Slav helmet is here

nvg shroud: plastic 5/10
helmet color: not tan 6/10
suspension system: awkward but works 6/10
arc rails: not high end but not china shit 6/10
bungee cord things: they work and seem nice but I've never like any sort of them ever 8/10
dial system: works well with good solid clicks and positive pops when engaging and disengaging harness 8/10
padding: padding is probably the nicest thing about the helmet over all. You have the base padding and then two sets of addon padding to make the helmet custom fit to your head the way you need/want it to. 8/10

overall its a good buy at $300 but you need to remember that it is a $300 dollar helmet and not a $1k ops core competitor.

I have my Wilcox L4G11 in mine and I have tried to pull the mount out with with a good bit of force and even gave it some knocks on a table to try and pop it out. Its stayed in just fine

A standard USGI bivy cover and patrol bag are great some what cheap options. If you are in a warmer area a bivy cover and poncho liner are all you'll need. In the PNW I would carry bivy+patrol bag+ poncho liner just to be safe. Since its may and its still in the 50's during the day. If you can get a full Military sleep system you will be set.

It happened to me twice just by having the rifle slinged and shooting it for a few hours, my friends AR with a Gen3 MI rail got his knocked out of alignment just from the gun falling down while leaned against a wall.

Took a look at the pastebin first, couldn't find anything that really matched up with my needs.

Any bearfit guys out there?

I'm 6'7, with a 54-56" chest, not fat, just quite literally big boned with a heft of muscle, Bane mode. I go work out, and it won't change anything.

After a bit of sizing its clear my only real choice for plates is that I need to go for true blue 11x14, anything else either won't fit or will be dinky as shit.

I'm looking for something that has side plates as well, given I'm a
>Big guy
I'm also a big target, and having something with side plates, would be great as well.

I've been looking on and off, but with so many different sites with questionable reviews, and my size being what it is, anything I find reviews for is done by guys with more fat than cash reviewing their questionably legitimate Condor plate carriers, without the plates that, "They'll order when they get some more money."

I just want a plate carrier, man. I want to be able to go inna woods with my paranoid a/f bros and plink custom reloads and joke about STALKER while waving around geiger counters.

Any worthwhile directions, or guys with a similar situation?

It's disappointing how bad the MWI rail is. Have one on my LR308, and one of their 2 piece handguards on my tacticool m4gery, and I've bought other shit from them, so I know their stuff IS of quality, but that fucking friction held rail, man. Who in their right mind, thought that was a fucking good idea? Yeah, fucking just glue it on there, fucking fabulous moron, now go suck start a 12 gauge, pez comes out when you pull the trigger.

do me a favor. cut a square piece of cardboard and cut it 10x12 inches. then take a picture of your chest with the plate on top. shirtless so I can see where your nipples are

but plenty of plate carriers come in larger sizes. what is your budget?
>>
>>34017554
>>34017633
and yeah, I know of the specs you gave me an 11x14 sounds about right. but I want to see if 11x14, sapi large or sapi xlarge is right for you. so just a 10x12 piece of cardboard will do.
>>
>>34017651
All this ploy to get an anon to show you his nips...
>>
>>34017596
At some point in the far flung future when I've got more money than time, basically after college, I'm going to see if I can find some sort of Barrel nut that has a similar diameter, but also has sequential, threaded holes going around the diameter as well, so I can machine and chamfer holes into my handguard and actually torque on some fucking screws so I know the damn thing will stay the hell on. Doubt I'll find a nut that will work though, given its an LR308 and those all play by their own special snowflake rules.

>>34017651
I'm at work right now, so I don't really have the ability to do a cutout. I'm mostly going off of what I got from the guys at Bullet Proof Me, they ran through my measurements, and after half an hour of going back and forth on the phone, it basically came down to my only real choice being that even at 11" wide, I could still easily shoulder my rifle. Give me a few hours and I'll be home to try.

Budget wise, I'm looking at around spending 300$ for the plate carrier itself, I know I may end up spending a bit more being that I might also need to spend extra to also have size plates added on as well.

