The Asp was the only cool gun with clear poly on it. It's also older than the manga so it's hardly new. That thing looks blockier than a glock and impossible to rack or sight.

One of the more interesting scenes in GiTS was the debate between the Major and Togusa over his decision to carry an old-school revolver in the middle of all that high tech. Seeing these impractical gun designs reminds me that, as usual, Togusa was the most practical and level-headed of the whole bunch.

Togusa's character is to show off the opposite side of being hightech and rushing into technological advancement. He has no cybernetic implants and shows off that a simpler life is still nice. The whole series is about rushing into technology and stuff like that. Also Batou has the saddest roboboner and wants to live Togusa's life with a nice family and shit.

That would be fine if it weren't for the fact that there's no sign of any sensors or cameras on the front end of the gun, nor is there any sign that she's got augments. Batous got those golf ball eyes for a reasonm and the major still has to use goggles for NV and so on.

Fucking why? In an age of fancy cyber tech where everyone is a super human what possible reason is there to use a revolver in none other than 9mm as a combat side arm. Not only are you killing off your capacity, which is one of the selling points of 9mm, but you're forgoing the penetrative capabilities offered by magnum chamberings, which is arguably the only saving grace revolvers have.

major.
>>
>>33538920
She basically wrecked herself trying to rip the hatch off the spider tank. I think Jensen wins out on pure strength factor.

Honestly she isn't meant to be a hulk mode type of operator, that's Batou's job.
>>

>>33538937
Im not sure how much lifting a dumpster compares to prying open a sealed armored tank hatch.
>>
>>33538960
+P+ and sabotted rounds like 6.5 CBJ. Sexy

Revolvers aren't really that much more reliable though - if you use one with an extractor you can absolutely lock up the cylinder. Misalignment is possible.

A semi auto, arguably, might malfunction more, but its also far easier to remedy when it does happen.

>>33539026
Its been a long time since I've seen the original. Does she actually successfully get the hatch off?
>>
>>33538678
Except that's a stupid fucking design. Judging on where the magazine is in relation to the muzzle, that entire gigantic piece of shit has a barrel length of like 5.5 inches. It's basically sticking a Glock in one of those carbine rigs.

Also means the trigger is probably far away from the chamber, so it needs a long trigger bar.

All the problems of a Bullpup with none of the benefits.

Even when she's not using thermoptic, she can hack his eyes and make him not able to see her anyway. If she gets to h2h range then she hacks his brain and shuts him down. I don't think we've seen Adam do that (I haven't played Mankind Divided).

Adam hasn't tried feats of strength on the same level as the Major, he's puched through walls and shit but so has she, she's ripped cyborgs in half but also destroyed her body doing too strong shit multiple times.

It's how people shot in the 70s/80s, they would use the index finger of their support hand to hold onto the trigger guard.

Theoretically it's supposed to reduce muzzle rise but your grip will change after each shot and muzzle rise isn't an issue with a proper normal grip anyway.

I used to shoot like that but it's only good for slow fire, you will find yourself adjusting after each shot.

They seem about the same which makes sense because Jensen's is based off hers of course.

GitS:SAC was just as good as the movie, it just went in a different direction.

I mean cylinder misalignment.
And extractors can get jammed up by all sorts of things. Either happens in the field, it usually requires more than SPORTS to fix. A semiauto might technically fail slightly more often, those 'failures' are always immediately fixable.

With the notable exception of overpressure ammo, theres no real reason to sacrifice the capabilities of a magazine fed semi auto. Especially when he wears it in a holster, not CC.

Also the Mateba's Unica is an autorevolver and their most famous product, the one in the movie is a fictionalized variant of the Mateba 2006M. Both the real 2006M and the fictional one are SA/DA.

Speaking as someone who loves GitS, you're absolutely wrong. The original movie felt very much like 90's anime. It was extremely heavy on philosophy, overly dark and brooding, and unnecessarily complex as far as it's ideology goes. SAC was a TV show meant to be digested week to week and easy to follow, so they couldn't ram their ideas down your throat in an hour and a half and call it a day. Honestly, I can rewatch SAC episodes, but having seen GitS 95, I have no desire to see the whole thing again. Clips, sure, but you couldn't pay me to sit down and have my brain beat to death by dreary philosophy again. It's like getting hit in the head repeatedly with a depressed 2x4.

>Firepower.
>10mm vs 5.45x18.
>So, a Soviet CC pistol round which can't even generate 100ftlbs AT THE MUZZLE can compare to a pistol round that can get over 700ftlbs.
>Adam's 10mm in Human Revolution uses QUANTUM FUCKERY to "phase" through armor. When fully upgraded, this MONSTER can rekt Tachikoma expy's.
>In Mankind Divided, this was changed to ammo types, Armor Pirceing, EMP, which would rekt the Major as she is mostly machine.
>The Assault Rifle in HR, is chambered in 7.7mm flechette. The closest comparison is 7.62 NATO SLAP and fully upgraded, it becomes a Smart Gun with a 60 round mag, firing at 900RPM.
>In MD, it was changed to fire legacy 5.56NATO, but keeps its stats, and has AP, and Incinerdary Ammo.
>in CQB, Adam is a MONSTER, he can KO multiple dudes in 2 or 3 seconds, puch through concrete walls, and his arm blades can slice through level IV armor like butter.
>If Adam REALLY wants to rekt your shit he can go full ALOHA SNACKBAR without dying, and can throw 1000 lb+ dumpsters like a cardboard box.
>The question of the tank hatch, Adam could rip it off with little difficulty, as a hatch needs to be able to be lifted by a human for access.
>Hacking. Adam is virtually immune to hacking, only being hacked after the Iliumnauti program.

