This one is in Russia I think, pretty sure it says "MMG" on it somewhere. I just want this magazine though...
>>33470840
>>33470787
I think it could've but it still wouldn't allow it to perform like an AR-15 for that test since it's still not as tightly sealed. But honestly, I really want those selectors for my AKs now, they just look neat-o
>>33470787
>would this have made a difference in the infamous InRangeTV mud test?
Probably, but it's a mud test and who cares.
It's about as scientific and noteworthy as... well, a mud test on a gun.
>>33470787
Is it spring loaded so the bolt pushes it down and out of the way, but then it springs back up into place between shots?
dammit my connection is fine. google just keeps fucking up pic related.
>>33470854
yeah thats what I would assume too, maybe a slight difference but not something that would make it perform better than the AR. I really, REALLY, want one though. Quite frankly that seems like something that would be easy to reproduce.
>>33470871
it would be interesting to see, is all
>>33470890
i believe that is how it works.
>>33470898

we wont get them til someone start making them
i have pics but they are corrupted
>>33471003
Or they were thinking it could be used on a safety with a different detent placement.
Don't see how something that weighs almost nothing would need weight reduction.
>>33471030
You suppose that rear cutout is to clear the cross support rivet when the bolt coming back pushes the dust cover down?
>>33471046
not the guy you are responding to but that would make sense.
>>33471046
Think you nailed it.
Good call, kind of hard to think of a static pic as a movable object sometimes.
Especially when I've never seen it in action.
I finally gave up hope for ever finding an Egyptian slant for my Maadi so I settled for a Russian slant which is close enough and an Egyptian nut (which isn't correct for my rifle as they were never issued with Egyptian military crutch folding Misrs but for my rifle I don't care because it's Egyptian so w/e)
>>33471015
An 84S and 1911 together is something I never thought would look as good together as they do
alright, being newish to the gun laws, I gotta ask. do you need a tax stamp for an underfolder?
Where did the pics of the spring loaded safety dust cover come from?
Does the person posting them have that safety in their possession? If so, where did you get it?
>>33471205
All OAL laws are done with folding or collapsible stocks fully extended
>>33471205
Nope.
>>33471001
>>33471000

>>33471224
Modern WASRs are new production. Older ones are not.
>>33471224
both.
WASR 10/63's are no longer in production. they are made with surplus kits.
WASR 10's are current production and made with new parts (not surplus kits)

Are any of you aware of any early Russian one piece half moon 74 brakes ever being sold in the US?
>>33471407
Not that I'm aware of, I hope to find one some day as it's the only Russian AK74 brake I'm missing but they're really rare
>>33471189
As a representative of the pharaoh we forgive you.
>>33471407
Nope
How much are unregistered full auto AK's worth?
I was looking online and ones that are registered can go for $15,000 but I saw a comment that if it is unregistered they are good for nothing but parts and wouldn't go for more than $400.
Hypothetically, if I were to just have came into possession of one should I return it? Can I go and register it or did it have to be registered before 1986????
>>33471817
Hypothetically, even posting a hypothetical question like that is a good way to get your dog shot.
No you can't register it.
What it's good for is SHTF. So stick it in a wall or something and wait for the race wars.

I'm voting airshit too, but stranger things have happened.

