my friend is looking is at a Norinco t97 NSR. Now im sure most of the /k/anadians on here only know about the T97NS which has the carrying handle ontop. But i cant find any differences about the two rifles except the carrying handle, and cant find anywhere on google or youtube about the differences between the two. Also it comes with an eotech sight ($900 apparently) might be a fake, flat top receiver mod, 2x 10 round ar pistol mags, 3x 5rd ar mags, and a bunch of ammo for $1100 maplebucks. Should he pull the trigger?

technically there are three versions:
the original T97 NSR with the carry nadle
T97 NSR with the iron sights cut off, handle removed and the FTU upper put on it (often sold with the mod already attached from dealers)
the T97 NSR-A or Gen 2, which is a flat-top upper version Norinco made after they saw the success the FTU mod had here in maple land
>picrelated

speaking of whitch, the Gen 2 has been brough in and sold out and STILL there isn't a single fucking review of it anywhere. has anyone seen a review, please link if you have or if you actually bought one, please make a review

looks like they just got restocked at Tenda:

there was another dealer or two, but I remember Tenda because the other guys had it for $100 more

No one can use the words "competence":and RCMP in the same context.

I had a staff sargeant from GIS who testified that he was a "firearms expert" yet he couldn't identify a common M856 tracer round with an "IVI" stamp on it. The internal e-mails show their uncertainty.

He also told the judge that my genuine HK G3/91 .22 cal conversion kit would fit into my deact HK93A1 and convert it to full auto.

Mounties are fucking idiots which makes them all the more dangerous to Canadians.

The value of your Mosins is dependant on the degree of matching numbers. All stamped matching includingon the bayonet and you'd probably be fine asking $350. Mismatched or elecropenciled numbers will drop that to $275 on the high end.
>>
>>34194214
It's not a huge deal for me since pretty much every semi auto centerfire rifle/carbine has the limit, but it is nice to do a mag dump with 10 rds once in a while. Mostly it's just a pain when I want to do something like a 6 round drill with reloads which is impossible.
>>
>>34194468
Exactly. These fuckers in my town do nothing about the crackheads and drug dealers. All they do is hand out tickets for bullshit like "not fully stopping at a stop sign" or harass high school kids for having too many passengers in their vehicle. Maybe there's some based mounties out there, but a lot of them are just useless fucks that do nothing to improve Canada.

Yeah as prohib device.

7 A crossbow or similar device that

(a) is designed or altered to be aimed and fired by the action of one hand, whether or not it has been redesigned or subsequently altered to be aimed and fired by the action of both hands; or

(b) has a length not exceeding 500 mm.

Fun fact: Earlier drafts of what became the Firearms Act included crossbows in licensing. Some early PAL's even had "crossbow" written on them.

Not that hand crossbows being illegal has made it particularly difficult to get them. I remember seeing them at flea markets and garage sales all over Quebec well into the late 00's, often sitting right next to butterfly knives, switchblades and shuriken.

Is there any law more retarded than the storage laws?

There's basically no possible way to actual enforce them, and the only time they ever come up is if the perpetrator was in a home defense situation. It's a law that exists just so you can at the very least waste someones time and money because he legally defended his home.
>>

Depends how dumb the prosecutor is. The guy who prosecuted Ian Thompson tried to claim that he tampered with evidence because the spent shell casings weren't found where he fired warning shots, not realizing that revolvers don't eject spent casings. He was oblivious as to why so many people in the room were laughing at him.

Yes, it doesn't matter how clear cut the situation is, they will keep throwing the most retarded arguments they can come up with hoping you'll eventually get so annoyed you'll agree to their demands (and throughout the trial they will constantly make demands: "We'll take away all your guns and PAL but you won't go to jail... >Mr. Mahler suggested Mr. Thomson even picked up the spent shell casings from his porch after he fired his gun and took them inside to hide them in his bedside table.

>Seeming confused, Mr. Thomson said he didn’t understand.

>“Didn’t they fall to the ground?” Mr. Mahler asked, apparently thinking shell casings from a .38-calibre revolver were ejected from the gun with each shot, similar to casings that spit out of a semi-automatic handgun, as is typically seen on TV.

>“No,” said Mr. Thomson as the crowd of gun advocates watching from the public gallery chuckled and guffawed at Mr. Mahler’s mistake.

>Spent shells from a .38 remain in the gun’s cylinder until it is opened and they are removed. Mr. Thomson took the casings out at the same time he opened the gun to reload it, which was at the bedside table, where the casings were when police arrived, he said.

fit and finish being better on the CSA + it being built on a new receiver, rather than from milsurp parts, is fairly common knowledge not disputed by those that own either. the tabbed bolt to prevent the 858 gremlin issue and a few other things made the CSA worth the extra money for many people. it's literally one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. when 858 was readily available last, it was in the $700 range and CSA was pushing $1000, so the difference in price was substantial enough for some to go for the 858, but the difference in quality is also what explains the numerous CSAs you see even in this thread.

>old NDP (Jack muthafuckin' Layton) wanted to get rid of the LGR
Ehhhh... Yes and no.
Some NDP MP's promised during elections that if a vote ever came up to scrap it that they'd vote in favour of doing so but the upper echelons of the party were decided pro-registry. When it finally came time to vote (and keep in mind that it was a Private Member's Bill which are typically a free vote), while the LPC and Bloc both voted 100% against abolition, the NDP whipped the vote just enough so that it wouldn't pass (by like 1 vote) while trying to give as many of aforementioned MP's the ability to vote the way they said they would without it actually going through, though some still ended up having to break that promise.