What you have to understand for the weapon design of the original manga is that it's from the mid eighties. It was literally cutting edge technological stuff for its time, and it's seeped in eighties futurism which is one of the things that makes it endearing.
Think of it like a Michael Mann flick from the time period - Thief, Manhunter or Miami Vice. Cutting edge for its time that now looks dated (but is still badness).
>>
>>33537613
Well they did throw most of the source material out the window and alienated the existing fan base. It's not even bad as a movie, but it's a god awful adaptation.

Haven't seen the film, but I think the cardboard shell is meant to hold the gun together, as a nod to the original film. The guy in the anime who gets beat up by Major uses hyper-velocity rounds, which his gun shoots at the risk of blowing up. This would be a neat little update if it's actually what the prop department intended. If not, then I guess it's meant to convey that the gun is a cheap, easily-available DIY weapon

True but he's still the least cybered person around, so it's an improvement. It's also handy to just have a 'normal guy' on the team because he'd be at a crime scene be the only one who noticed that say, the mother didn't have any baby food, or the 10yo child wasn't doing homework.

Everyone else is just talking about what clinic the guy's mods must have come from.

He's an improvement at least and he's the only one who is vaguely in-touch with normal people.

I haven't seen the live action, but in the anime the guy wasn't the Garbage Man, he was someone else the Garbage Man met in a bar who used the Garbage Man as a decoy. They tracked down the Garbage Man who noticed he was being tailed and went off to warn the 'Skinny Man' that the cops were on to him.

Skinny Man was a fairly well equipped thug, had a Cloaking Hoody and High Velocity ammo, plus he was augmented, Major breaks his ankle and wrist and he just back flips away.

He was ghost hacked, sure, but that only explains the script tool he was using and gave to the Garbage Man.

Assuming they followed the original at all.

>Because we need a guy like you. Number 1, you're an honest cop, number 2 you've never stepped out of line, and number 3 you're a family man. And, except for the slight brain augmentation, you're body is almost completely human. If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable, and there's always more than one way to view a situation. What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple, over specialize and you breed in weakness... and slow death.

I hate this argument whenever anyone faces them off with the Major. "B-but she can just hack them!" Do people not realize how hacking works? These people from other universes would have technology inside them completely different from her universe, it would be incredibly doubtful that the architecture would be compatible and that she could interface. It's about as bad as in Independent Day when a Windows 95 virus takes out a fucking alien spaceship.

I once saw a particularly hilarious example of this when someone was arguing the Major could hack the Master Chief in a fight and hack Cortana... bahahaha, the same tech from 500 years in the future and the super AI that regularly cracked through fucking Covenant and Forerunner systems. No way.

as much as I love the major this. I know Major's kit pretty well but can't say the same for Adam, but from what others have listed, he'd have a huge advantage.

old tech > new tech even though the user of the old tech can mitigate it some what, if both users of old tech and new tech are equally skilled with the above, then the new tech will win.

>Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex: First Assault

It's a rather bland, generic, typical South Korean FPS "arena shooter" or whatever. Small maps, with the gimmicks being character specific "powers." For example, Batou can activate a rocket launcher after a set amount of time or kills/assists, and Togusa can activate a sentry or send seaker explosive drones or whatever, I forgot.
However, the community is quite good and fairly healthy to a certain degree. The game does not put too much emphasis on Pay2Win like many Nexon published games out there (I'm looking at you, Combat Arms).

However...
>mfw, Koreans can design better sci-fi weapons than the ones use in the Hollywood GiTs movie, haha!
>>
>>33548243
Too add to this, The main reason why the major is so bad ass is because she is of the highest tech level possible or at least that is what is semi implied throughout the GITS SAC universe, as well as the first movie.

He's also the only 'regular' cop. The only other cop on the team is Paizo and he's an MP who specialises in undercover work with smuggling gangs and shit and is suggested to be more than half a gangster anyway.

Togusa is literally the only guy who might know the regular procedure to notify someone of a death, find a stolen car or investigate a murder.

A couple of the others are intel specialists but most of them are pretty much just finely tuned killing machines. Great for taking down the bad guys, not as useful for uncovering complicated conspiracies.

I paid for Beta Access too, yes, it's enjoyable but it becomes bland eventually. Devs need to stop making tiny-ass "Crossfire" like maps and make them 3x bigger than the current ones available. A common issue I face is enemies spawning right next to me and I die because they have 2 second spawn protection.

If they can revamp map designs then the game would be much more enjoyable, to be honest. However, Domination, SND, and Ghost modes are pretty fun so I guess what I said was an exaggeration to some degree.

>>33549344

When you get a chance, could you lay it out on a cutting board mat with grid pattern with a ruler to map out dimensions properly? I guess the important parts to "copy" would be where the trademarks are placed, angles, thickness, etc etc of the pistol. Important areas that would help calculate dimensions of other parts of the gun.

Something on the lines of a cheapo 3D scanner such as Microsoft Kinect may help, but I don't wish to overburden you.

I don't mind waiting, but I wouldn't know where you would "run off" to on /k/.

I've seen it, but I don't trust the reliability of the dimensions for the 3D print version. Poseidon Japan worked closely with the original creators of the series if my information is correct, thus why I called it "the perfect replica" in my opinion.

>SAC is fundamentally a procedural

Not those other anons, but that is literally what GitS is: it's a police procedural following an assassination and cyber warfare special operations unit who works for a corrupt government.

Have you never read the original manga?

The 95 movie (and Innocence) is actually the significant departure from the source material compared to SAC.