Paki mags were only made in 30 to my knowledge
>>33473774
>While unlikely, it's possible the Krink mag could be a Paki orange mag. Hard to say.
what I was thinking.
>>33473791
>Paki mags were only made in 30 to my knowledge
and what is that there, friendo.....?
>>33473802
Could just be the angle but it looks like it extends a bit too far passed the pistol grip
>>33473774
>>33473802
It's airshit, you can even see the plastic reinforcement on the front lug of the mag that 95% of 5.45 airshit AK mags have
Locking cylinder thing on the stock is solid and the pistol grip is the fat ones they use to house the gearbox, dead ass airshit
>>33473846
Was literally just about to post about the locking mechanism
>>33473846
so 2 real VSS's and an airshit krink.....?
I was thinking it was a cop car in Ukraine or some other soviet satellite state
>>33473863
It's a VSS and a VSK-94 which appear to be real, but the krink is unquestionably airshit
How does the VSK have a straight mag but the VSS and AS Val have curved mags and they all 3 use the same ammo?
>>33473931
Ima blow your mind right now, m16 uses both straight and curved mags, and that's one single firearm not even a different model, it's like fuckin voodoo shit
>>33473976
WTF I hate M16's now.
>>33473931
It's easiest to make stamped steel straight than it is to give it curvature like the plastic VSS mag.
>>33473931
Curved mags are only needed for reliability with more bullet
Plenty of cartridges are perfectly fine with straight mags as long as you don't try to load too much ammo like that
>>33474054
>>33474063
The reason I asked was because if it was possible to make straight mags for that ammo all along, why did they start out with the AS Val and the VSS using curved mags? Why not just start out using straight, easier to manufacture mags for those guns?
I don't expect anybody here to actually know why the gun designers did what they did, I'm just kind of thinking out loud...that sort of thing.
>>33474096
VSS and VAL mags are already basically straight, and with the way they're built I wouldn't doubt that they borrowed molds from RPK-74 mags
Also >>33474054
>>33474096
Good point
>>33473846
If im not mistaken Izhmash makes rear trunnions with the solid locking bar like that. Think they are civilain pieces. But yeah its airsoft junk.
>>33474054
>>33474132
How far along is your bizon? I hope to have mine finished sometime around summer.
>>33474256
Whats a Bizon kit cost?
>>33474302
Too much.
>>33474302
pretty much whatever the owner feels like asking.
>>33474186
They do, just recently. But you can see on the airshit one that there is a small indention meant to mimic the hole. The ones you are talking about don't have that, and they are a darker color from what I've seen as well.
>>33474256
Zasta is the one with the Bizon kit, I've never laid hands on one unfortunately
>>33474256
Somewhat along lol I need to send the receiver for correct engraving then send it and the barrel to jbi to be profiled.
Ever figure out what you're going to do for a trunnion?
>>33474302
Paid $700 plus another ish 700 for "costs" back in 2014 but the deacts seem to dried up from retailers.
>>33469556
I'd like to add to my previous question...
Why isn't pic related real? I find it interesting to have a bayonet mounted on a krink. The shopping might not be accurate or the right scale, but affixing the bayonet like so would be possible if you had parts custom made, no?
>>33474434
From rear lug to front ring on an AK bayonet is 5 inches
Chimps can tell you the distance from krink GB to front of the MD but basically the reason is cause that distance is shorter than 5 inches
>>33474440
So if you had a gas block fabricated with a lug and a compensator/brake that was long enough to secure the front, it could work? It's a more cleaner/sturdier alternative for affixing a bayonet to a krink than if you used zip ties, duct tape, etc.
>>33474645
You'd literally need a muzzle device that was 6 inches long, but I guess unless there's something I'm missing about those blocks
>>33471817
>>33474645
Might be wrong bit i dont think there is enough room for the ass end of the bayonet to fit, even if the lug was there
>>33473791

>>33475757
Sweet. Also I like the Romanian Revolution pictures you posted. I had a neighbor who was in the Revolution. He was a machine gunner on a T55 I believe. Somewhere there's a picture from it that actually has him in it he told me years ago.
Also, fun fact for anyone interested, Russiansurplus.net has polymer experimental dust covers. He's G2G. I've ordered many small parts and slings from him before

>>33475854

>>33475784
Yeah ive ordered from him as well. My Grandmother was married to a man who had goverment ties over there and wouldnt let her leave. She hoped a train one night in 1977 with her two oldest kids and made her way to America. She came back 2 years later to grab my mom who was an infant when she decided to bolt and then came back to America again with my momma. Its a neat story but im shit at telling stories.
>>33475887
No, it's the original finish. It's pretty beat to shit but it doesn't look like it in the pictures. The serial is also heavily damaged, I'm pretty sure it's 8971

