I bought a virgin Bulgarian 5.45 from KVAR for it. I had a Green Mountain for a while but eventually said "fuck it" because I already had a ton of research and money invested in the build and another $100 for a combloc barrel wouldn't kill me.

Yep, those are my next steps. Egyptian gas blocks and front sights have been popping up on Gunbroker recently for fairly cheap, so that won't be a problem, but I'll need to make sure the barrel can be threaded to 1/2x28 so I can put one of the CNC Warrior slant brakes on it.

Apparently they are ridiculously backed up. I sent my Saiga to them back in december to just have the barrel populated. All they have to do is press off 2 parts, then press on 3. Simple, and should only take a few hours.

The barrels on the MISR S/As are turned down to about .500 - you can't rethread it back to 14x1; there's not enough material. 1/2x28 *might* be doable, depending on how badly Century's monkeys fucked up while turning the threads down. Mine look pretty clean, so I'm optimistic.

I'm looking to pick up a used AK, I've never actually seen one in the flesh. If I were to inspect one in person, what should I be looking for exactly?
I know of canted sights, but how do I tell if they're actually canted.

Limited to milled type furniture. Also no side rail. I actually really like the rifles for what they are, but they don't have a Russian analogue and are uniquely Bulgarian. It just depends what you want from it.

Tbh they are kind of an "advanced" ak guys rifle and you might feel like you're missing out compared to a stamped rifle that is much more flexible. But an minimalist SLR95 with maybe some ARM-9 furniture, maybe have a side rail installed, maybe have a combo black installed, pretty sweet imo

You'll be settling alot if you get the C39, just get the SLR-107r/107-11(same rifle) and you'll have a much higher quality rifle.

Top one is an Izhmash 6x5 plum bayonet, runs about $150 or more depending on where you look.

Second one is an experimental Izhmash 6x5 produced in very limited numbers that commands something like $500 or more IIRC. You will almost never see them for sale.

Both bayonets are very uncommon due to the plum coloring and you'll likely only find them on AKFiles marketplace or eBay. If you want one in the same pattern for less, you can buy a black one for slightly less or look for a Bulgarian (10) 6x5, which is also black but demands less of a premium compared to the Izhmash.

Just that you can't count on them to do everything, and they're just not as nice all around when it comes to stocks, gas adjustments needed, safety, mag system, looks/stock overall, sights(maybe depending on your likes).

If it were my gun I wouldn't be worried. Just keep in mind that it could rust there, sooner than other places if the finish is worn off.
If it's bothering you, try filing a little off, or maybe very gently bending a little bit of the dust cover out to allow it to clear. Just go slow and be careful.
