A Fudd is someone who only cares about keeping their durr rifle and shotgun and are perfectly willing to throw "assault weapons" and their owners under the bus to protect their rights, which will never be under attack anyway so long as the citizenry can buy high capacity assault clips and shoulder things that go up.

It's hard, sometimes. A lot of people point out the durr rifle thing with Fudds, but Bubbas are just as bad in the opposite direction because of the flagrant shit they do to provoke the ATF. One tries to get restrictions on everything that doesn't fall within their own special snowflake domain, and the other attractions unwanted attention by doing dumb shit. It isn't Fudds who actively work to try and find loopholes with ATF rulings and local legislature for instance.

Fudds though like wood and metal. And I like wood and metal, and because I tend to avoid provocation I'll say that Fudds are better than Bubbas.

What's with the explosion in the usage of this term
I mean I get it I hate do-nothing gearqueers as much as the next guy but I can't recall much, if anyone saying this on /k/ before last year even then it was used pretty infrequently. now it's everywhere.
I even checked desuarchive and my theory bares out. Before and during early 2016 it was pretty much exclusively used to refer to actual LARPers

Fudds are worse because they tend to actively harm gun rights as long as their deer guns aren't banned.
