the stock actually makes it a usable very handy and compact truck/brush gun.
there not that bad down south, but still there are some that keeps the deer and cow population very low compared to some areas so it sucks for hunting where i trap. im yet to shoot a wolf, id love to though.

They are usually 1:12 for the 20" twist rate isn't really important for AR's here. Basically with 1:12 it will be more accurate with lighter bullets.

I thought it was 1:9 was better for lighter bullets and 1:12 for heavier?

1:12. The old Norc is a perfect A1 clone, twist rate and all, which means you'll want 55gr rounds.

do you specifically want a 20" barrel A1 clone? because Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport 2 can be had for $650-$700 brand new, and that's an American made AR with a lifetime warranty

>not knocking Nork ARs, they were the best bang for the buck when they were $500 and th closest cheapest American ones were pushing a grand
but things change, major manufacturers in US, much like the rest of the world, expected Hillary to win and demand for ARs to skyrocket in a panic-buying frenzy in Burgerland. So they amped up production with that expectation in mind. Trump won, panic buying never came, and now they've got warehouses full of overstock, which is why prices have dropped substantially. Right now is probably the best time in a long time to buy your first American made AR.

1/9 is better for 55-62gr, this is the most common bulk and military overruns ammo you will find, keep in mind the 1/9, 1/8 and 1/7 are typically when talking about 14.5-16" barrels

when you've got a 20" barrel, you've already got the most velocity out of a 5.56 that you can get and have stabilized the bullet with a much longer barrel, so it'll shoot light and heavy rounds a lot more accurately than 14.5" or 16" barrels at the ranges you are most likely to shoo it at, regardless of the twist rate

the big thing about AR is the modularity and tacticoolness and Norcs are well known for not exactly being mil-spec in a variety of ways. if you're looking to get that Vietnam era feel, the 20-incher is the best and one of the very few options. if you want a modern AR to tacticool the shit out of, maybe think about something else

really depends what you want it for, if you have a range with good long distances and you want the A1 feel, go for it. if you want to slap rails and lasers on it or run it in 3-gun competitions down the road, something with a shorter barrel and a bit lighter might be your ticket

meh, I don't judge, it's your rifle and SKS was a post-war in-between design. a solid design, but one with horrible introduction timing.

whether you get one from China or Russia (or more likely Ukraine) has at most seen some school-children and civilian reserves, or the odd conscript in some village that didn't have enough AK47s, learning to shoot it at some logs 60 years ago, as far as it seeing action is concerned.
you're not ruining some historical relic or a battle-weathered firearm steeped in history of saving the life of some Soviet hero countless times.

look into ATI, they make a few inexpensive and fairly decent quality SKS replacement stocks
>>
>>34219195
>polished up the trigger to 2.5lb with insta-reset
confirmed for never having taken apart the trigger assembly/knowing how SKS trigger works

to get 2.5lb trigger on an SKS, you would have to do a fuckton of filing the sear, not just polishing, likely cutting down the mag latch spring or replacing it with something closer to the spring you find in a ballpoint pen. having altered the sear that dramatically, you'd have to reprofile the disconnector for the rifle to even function AND after all that, making the trigger that light would absolutely ensure you'd have a fucking runaway SKS every time you tried to fire it.

you can come here and honeypot autists all you like, constable, but don't insult the intelligence of those who aren't your target audience

alright, but that's not nearly enough for what you are claiming
if your rifle is safe to fire (and it doesn't look like you went full autists and destroyed the sear) you are at best at 8lb, MAYBE 6lb if you modified the spring or swapped it for a Wolff one

>>
>>34219974
I've worked mine done to about 5lbs without doing anything major other than polishing. So it's not a far stretch to have a 3 pound trigger.
>>
>>34219931
yeah I'll believe it when I see an uninterrupted video of a trigger gauge being used on something heavy like a mosin and then taken to your SKS.
I'm sure you

and yes, if you grind the sear (in particular if you change the angle to positive engagement, which you really should if you are reducing be contact surface), there IS something else you need to do, which is reprofile the disconnector, in particular the little notch that catches your hammer (since you now changed the angle of the hammer, the notch will need to be moved a bit as well)

with trigger assembly removed from rifle, try engaging the sear and then let go of the disconnector, then finish pulling the trigger. normally the hammer will move and bit but will be caught by the notch in the disconnector that I'm talking about above. in your case it might not and drop all the way. it's not something you'd see from just operation, but it is something that will make your SKS no longer drop-safe and allows for a possibility for out of battery fire
>although if your trigger is anywhere near of what you claim, it's not drop safe just due to the nature of the trigger

Probably a vz58. Same gun basically, CZ858 is designed by CZ, vz58 is done by CSA. The vz58 is the better of the two.