I was living in Quebec at the time and everyone I knew who was a Bloc voter was pissed the hell off at them for being an ineffectual and corrupt party, so they voted for "Jack Clayton" (how they said and sometimes spelled his name, no joke)... That's how NDP MP's who were literally just people who agreed to have their name on the ballot so the NDP could have a name on the ballot got elected, including a girl who was elected in a heavily French riding while being completely unable to speak French at all and actually being in Vegas during the election. Pretty sure she was still in school, too, though I'd have to double-check that. Of course, the NDP never did understand why they suddenly had a surge of support where they spent zero time actually campaigning and after Layton died and the reigns were passed onto Mulcair, they figured if most of their ridings were in Quebec, that they might as well become the new Bloc.

Several years ago the Nanaimo Mounties lost an HK MP5. Someone walked off with it in broad daylight at a public open house. It's lovingly stored at a private location, more as a trophy. lol!

Vancouver Island mounties have more than the usual share of dirtbags. They keep the SIU busy that's for sure. Port Alberni and Oceanside (Parksville/Qualicum Beach) detachments are the worst. Port Hardy was bad until a new Detachment commander told the scumbag cops to quit or move on. Several went to Courtenay where I know firearms owners have had run-ins with. Another went to Oceanside.

One of the four mounties who killed Dziekanski is in Nanaimo.

The CO who sent the 4 mounties to their deaths in Mayerthorpe was supposed to take over Port Alberni detachment until it was found he used a govt cred card to rack up $50,000 in personal expenses and was ~suspended with pay~ for fraud.

...just a tip of the iceberg.

Find this book if you can, heard the RCMP don't like it. The RCMP should not be in BC and it can be argued they are here illegally.

Welcome to Canada, where having the same license as our police force doesn't make you applicable to own the firearms that you are licensed for. No, the "Chief Firearms Officer" has to make sure you want muh ebil Glawk or Babykiller15 for a legal purpose (I.E. not for defending yourself or your family. That's the RCMP's job! Just wait 20 minutes with 3 knifewielding crackheads in your house) before you can have it registered to you.

It's completely fine to send it through Canada Post though. Totally not a danger to public safety.

It's like buying a car, and then ICBC telling you that you've got to fax a letter to the minister of transportation explaining where you intend to drive, and how fast you intend to go. These motor vehicles are so dangerous, we can't just let anyone have them! People might drive faster than the mandated speed limit!

Basically, it's just missing boreal forests. But I think all the rest, and particularly the weather, makes up for it.

Is the max mag limit the same for undetachable mags? American moving to Canada, thought this would be a good time to get a cheap svt
>>
>>34209193

SKS is pinned to 5. M1 Garand can use the full 8 rounds.
>>

Lol my renewal took 3 weeks, it was about to expire in 90 days and I got a reminder from rcmp. Maybe that's just Saskatchewan though.

Yes.

No.

Maybe if the Conservative Party beats Trudeau and actually gives a shit about gun owners beyond lip service to ensure votes. Probably not, though.

>>

I was hoping the SKS would be able to get around that rule with the magazine being internal and all that. I imagine a 5 round magazine fed gun would be able to fire more shots in a minute than a ten round stripper clip fed gun.
Good god I hate gun laws
>>
>>34209697
Yup. No gun laws innawoods, though, and Canada has plenty of that.

Can you unpin a mag and then just repin it when you finish?
Nogunz here who doesn't know how that actually works
>>
>>34209739
you can do what ever the fuck you want in theory.

a unpinned mag becomes a prohibited device, for however long it exists in that state.
>>
>>34209711
I don't suppose they have 5 round stripper clips for it?
>>
>>34209739
Idk how many fucking times ivw had to unpin mags cause of shit pin jobs that caught the spring, or simply to take the fucking thing apart to maintenance it, i cam unpin a mag in literally 15 seconds with a good knife. Also i had on of the sks's with a tiny pin tack welded to the follower, went to see how well it was on there and with just like 3lbs of force it broke off. If theres any law breaking i can agree with(looking at you CTG and moleman) its magazine capacity. The fact you have to break the law to maintain your firearm is absolutely absurd, especially when it literally impedes the function of your firearm. Also extra bullshit if your mags are in the 80-100$ range and they are pinned to 4rds and dont work cause the spring binds on the rivet.

And oddly enough the Lee Enfield is also listed as exempt, even though it isn't semi-auto and should't have a mag limit.

Also some belt feds are unlimited as well as certain original luger drum mags.

fellow /k/anadians, im thinking of getting a new rifle. help me decide with the pros and cons of each: ruger mini 14 or the CZ 858. i live in BC (east kootneys) so i go innawoods often and also live near lots of bears, and i frequently go to Alberta in the winter to shoot coyotes so 5.56 would be better for yotes but i know x39 would be better for bears(i have a .45colt and 12g for bears but i want something else also). which one and why?

Pro-Israel is a fairly common view with Neo-Conservatives and Neo-Liberals alike. I think whether or not you like Jews, it's best to not align too closely to Israel. Sure you can get along with them, but do we really need to suck their dicks so hard? We give them a fuck ton of money.
I mean look at this ad I just saw today, this shit is insane.

762 FMJ's are fine on fur. The VZ is a more reliable and cheaper to feed rifle. The only advantage you might have with a mini is ease of mounting magnified optics.

>If we want to have an ally in the region
Found the problem right here. Why the fuck do we need an ally in a region of desert people? What could they possibly offer us except oil, which we already have plenty of?
>>
>>34214527
There's absolutely no reason to associate with desert people to begin with.
>>
>>34214535
Exactly. We live nice and far away from desert people, separated by two lovely oceans. It's the pinnacle of madness to waste our hard-earned money interacting with them, when they have absolutely nothing to offer.
