This is my sincere and honest opinion so please do not mistake this as a troll:

Why does /k/ praise this pile of garbage so much? All the years and years and YEARS I've seen it here elevated that it was the best more /k/ game ever and I finally got around to trying it and I was beyond disappointed. I at least got to finish the first game although that was a drudge but Clear Sky? I uninstalled that shitpile before I got even half-way through.

At the very least CoP is actually pretty decent as I was expecting it was going to be the better of the three but those last two, especially Clear Sky, put an awful taste in my mouth.

Overall, Fallout takes a big shit on STALKER but at least the last one was okay.

Conclusion: Liked only because of ebig slav memes xdd and people who actually played and liked these games played with a fuckton of mods the first go-around because that is the only way I could see them as being tolerable.

I say you owe it to yourself to install some freeplay or weapons overhaul mods and then you might really like it. for a "/k/-approved" shooter, the guns in vanilla are just awful. fix the sounds, textures, animations, damage models, etc and the game because multitudes better.

Got a question, what is a good backpack to wear on a innawoods excursion?

I'm trying to piece together some good gear for hiking around the hills and i just wanna ask if you guys have any recommendations regarding boots, what to put in your bag and what would be a good backpack for the job.

I'm thinking of hiking for a longer duration of time, maybe even sleeping over in the woods. Of course i would do this gradually.

I love fallout NV, it is one of my favorite games of all time. fallout never really gets as tense as stalker is for pretty much until you get exoskeleton and such. Its such an unforgiving game at the higher difficulties, and thats hard to find in FPS, plus the whole slav thing and /k/ memes

I fucking love STALKER despite its many faults, so I'll entertain you and explain its faults, its best parts, and why /k/ collectively blindly loves it.

The STALKER games, even on Master difficulty, have piss-poor combat. For the first half of the game essentially all of your guns are garbage and NPCs are able to snipe you at ridiculous distances. And while I do appreciate headshots being near insta-kill, body shots deal pretty much NO damage. You can unload 3 AK mags into a dude's chest and he MIGHT die, but more often than not he's just going to slowly turn around like a terminator and one-hit you effortlessly. The traders and bartenders are complete assholes that rip you off, some of the quests are tedious as hell, and the plot is mediocre.

With all this in mind, why do people love it?

The atmosphere. Despite its lack of polish in some areas of the game, GSC absolutely scrimped NOTHING on establishing atmosphere and setting the mood of the game. This is pretty common for most Eastern European games. The attention to detail in the world is astonishing, and games like Fallout can only hope to achieve its level.

The game is not trying to entertain you, or shove cinematic cutscenes down your throat, or pour exposition all over you like it's trying to waterboard you. This is what makes the world so completely absorbing and believable: you feel like just another guy trying to scrape by in an unforgiving world. Nothing is guaranteed, and because of that, to players already immersed in the world, it becomes an unforgettable adventure.

The big reason why /k/ mostly likes it is because it's safe to say most of /k/ are slavaboos and the game boasts a very spergy features such as realistic ballistics and switching ammo types.

I just watched the movie last night, I like it. The scenery (and everything else really) is top tier.
I haven't read Roadside Picnic yet, and the zone isn't that same as the STALKER games, but I think the film is the perfect example for real life stalker challenges. Obviously you're not going to come across mutants and shit, realistically it's glorified urbex. But you try to avoid police/security getting into places and let the fear of the unknown guide you. Just bring a handful of nuts.

There is nothing in this game that you can't grind or get with rubles earned in game. If you learn some real basic лyнa гoвopить and apply some кaптиaлизм, you can пoкyпкa, пpoдaжa и тopгoвля your way to millions of rubles in no time. You can also кyплю зp(buy gold rubles) from players in game, if you just have to have that camo paint job for you gun or armor. The only thing spending real money on that would be deemed "p2w" is the bonus experience. Which they've been giving out for free during holiday events now anyway.

I played for a while a couple years ago, and I've been playing regularly for most of a year now. This game has come a long way and is actually pretty rad, if playing larp'ing STALKER with real cлaвянe is your kind of thing.

Well besides that being literally my first project on a gun of mine the dong comes off and can be interchanged with other grips, also I tried to make it flush with the bottom of the handguard but it just had the smallest bit of wobble I wasn't comfortable with so I made the top thicker and now it's rock solid.

Really nothing, just people being used to overhauling mods cannot cope with Complete being basically just a graphical update while keeping the same atmosphere as vanilla (and nothign more). You can even get a weapon tweak for it to make it more difficult/realistic. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work with any other mod.

Since then a lot of mods came out with better graphics and more content (Autumn Aurora 2 for example), so Complete got abandoned by the community.
