if he had the carry handle on top of the receiver he would have to mount his red dot on the rail

if you mount your optic on your handguard on a non-monolithic upper, there's always going to be a small amount of wiggle/play/uncertainty because of the connection between the upper and the handguard, you're putting more parts and points of failure between the barrel and the sight
therefore your optic is going to be off by a little bit
sometimes by a degree or two (or off by 15° if you are a retarded manbaby tripfag and you mount you're handguard crooked, you know who you are and you need to kill yourself asap)

the way he did it, the optic is mounted rock solid on the upper receiver and will get him decent accuracy.

if his aimpoint gets smashed up or something, I can't tell from the thumbnail whether he has a QD mount or if he's going to be squinting through glass shards.

MBUS sights are made of weak polymer and take up too much rail space
you probably have a carbine length gas system on a 16 inch barrel, not a midlength that would provide a better shooting experience and lessen wear
your bipod probably cost 15 buck on Amazon and will fall apart after any serious use
