How do the Ruger and M&P stack up to a plainjane PSA build
turning 21 soon and am ready to buy
>>33513052
The Aero Precision AC-15M midlength beats both in the entry level AR game
>>33513080
saw this suggested the other night as well
ill give it a looksie
what makes it better? just tends to be more accurate?
>>33513100
It's a 16" barrel with a midlength gas system, not a carbine length gas system and it has a milspec 1/7 twist rate, not that gay 1/9 twist. Midlength gas system is softer shooting and more correct for a 16" barrel (plus you can mount a bayonet correctly) and 1/7 twist barrel gives you a lot more ammo choices in the heavier grains (69gr, 75gr, 77gr).

Go back to whatever hell hole you came from and stay there.

>bayonet
implying i don't live in MA :(
>>33513080
So if I were to buy that, I literally just need to snap on a stock, handgaurd, and sights?
>>33513080
What's the main difference between this and the M&P Sport 2?
>>33513052
Buy a cheap brand like Bushmaster or something like what >>33513080
recommended if it is your first rifle and a fuck load of ammo to get used to it. You won't learn anymore about the rifle/carbine by building it than you will by cleaning it and with the tools need plus shipping & handling and a transfer fee it will cost about the same.
>>33513646
Name brand really, fanboys justifying their purchase anything really.
>>33513646
>>33513674
>Aero is midlength gas system, M&P sport is carbine length
>Aero is 1/7 twist, Sport is 1/9
Those are not insignificant differences, the Aero is superior

>>>/out/
>>33513691
If it is a persons first rifle they probably do not need to be bombarded with bullet twists, grains, round coefficients or gas length systems. They need a rifle that is g2g out of the box and a fuck ton off ammo.
I hear what your saying and agree 1/7 is better, however your still justifying a purchase and proving my point.
>>33513052
Ruger has a cheap handguard and neither the Ruger or the Sport have a chrome-lined barrel.
Both are just fine for a first rifle, and you'll be totally satisfied unless you plan on building. If you want a gun you're going to live with the rest of your life, get a PSA or maybe a Springfield Saint or the new Savage Patrol, and add to it later. They have mid-length gas and can be customized to the degree of any other Gucci AR, provided you don't mind being stuck with a fixed front sight post.

>A2 post
Fucking disgusting
I don't know why that's still a thing in 2017
>>33514091
To trigger people like you.
>>33513691
Pardon my newfaggotry, but doesn't aero use 4150 steel for the barrel, while the s&w mp15 uses 4140? Should that even make a difference if you can't fire fully automatic?
>>33514220
Literally just a difference of .1% carbon content.
Don't sweat it too much. Whether a company uses 4130, 4140, or 4150 for their barrels is largely a matter of which one they already had on hand or could otherwise get cheaper.
>>33514026
i can't pop off the gas block from my M&P sport?
>>33514428
You can, but then we're talking about total barrel and gas replacement to convert to mid
>>33514685
so if i want a lower profile gas block to go with a set of free float rails, i need to replace the entire barrel assy too?
>>33514858
if all you want is lowpro its a just a gasblock
going from carbine to middy is a whole barrel assembly
>>33514893
okay sorry im new to this whole AR scene i thought that there might be a thing with the m&p that i didn't know about. thanks famalam
>>33514858
negative
you can either punch out the taper pins on your FSB, grind off the sight to fit under the rail and re-pin (some scoff, but its perfectly fine and the pins assure correct alignment, plus its stronger)
Or you can punch out the pins, and replace it with a low-profile block, but you'll need to align it right and you'll have two pin holes that you'll need to paint or blue.
You'll need to remove the barrel anyway to install your rail, so you'll need the appropriate tools.
>>33513699
Naw, man. Leave /out/ alone. They've suffered enough. Send the cunts to /trash/ or /mlp/ or really anywhere else. Give /out/ some time to heal.
>>33513122
Can I just swap barrels between 1:9 and 1:7 or will there be other things I have to adjust?
>>33515028
Yes you can just change them. Just buy it built and a lot of ammo to learn.
>>33514220
an ar15.com talking point with no real implications
>>33513052
>tfw bought the MP sport a week before the Ruger dropped to 499 WITH magpul furniture
>>33515028
Swapping barrels isnt difficult to do. Literally lines up and you screw the barrel nut back on. You dont have to worry about alignment
