old Winchester 1895 and that completely relit the spark of wanting one for me. They're so cool but I didn't have the balls to go talk to him about it. I'm considering selling my FAL and buying an 1895 because they're really cool and because muh JMB (pbuh). Forget wanting .38 Super, I want the last of the Winchester levers again

I cant say for sure as ive never seen it naked (i should take it apart one day) but it seems so. Only thing i can think of is maybe the barrel end of the stock hangs from something on the gasblock, kinda like siaga handguards clung onto on the extra long pins. But i dont think that is the case.

I've read that but after having finally actually shot a bullpup it doesn't feel as slick as I imagined it feeling. Granted I've never shot an AUG and it's a different gun than the Tavor but now that I've shot a Tavor it's the closest thing I've got to compare

I really want to shoot an AUG and FS2000, that way I'll know for sure if I want one or the other instead of just buying one blindly because I think they're both cool (AUG is cooler but the FS2000 has its merits that I also really like)

>>34235660
I mean it felt nice enough in the hands but actual shooting wasn't that great. The stock trigger was meh and it felt kind of snappy for being a 5.56 rifle. It was heavier than i imagined it being

What, so every Caигa owner has to retroactively convert their rifles to 922r compliant versions?
>>
>>34235882
Yes if they modify them outside of their sporting configuration. That's part of the conversion process, if they're modified then they're no longer original and therefore 922r applies and they need US parts.

But nobody follows 922r any ways so none of that dumb stuff matters.
>>
If you are going from a rifle which is a "sporter" configuration to say a normal style ak then yes. You are suppose to.

Top tip: do what you want. 922r a shit.

Hot shit can we not do this 922r bullshit? When was the last time the ATF stripped your rifle and counted US parts?
I hate this part of gun culture. In every thread I find while searching a how to or whatever, the first answer is some old fuss going, "not sure you want to do that, what are your plans for 922r compliance?" Then, rather than any real input, itnjust turns into a circle jerk of 922r talk.

Goddamn it's so fucking annoying.
Guess what ATF, my guns aren't compliant because I removed the us muzzle brake and magazine. Come at me.

>magazine counts towards domestic parts
>insert combloc mag into gun, now nonconpliant
Yeah a real solid law.

Kinda. It's more cumulative but that shit always annoys me because complying with 922r shouldn't even be on our radar.

>>
>>34236713
The whole rifle is cobbled together for deact sale, i bet theu used defective parts that were not good enough for a service rifle.
>>
>>34236003
Easy to work with if you're smart. Make a few modifications to some parts at home and punch 'USA' in it when finished.
>>
>>34236706
Some of the parts might have? No way to tell really. I'm under the impression that a lot of deacts are made expressly for the purpose of being a deact. But the parts still come from the same production lines. Don't quote me, just my theory.
>>
>>34237041
Thats what i was thinking too. It would account for the part discrepancies.
>>
>>34237145
Some of the deacts in Russia are actual deacts. Mostly the older guns like RPKs or AK47s or AKMs. But I've even seen where some of the AK-74 deacts are actually just MMGs made from a hodgepodge of parts. Of course there are legitimate AK-74 deacts too. But most of the modern guns are MMGs. Don't get me wrong, they're still a great source for parts if you're willing to buy from Russia, but you should assume the parts were not from an actual military firearm.

I've read differing accounts, some people say it's a true defect and others say it's specifically for semi auto only rifles as the third hole isn't necessary when you're not shooing full auto. I'm not sure which is correct but I'm leaning toward defect as I find it hard to believe that they'd take the time to intentionally not drill a single hole for a semi only brake instead of just continuing to mass produce brakes as normal and just grabbing one for any rifle they'd need one for

>>34238533
Dang you got me, I just stuck some bubble gum in the hole and painted over it to make it look like it was missing a hole