>>33476036
That appears to be some sort of belt-fed thingy. Perhaps a proposed replacement for the RPK?
>>33476044
They are both Pakistani magazines. Basically copies/knock offs. Locking lugs are made off brass instead of steel. They are (as far as i know) plastic with a brush over made to look like bakelite.
I really need to put in my form 1. Also does anyone have a mustard AKSU sling they want to sell me?
>>33476064

Any idea how long the average wait time is currently? I know for a long time it was 9 months to a year. Not sure if it's less or more now.
>>33476171
The 41P cut off in July backed the system up by 2 years.
>>33476171
About 7 months according to tracker
>>33476171
It's still probably in that time frame. I would assume 41f caused a huge backlog
>>33476195
>>33476196
>>33476197

>>33476206

Haven't shot my AK in five or six years. Today: 300 rounds no problem. I love this gun.
>>33476331
Clean that shit up. And whats up with the buttstock?
To anyone who uses a ak to m4 stock adapter by rifle dynamics, do you need a cheek riser to use an optic that sits right above the dustcover, or would I need to buy ctr/moe + cheek riser for a good weld?

Out of curiosity, have you read Defector by Mark Hobafcovich? He's a neighbour of mine (not the T55 gunner, he moved 6-7 years ago) who defected from Ceaucescu's Romania in 1980 via. Australia. I have a copy of the book I got from him, and for defections it's actually a great read. I'll post a pic momentarily.

Are Obzors a meme? They look cool but I'm not sure. A lot of people here seem to have them but I dot know if that's because they're good or if they're just memes. Who had an Obzor first in AK general?
>>33476831
Do it.
I've spent over $600 for mags, accessories and ammo for an HK91 clone and I have no idea when or even if I'll ever buy one.
It's not like I can't sell the stuff in the future if I decide to not get one.
>>33476866
They're good but unconventional. Honestly if you're debating that much maybe just opt for a Western collimator
>>33476866
I like mine. If you want a Slav optic I think they're one of the most interesting while also being good, but if you don't want a Slav optic you'd be better off with a proper western optic for the same money
I don't know who had one first. I want to say Zasta but I don't know if anyone here had one before him.
>>33476866
I really enjoy mine. Personally I wouldn't put a Western optic on a slav gun but there are better options out there. No idea who had it first but I got mine in December
>>33476953
When did you get yours?
>>33476990
According to AK Files feedback May 2016
No issues with it since then. It was a bit of a pain to zero but that's just Russian optics, and once it's zeroed you don't need to worry about it anymore. Other than that being a pain it's been great
>>33476196
Not how NFA tracker works
NFA tracker tells you how long the people who are currently having forms approved have waited. Which is not necessarily an indication of how long you will wait if you submit a form today.
>>33477140
It has 3 sections of each wait time bar on the graph. The last section, 'received stamp', is 135-145 days for the 10 people who supplied data. Of course this doesn't predict the future
>>33475854
how much did you pay for it?
In the market for a bug-out gun, would a WASR be fine or should I save for something like a FM? Just looking for something that can hit man-sized targets at around 100 yards or less, I have a rifle for beyond that range.
>>33477324
>would a WASR be fine
>Just looking for something that can hit man-sized targets at around 100 yards or less,
WASR would be fine. Easily hit targets in that range, and even farther out if you need to.

>>33477254

>>33470566
I have extensive experience with ARs and AKs but I dont own either right now, I was interested in getting a PSA parts kit for either an AR or AK but I dont know which is the better deal.
What quality are the kits? I see that the AR one will be around $500 with shipping, taxes, and fees and the AR will be about for, which one would actually be worth it?
Also, I see IO AKs going for about $500, I've heard they are terrible but what is wrong with them? Are they actually American made or just American assembled?