One of my old Sups who plays Nasty Girl on the weekend, also thought that I may end up better off also getting shoulder plates as well being that mine are a good 22" across, and being from wisconsin where half the year you're freezing off your ass, heat won't matter all that much, and its really only an extra 6 pounds or so, could be worth it in some situations.
>>
>>34017872

Armor carrier has plates and a full cut of soft armor on the torso.

LBT 6094 is a plate carrier. CIRAS is an armor carrier.

That's interesting because I thought the cirash was a plate carrier because we always used ceramic plates in them and attached grenade/magazine pouches

There was never any soft armor used to my knowledge. But again I may just be a dumbass.

I'd like to run body armor and mag pouches. Id be using hard plates
>>
>>34021112
CIRAS take BALCS cut soft armor AND plates. Standard military armor outside of waivered theater and use is a full armor carrier. I find it pretty much impossible you didn't wear an armor carrier in boot or garrison training. You may be thinking of an SPC plate carrier from deployment, but that's not a CIRAS.

And the inserts.

You must have worn something with soft armor at some point. Plate carriers are not the standard in the military. Either you had an MTV or an IBA at some point. CIRAS get worn too, but if you don't recognize it, you wore one of te other options at some point.
>>
>>34021278
SPC Was it. I guess I never fucked with the plates enough to really notice the soft inserts.

Might be getting a woodland combat shirt style top, and I've got some new LAPG pants coming in the mail in that will be the same color, sierra. If the pants are good I'll grab another pair in OD.

I'll be honest I kinda wish I had got a higher quality battle belt like the HSGI. My ATS moves around a little bit.

I should decide on a carrier color kinda soon. I'm leaning towards multicam.

You want multi curve.

Multi > single > flat

Single curve has a single curve that curves the plate towards you at either the top/bottom or the sides. A multi curve has curves which curve the plate towards you on the top/bottom and the sides. For your front plate you really want multi curve, for the rear plate you can get away with a single but if you are sitting with your back against stuff you might want to check into that

mutli curves are significantly more comfortable.

Also depends on plate type and PC though. If the plate is a light lvl 3, or padded, or your PC is padded, it makes single curve plates a lot more tolerable

If youre not going to be wearing them for more than a couple hours it doesnt matter

Quick story + question:

The helmet daddy garand has on in this pic is the Delta X by protech. He raves about it as being better than the crye airframe and the most comfortable helmet hes ever worn that offers the protection it does. Looking it up it appears that you need to have some sort of credentials to buy that you need to send in or else they will cancel your order.

As i am no longer .mil i dont have access to this item directly from protech but if i found a cop or someone else thats active duty dude who wants to sell theirs off that's cool right? This question is also for any item that falls under "too cool for civilians"

Alta knee pads aren't too expensive and they will work. Might be able to snag them for around $20-$30 depending on the model and options.

I borrowed a buddies Arcteryx knee pads the other day and they performed well, however they are pricier around $50-$60.

I myself recently ordered a new pair of LAPG pants that come with knee pad pockets, and some neoprene knee pad inserts.

You can get the LAPG pants for around $20, and the 5.11 knee pads for $12.

I just got this rig for 120...

IDK what to say, it was more an impulse buy, as it's a compact rig that I can leave in an EDC backpack, but I think I regret it...

Material feels like 600D or something lighter perhaps, but overall I'm not using it for load bearing, so that's ok.

On the other hand, the tag is unserialized ("sn: N/A") manufacturere is "battlesteel dynamic products and SOLUTUINS" spelled like that, did I make a mistake?

Bump for looking for a light hardshell/rain jacket. Meant for summer hiking, or possibly to be thrown over a light layer for fall/early spring.

Also looking for a small minimal daypack hydration carrier. Mainly needs to hold 3L bladder, would be good if it could fit snacks, bug spray, and the aforementioned rainjacket. Bonus if it could be worn over a slick carrier or in conjunction with a chest rig.

Budget is $150 for both total.

Blackhawk stuff is acceptable. It used to be the go-to company, but it never really innovated and got left in the dust in the mid-2000s. Chest rig is fine as long as you don't actually plan to use it to carry a plate.

