My only AR is a 20" Colt A4 HBAR with detachable carry handle. I'm kind of wanting a normal old A2 upper. Should I just deal with the A4 upper as its functionally the same with the detachable carry handle while also allowing me to mount stuff or should I just spend needless money on an A2?

As much as I enjoy building AR's I have no interest in tracking down ops inc collar or buying PRI stuff individually

I have one but don't fly it in the hobby circles, it's more for video work but at the hobby shop I've noticed there's a disdain for drones, mostly old dudes sitting at the counter complaining about them and how they should be harshly regulated.

The main issue is that with airplanes and the RC hobby in general, there's certain etiquette and safety rules as well as general common sense things that you do. People who just buy a quad off the shelf at Best Buy have no idea what they're doing as far as that etiquette and safety is concerned.

While it's gotten really easy over the years, RC flying has typically been pretty expensive, and it's very easy for a novice to screw up building an airplane for the first time, then crash, and leave the hobby forever if they're not dedicated. The expansion of inexpensive and easy to fly quad copters has infested the hobby with people who don't know what they're doing and are not safe.

The hobby went unnoticed by the FAA for like 60 years, and then dumbasses with quad copter start flying in the glideslope of LAX and now the FAA is in everybody's asses as a result. Being semi-exclusive was a good thing.

One personal example, pic related was sitting on the ground at the flying field, and some dumbass comes up with a large quad copter, and begins to fly around near the vehicles and the airplanes parked on the ground. When I very politely asked him not to hover his Best Buy special over my $5000 airplane, he blew me off. I then politely suggested that birdshot would resolve my problem if he didn't do it.

Trying to install this Magpul SL-S stock and can't get it on over the buffer tube. Is this long metal piece inside the stock (right behind the adjustment pin and runs underneath the buffer tube when installed) supposed to be this high? I bought the mil-spec version and it won't fit onto my mil-spec buffer tube

Following the instructions exactly. I pull down the lock pin with a hex wrench and it clears the buffer tube fine. After the lock pin clears, the piece of metal behind it is too high to let the stock move forward to mount completely

Fit guide in the box tells the difference between commercial and milspec buffer tubes, and the stock wouldn't even fit over a commercial spec one

Pull down more, harder, put good pressure on it. It sounds like you aren't pulling down enough to get the pin to fully drop. Once it's on, that keeps the stock on the tube.
