Ayyy.

I daily the S110V UKPK. The spy-dk is a shortened version of the UKPK, and the Urban is even different. I wish the urban had a different handle similar to the spy-dk, but even those can be improved upon. The UKPKs are definitely the most comfortable.
>>
>>33853388

I have a bunch of spydercos, but I have no idea what those all are :/ Do tell.

Anyone watch nutnfancy's CRKT Outrage review? I kind of want one now. Seems like a lot of knife for $38.
>>
>>33853522

They're all UK legal knives. The top two are UK penknives in different steels and blade shapes, grey one is an Urban, and orange one is a spy-dk. They're non locking and stay open with the way you grip the knife. Not hard use knives. The spy-dk was made to be legal in Denmark where you aren't allowed a one handed opening or locking knife. I don't live in the UK, I just like them.

>>33853522

Grab an outrage.you can find the secondhand pretty cheap.got mine a while back for 20 bucks practically new.
>>
>>33854266

If I had to buy again, I wouldn't go for the smaller ones. I just had to see if I'd like them or not. I would mainly collect UKPKs and that's it.
>>
Thinking about the Ambitious g10, is there a better alternative to this in the same price and size bracket? Do you have any experience with this knife?
>>
>>33857165

It's a bit small and chunky in the hand. They just came out with the Efficient that looks like a better knife to me.
>>
>>33857176

I can't get that one. Man the prices are fucked in my country.
>>
>>33857284

Where are you ordering from? What country?
>>
>>33857548

Slovenia, looking where to order from, so far the places I found here have the same price as Amazon.de has, but less variety and stock. Know of any good EU shops?
>>
>>33857570

Found this site, but not much for smaller knives. Don't know the knife laws for Slovenia.

https://www.knivesandtools.co.uk/en/ct/spyderco-knives.htm
>>
>>33857719

As far as I can see the laws here state that you can carry if you do not frighten people with it or use it to hurt people. So a small knife in my pocket is legal to carry around.
>>
>>33852000
Jesus Chris, is this the kind of shit Gil Hibben makes nowadays? I've got the very first of his Fantasy series knives, the Silver Shadow, that seems to be the first last and only decent knife from that series.
>>
>>33857881

I'd recommend the UKPK over the ambitious. I have both and ambitious feels bigger in the pocket and is harder to sharpen. I'd probably get the persistence over the ambitious, haven't tried that one though.

I don't carry a knife daily but I want something decent for out stuff like fishing and camping and I'm already tired of the fucking 8Cr13MoV steel from my chink knives and their weak looks.

420 has lower carbon. great for choppers, something with weight.
440 has higher carbon, making a better edge, good for lighter knives.
but, 440 can also make good choppers. over all, 440 is good.

I really can't decide between the Dragonfly 2 and the Delica 4. On one hand everywhere I read the Delica is regarded as a very good choice, but I do prefer the smaller size of the Dragonfly. Which would you guys choose as your first EDC? (BTW the price of these here is daylight robbery, 92€ for the Dragonfly and 105€ for the cheapest Delica).

>>33865583
Really it comes down to size and price. They use the same construction and materials (base models). And they have a close enough blade geometry, they are just two sizes of the same flavor.

Personally I like a larger knife, out of the two I would go with the Delica, but I tend to carry Endura sized knives.

To bad about the price, that is daylight robber. If you can find a US pen pal, you could probably have someone buy it and ship it to you for less.

Leek is a good pocket knife for delicate or small tasks, not for outdoor activities/hiking.

Would not chop with 440C at all, very few choppers in 440 for this reason.

So I'm new to knives that aren't "bought for $20 and abused for two months". What should I have to keep them sharp and shiny? Should I oil the blades to keep them rust free, will gun oil work? How do I go about sharpening something with a concave blade? Or sharpening anything at all? Because it's a kukri it came with a steel, is said tiny steel worth a damn? When I checked the internet, half said yes, other half said I might as well chuck it.

Basically, what do I need to sharpen and maintain my new knives? How do I sharpen in inside curve, and should I get some stropping stuff for the small knife?

Pic related

>>
>>33870011
I did, but I didn't know if I said "chakmak" any would know what the fuck I was talking about.

A chakmak is a honing tool that comes with most kukri, the idea being if you hone it often enough, it won't get down to "dull" very often. I guess it's used like a butcher's steel but half of the places that talk about say it's useless. Of course, some of those places also talk about getting a kukri shaving sharp, which seems retarded to me since it's a machete.