I'm thinking I might get the Rim Runner 22 or the Cloud Walker 18. Both come in a sort of OD green color, and would be extended day packs with 18L or 20L of gear storage respectively.

I could take the bladder out and use it with my Blackburn, or leave it in.

Alternatively I can get something like the Lobo or the Mule with 6L or 9L respectively of gear storage. Unfortunately the only low vis colors for these packs are black.

They would be minimal day packs I guess..

My normal day hike setup is 3-4L of water
1-2 Cliff bars, 1-2 beef jerky packages, 1-2 nut packages, and bug spray.

I'm trying to add a rain jacket (minimal) and possibly a subcompact 9mm to that as well. Right now I've got a CM9, but that may turn into a G43.

I know that my current blackburn could fit that stuff if I STUFFED it.

So I guess the 6L lobo should fit that stuff well?

If I just jump on the 18L or 22L packs though those could be extended into single overnight packs?

You know, I used to think shit like armor and helmets were over-the-top. Then two things happened.

I realized that people who frequently attend classes with other people are probably not too fucking dumb for trying to protect themselves from the "just in case" random bullet that some normie faggot can't control.

I realized that there will be more questionable people in the world tomorrow than there were today. Gear is not the worst thing to spend my money on.

Just as an added fuck you, here is my shit that likely will never see combat. I suppose I myself am a massive faglord for deciding a range belt would be a nice investment (and it has been).

the armor itself, this has been covered a million times

if you really must get a cheap piece of shit carrier, at least get a condor replica of something that's actually good

I have some cash to spend, and I'm trying to decide what to get. I've narrowed it down to three options. I'm thinking nice ceramic plates and a better plate carrier, a suppressor for my FAL, or a Vector V93. Thoughts? Also, where can I cop some good ceramics?

This 100%. Even with guys I trust a lot I would prefer to be doing drills with armor and a helmet on, just in case. Especially if we're doing movements and shooting with people "downrange".

Save up just another 30% and you can get ceramics and a higher quality carrier.

I purchased 3 of those as backup carriers for my extended family (don't ask), but I gotta tell you that they're flimsy as hell.

The shoulder straps are very thin, which would mean agony after having to wear it for more than a few hours tops. I don't even want to consider using one of those with anything other than soft plates.

If you're looking for cheap and somewhat "OK" quality, check out HUSAR Concrete (~$150) or CONDOR MOPC (~$65).

I wouldn't recommend going cheap on something like that. Think of it in the same way you would a backpack. Fit and comfort is as important as high quality seams and materials.

I personally use the Scarab Light vest from Velocity Systems. It's somewhat modular (front and back protection) with easy access to add and remove front pockets, tiny backpacks, side pockets for plates etc.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Velocity-Systems-SCARAB-Light-Armor-Plate-Carrier-Size-Large-Color-Coyote-/252292378959?hash=item3abdcc314f:g:L-8AAOSwFqJWsWP-

It's a lot more expensive (~$300), but definitely worth it.

I got a rim runner 22 a few weeks ago and am liking it quite a bit. Holds a good amount of shit even with the bladder full, but can't be packed until it becomes overly bulky. Straps are well padded but not overly so. Same for the back padding, also has good ventilation. Compression straps are solid, good organization in the front pocket, daisy chain loops on the front to run shock cord through, trekking pole loope on the bottom are perfect for strapping a poncho/pack cover/bed roll to. The bladder it comes with is also pretty nice with no leakey mouth piece.

Very good bag tor the money. Definitely peaked my interest in their products.

Anders plz

Most level 4 plates are export controlled, as such you will be stuck with III and III+ meme plates.

That being said, III+ might be the best you can get. Atleast buy reputable (avoid AR500 and other sketchy things) .

Mine is cooler than that.

What brands are reputable? All I have currently are some level 3A soft plates (aramid), China brand bullshit I got off eBay.

I have a guy, so thanks a lot. There's a good chance you saved my previous project photos :) As far as I know, only me and one other guy have that exact same setup of the Mini-14, so it isn't that common.

I mean if you have a guy there is no reason to not get level 4

There's always a question of putting said guy at risk of breaking the law, so if I can get a hold of some proper plates without involving him, that would be preferable.