>>34220537
Its a CSA. More in line with an actual vz.58 than the 858 models.

Careful-oftentimes nowadays the mags for cucked markets like us are either notched/modified in a way that removing the notch will wreck the mag, or actual 10rd mags with a giant plastic bit on the bottom to function as the entire lower bit of the mag.

That being said, you can import some proper mags, drill the pins and stuff 'em in your sock drawer or whatever.

They are okay and easily made very nice with a bit of work. In the Battle Rifles section of CGN, there are tons of great tips and guides on how to make them shoot more reliably and accurately. Keep an eye out for stuff posted by Hungry, especially. He used to actually do classes where you bring you 305 and he walks you through it while also supplying all the tools necessary.

I just want some more.

I'll check in again tomorrow. Like I do every day, and will do every day. Until I have enough.

So I just bought this off a guy used on CGN for $675.

- Aero Precision complete lower with Magpul MOE grip, Magpul trigger guard, & Magpul MOE SL milspec stock
- Aero Precision upper with:
- Bushmaster BCG
- Midwest Industries 10.5" SSM handguard
- S&J gas tube & charging handle
- DA 14.5" chrome-lined 1/7" pencil barrel
- BCM 0.625" low-profile gas block
- Samson fixed BUIS
- Magpul type-2 M-LOK rail covers
- Magpul QD sling swivels

Considering my first AR, a Norc, was $700 after tax, and S&W ARs are about $699, I think I got a pretty good deal. Based on quick math, this AR would have cost probably over a grand when it was first built.

I'm not him and honestly I don't think he's done. I'm sure he'll come back with more. If I had to guess, he's just going to tow his line and disregard criticism -- basically if you've ever seen cops deal with someone that's a suspect or being arrested, they don't prove anything to the person or answer his questions, they just plow ahead with their collection of evidence, questioning, making the arrest, etc., essentially controlling the interaction, not turning it into a debate or dialogue. If he is trying to pretend to be with the authorities or is actually with them, that's basically the mode he will operate in. the fact CTG and MM called him out and he didn't prove something to them doesn't really change anything in that sense.

good stuff
hopefully he did a good job putting it together. didn't just eyeball or use German torque specs on the vital parts of the built, but did it right. that would be my main worry with a rifle someone else built.

btw, did CanAm ever actually sell 14.5" barrels on their own? I don't remember that ever being the case, could be a salvage from some other build.
otherwise, parts list on paper does sound like a very good deal. it's really just a matter of how well it was put together and I guess how much ammo (how much of it steel) the guy ran through it before selling
>>
>>34229558
He said he ran 300 rounds of 55gr ammo through it, and that there's no issues with the rifle, he has a good rating too, so I don't think he's bulshitting me.
Not sure if the ammo he ran through it was steel, but that's not a huge concern to me, since it's probably what I'll mostly be running too.

they also carry the enhanced trigger which is supposed to further pimp it by reducing the travel and the reset (that's 70 buckaroos, but still fairly reasonable and is the only other part you'd need for a complete overhaul)
most videos online and a lot of accounts on forums say these are a worthwhile investment that really changes the feel and performance of the pistol, hope it helps
>>
>>34229919
ah, good catch! yeah then it's definitely not a massive deal then.
especially since this is the first time I've even heard of Fedarms

seeing as how CanAmmo posted a different picture of a rifle with that very upper on CGN a while back, saying these would be the new Dominion Arms rifles and they'd be American made, I'm guessing that's going to be the new DA line.

ok but for your $800 you at last get:

>a long ass single-piece top picattiny rail
>what amounts to a quad rail in the front
>ambidextrous AR style mag release button
>bolt ground down and new magwell installed for the ability to use 10 round XCR pistol mags
>barrel cut down to minimum NR length of 18.5" and threaded to accept actual muzzle breaks not SKS pin on ones
and in the end the rifle is half a pound lighter than stock SKS

so while I agree it's a retarded monstrosity and is stupid way to try and get an SKS to be tacticool, at least you can see that your money is buying you a bunch of mods and work put into it that you may see as enhancing the rifle's actual functions.
>it's basically a poor man's XCR for 3rd of the price
