Have you tried distilling mead to make honey whiskey?

I make ginger ale and apple cider with honey on occasion, never really been into homebrewing. I'm just a humble beekeeper who doesn't drink hard liquor.

I can't stand the naturefags though, most of them hate farmers and hunters.

get a big jar of peanut butter, and scoop out / eat some of it. then add in a mixture of:

-trail mix

-banana chips

-honey

-beef jerky

-dried fruit

-dark chocolate

-granola

mix that shit together and put the top on a put in in your backpack. eat it when hungry, has a shitload of calories, and a ton of protein, carbs, and fat.

What are the types of local flowers that your bees get nectar from? How much flowers do you need in an area before getting started in beekeeping?

How much for a small centrifuge?
>>
>>34039739
>What are the types of local flower that your bees get nectar from?
Apple trees and Manuka (am New Zealand)
>How much flowers do you need in an area before getting started in beekeeping?
If you're only doing one or two hives (small topbar or single draw) then you can get away with a small orchard or around an acre of rough pasture.
>How much for a small centrifuge?
Don't even bother with them.
>>

Unironically poptarts.

That's some high-quality honey you got there. How do prevent the girls from getting fucked over by diseases?
>>
>>34039438
ur own semen
>>
>>34039822
Haven't had any trouble with disease (only been going for 2 years) but have been getting some trouble with mites, I just have mesh on the bottom of my topbar hive and the bees just go on the mesh and shake off the mites. There's a big time beekeeper down the road from me so he gives me a hand with stuff I don't understand, will give him a visit if they get disease. But at the end of the day it's just a hobby, I don't make any money off it.

no thanks

Hardtacks, they can double as body armor and roof shingles to build you a shelter against storms.

Speaking of, anybody got a good recipe?
>>
>>34039935
FLOUR, AND WATER. MIX UNTIL DOUGH, ADD SALT, BAKE FOR AN HOUR AT 300 OR SOME SHIT, THEN REPEAT. capslock because that's the only recipe I'm aware of. Unless you're aware of some shit the world hasn't heard in two hundred years or so.

Bees can sense if you're a pussy, also heat up your sugar water so it doesn't turn into a crystally mess. Not really much to it.

What are the other uses of sugar water other than spraying the bees to distract them?

What's your extraction method?

>>
>>34040025
I fed them sugar water for the first few months to speed up the honeycomb making, after that you don't really need it so long as you leave enough honey for them after extraction.

For extraction I just crush the honeycomb in a bucket using a potato masher (look for ex army ones, best investment you'll make) and then strain it through cheese cloth for a couple days in a closed bucket out in the sun. The honey will be slightly waxy looking but you won't be able to taste or tell any difference in texture, and you get to keep the wax.
>>
>>34040079
I'm guessing that you aren't using those classic Langstroth hives. What type are you using?
>>
>>34040105
Topbar my African American male sibling.
>>
>>34040141
Why not a Langstroth?
>>
>>34040193
No reason, just liked the look of a top bar hive. I'm not really doing this professionally, just wanted to have some honey to have in my porridge in the mornings.

>>
>>34040222
I agree, top bar hives look aesthetic. I've always wondered; How do you get the bees to build the comb on the wood slats and not anywhere else?
>>
>>34040295
You buy some honey comb and cut it into strips, then cut a grove on the table saw and glue it in with wax.

It was one of the first cultivated grains goddammit. This shit will make you STRONK. You can make bread and alcohol with it too.

Chicken Noodle Soup. No, that is not a joke. You can keep cans of the shit for decades, it still tastes good cold and room temp, one regular can is usually around 300 calories, already in a sealed canister so easy transportation, and you don't need utensils, you can just drink it straight from the can. Along that note, pretty much all soups besides the real shitty no-substance ones like that campbel creamy shit