Some anon posted the folding S&W karambit in the previous, now-archived knife thread. Nominee responded with an opinion, for which he was asking. I bought one a few years ago for $16 on eBay. Hated it. Uncomfortable, sharp edges on the finger ring, blade shape was silly. Satin finish on the blade hid a really messy grind. I polished out the grinding lines and buffed it. Reshaped the blade. Cut down the stupid handle, shaping it rounded. This is the result. Still not a great knife but slightly more likeable.

>>
>>33875892
Just don't dip it in the water and you should be fine. If you coat it with anti rust or oil and clean regularly it should be fine. If it does rust you can like DLC or stonewash it or something.
Clones are known for being different sizes. The 1 is bigger than the 2 though, about the same length as the Spyderco PM2.
Be very cautious on eBay, as you know RAT clones exist and they are extremely common on there. Screencap everything.

I also live in Florida, before you do this I think we both need to find an Anon who knows what they're doing and they're from Florida.

I say this because although Florida state follows the Federal laws regarding knives (which is apparently not a bad thing), this is preempted by local ordinances which take precedence over the state and Federal laws. From what I've read, even if you've got a CCW license, it won't protect you from local ordinances. Which means if you are in the wrong place, and get stopped by a cop, and he sees you have a knife, and the laws are lax enough for him to interpret them however, or you are clearly breaking local ordinances - your ass is going to jail. I've read that you are looking at a 10k fine and 6 months if this happens.

It's the primary reason why I won't even carry a leatherman with me. And I also wouldn't even know who to call regarding assurances about this sort of thing to clarify and clear up any questions I have. Like, I could ask the cops, but that would just be the local PD - and what the cops say doesn't mean shit beforehand.

I figure that I should ask a lawyer, but what kind? And is it really worth spending the money just so I can carry around a blade?

Just got my clone LDT Sebenza 21 small from Ali for $35.

Pros:
Sharpest knife I own
Steel is pretty gud
Build quality it nearly perfect
Titanium, so its light

Cons:
Cant take apart the pivot, because the back pin is freely spinning.

Thumb stud is shitty, much like the real one.
Needs some break in.
LOCK STICK.
Clip is steel.

I know /k/ loves to meme about knives and shit but let's be serious for a moment.
I'll be starting an outdoor job (heavy field work assisting state W&F on some research projects) so I'm looking for a good knife. For the past few years I've carried a shit victorinox Swiss army knife that I received as a gift years ago, but I'm looking for something more substantial. Looking for nothing too big l, maybe 4 inches folded max. Reccomendations? Not looking to break the bank either but I realize you pay for what you get up to diminishing returnns, so let's say 40 bucks.

>tldr: looking for a nice $40 pocket knife

Here are my 3 favorite/carried/used knives.

WE 703 -amazing flipper,d2,titanium clip and back spacer, ceramic detent and bearings all for $99 best buy of the year imho.

PARAMILITARY 2 - What's to say it's a pm2 they are great, mines even better cause I reprofiles to a much more acute angle and now it's a slicing machine (20 degree for primary bevel 40 degree micro bevel)

Southard - Expensive but worth it. Great steel CTS 204P and my example must have a killer heat treat cause it takes and holds a fine edge forever, better than any other 204p,m390, or 20cv steel I have in my collection . I only sharpen it when I'm bored and it only takes a handful of passes to bring out a laser edge(after the repro) . I gave mine a finger choil mod for two reasons. 1. I like finger choils for detail work. 2. The plunge grind was ok but there was .050" of unsharpenable edge and the stones would cut into the plunge and make it look terrible(bm 940 has this problem big time). With this mod I only lose .050-.1" of edge and gain a sharpening choil/finger choil. I also tried to grind towards the flipper to avoid taking any useable edge. I think it turned out really good. Also, the hollow grind makes this knife a surprising great cutter even better than the pm2 with it's FFG.

Any recommendations of a knife that looks pretty "incognito" if I strap it to my wrist watch when I walk home from work at night? Something where you can't see the blade exactly and or the handle just looks like a square block until I unfold the blade?

Do you live in a country that forbids pockets?
>>
>>33887230
I have a shitty knife that I put on my left wristwatch only for these occasions and honestly it's super easy and quick to draw it with my right hand. It doesn't have to be incognito, I just need it to not look like I'm packing and sure, comfortable enough for the pocket.

How? Is the hand that you're pulling the knife with the same one that's wearing the watch? Because that just seems awkward and you could otherwise have your hand on your knife and have it just look like you're hanging your thumb on the corner of your pocket. If you're drawing from the opposite hand then you're involving 2 limbs in bringing your weapon to bear. This watch business seems straight out of mallninja lore.

>>33887341
You might want to try a folding knife kit. Are you already making your own blades and such? Because if so then I you might want to start by learning how to make something simple like pic related.
