No, just a lifelong fan of combat aircraft. I have extraordinarily shitty vision as well as being red green color blind. I can still admire them, though.

The F14 was my second aircraft love. The F4U was my first.

Bear with me here. the Corsair was my first love as far as warbirds were concerned. It came from watching Robert Conrad as Pappy Boington in Baa Baa Blacksheep as a kid in the 70's. The producers gathered together every operational Corsair they could find for the show. Which meant that though the show was supposed to be set in the early war period when Bird cage F4Us were the newest models, every variant and paint scheme showed up on the show, which i realized later watching it again as an adult. Late war F4U-4s in Deep Sea Blue sat on the same flight line with early F4U-1As in the tri color scheme. at one point a French -7 even showed up, with american roundels, of course.

The F2G Super Corsair. It had a cut down rear fuselage and bubble canopy, but the big difference was the massive 24 cylinder four row Wasp Major radial engine that developed over 3000 horse power. It was found that at altitude the smaller and more efficent R2800 19 cylinder two row radial preformed just as well and only four F2Gs were built.

My second love, the Tomcat. I'm going through the smaller folders now. There's a huge aviation folder I never organized. I'll probably post it some time soon in multiple threads.

Jesus fucking christ, i love that plane. I mean, i love the F4, the F6, TBM's, SBD's, pretty much all naval aircraft from ww2, but something about the Corsair....it just...makes my torpedo tingle

I don't think i've seen anything rock that camo better than Hornets tho..
