RTG thread, git in here, comment on your range performance.
I have a problem where I can't pull the trigger slowly. With my Glock brand Glock 17 I hold the trigger back after a pull, and release to the reset--only to quickly jerk it again without taking time to get a better aim.
Wasted 5 rounds in a row shooting at a small steel target with the same sight picture each time, no change, no hits.
pls help
Bad time of the day to start a thread about actual shooting, you will see a slight increase in posters in the evening.
If you are interested in shooting you should check in with us in DOTM once in a while: >>33570014
Best bet to get you not to slap the reset is the ball and dummy drill https://pistol-training.com/drills/ball-dummy-drill
Although it's worth noting that if you are doing timed or rapid fire shooting you should expect to exert counterforce timed with the ignition of the gasses.
Dry fire in general will do a lot to help you mitigate unwanted movement in the gun when repping the trigger.

okie, I have done a similar drill before.
the

drill

Do counting drills because it seems like you are trying to shoot faster then you can. Count in your head one one thousand, trigger pull (hold) two one thousand (release trigger while counting) and repeat.
The age old adage
>Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Slow down until you aren't rushing anymore, you are trying to get back on the trigger too fast.

might be worth a try, thanks

That's a good one, the thing is it doesn't trick you into using the same muscle reaction on the dead chamber, because you KNOW there will be no buck from the gun, you actually behave differently.
The randomness of ball and dummy illustrates stuff that's happening during live fire that you normally cannot observe.

One more thing, I know I want finer sights. Preferably night sights for a Glock 17.
What would be some good contenders?
>>33642013
What's your primary purpose?
I would recommend blocked out rear and high profile, vibrant front post like fiber optic, phosphorescent or tritium.
>tfw that's what I rec but just have stock tritium and mepro night sights on muh HKs

Another option if I don't want to carry my rifle outside at night to investigate a noise.
Also lets me use a flashlight in the left hand.

Trijicon HD master race.

>Preferably night sights for a Glock 17.
There's a general misconception that "night sights" like pic are the end all be all sight upgrade for any handgun which isn't the case.
I made this post a few months back helping out another anon on getting some new sights on his Glock 19. Directly applicable to the 17.

hmmm
is the front sight thinner than the stock Glock? that's an important point for me.

Trijicon has all the specs on their website I believe. They also recently came out with the Trijicon HD XR which is a thinner front sight post than the standard HD.

OEM Glock is a .160 front with a .140 rear. So, shit. Dimensions matter.
The HDs in original form have a .145 front, .170 rear. They'll still cover a significant amount of the target at distance (25yds). The new XR ones use a .122 front but keep the wide rear.
Night sights can be a good thing but I don't think they're strictly necessary. Personally I'm back to using a .125" Dawson tritium front with a plain black 10-8 .156 rear. I also like the 10-8 .115 FO front with .140 rear.
I'd put focus on the front sight being high visibility first, then worry about tritium. The HDs do that but I don't care for their dimensions. The new Ameriglo FBI sights are basically HDs with a bit tighter dimensions (.125 front, .150 rear). Fiber optic sights also do this well.