It kinda looked like fun and I've honestly considered buying one just for the hell of it.

how much?
>>33478207
Well there's something like 200,000 marines but the USMC only acquired about 4,000 of these pistols and supposedly they were mostly for force recon/MARSOC. I think I'd rather have a beat to shit M9 anyways if it came down to it.
>>33478209
$1350 for the pistol, $50 for the gunbroker gold membership to allow me the privelege to buy one, $100 for shipping and sales tax for the privilege of living in NC, and the transfer will be $25.
I've already seen two of them resold on GB for over $3000 though so I don't mind, I'm gonna play around with it for a while and then sell it
>>33478257
this post gave me deja vu. fuck.
>>33478257
Yea the m9s worked but holy fuck.
Thought it's pretty cool they brought the raider patch back.
can someone point me to the cheapest sidefolder kit? I'm overwhelmed with how many there are. I'm not picky, just don't know what to go with.
>>33478521
Unless you really have a hard on for a specific kit, you're better off just buying an arsenal. Unless you're going to do the complete build yourself
Anyone know how much mags cost in the Ukraine? I have a contact over there and want to make him a business offer without offending him.
>>33478590
Me thinks cash has the upper hand here. He offer you
>>33478590
Look up the yearly salary of the average Ukrainian and consider how much value your USD has in his country
Anyone here rattlecan their ak before? the finish on my old guns are so scratched up i was thinking about spray painting some shitty camo on it.
Probably something close to woodlands since thats how it is where i live.
>>33478590
>the Ukraine
>the
neck yourself Russofag
>>33478631
Holy fuck dude.
>>33474434
Not calling it The Rooty Tooty Stab and Shooty...
>>33478661
Cost of living is lower as well, otherwise everyone would be homeless and starving. But it's still an indicator for just how much weight the USD carries in Ukraine and other parts of the world. $5 means a lot more to a Ukrainian than it does to you.
>>33478703
No kidding man. So what are the legalities behind importing magazines? I've heard to separate the internals from the mag bodies, but is there anything else?
>>33478792
You need a license to import mags, no matter what anyone here says. You can do it under the table with very little risk of getting caught if you're smart about it (not gun words, separating the mags into pieces, multiple small packages, stuff like that) but it's still technically illegal without the proper licenses.
>>33478853
Oh I see. Well good thing this is all hypothetical :^)
>>33478853
Importer anon?
You know it's Russian if it requires the strength of a million slavs just to install it on your weapon.
>>33478638
Yea. Krylon or duplicolor work well. Or engine paint
>>33479147
Amazing what some pliers can do
>>33479147
>strength of a million burgers
There that's better
>>33479235
Kek. Especially on this board when people explain the need to work out because they can't handle 5.45 with a triangle stock.
>>33479147
the clips on my romanian slings feel like they're made of tool steel.

>>33479147
Here guys, this Russian shit is ridiculous and needs to be modernized. Someone could cut themselves on these primitive sling attachment. Burlap sling, cmon this is ridiculous. Who wants that abrading their neck while on a mission.
>>33479531
Canvas whatever it's old and dangerous. You have no idea what irritants could be in that material, maybe even carcinogens. Quit being such purists and get modern equipment for modern males..
>>33479568
Modern males. You mean nu males. I'll keep my carcinogen filled russian shit
Daewoo is your Aimpoint a CompM4 or a PRO?
>>33478567
thank you. my tools and experience is limited so I'd be willing to pay a bit more for something that's ready to build.
>>33479631
It's a PRO

Pro

I stalk this general a lot and you don't know how much I'm jealous of that AK.
>>33479886
Nice, I just bought the same one. Now I need a B-13
>>33479952
5k plus rounds and no hicups. Its my go too hiking rifle also.
>Except when using a beryl mag. Dont do that.
>>33479972
Nice man, its the best red dot ive ever used. I love how easy it is to zero on many different rifles.
Can anyone read this? I think it's 1951 or 1961 dated.

Arizona is a amazing place, the amount of different environments and ecosystems is astounding. I truly love living here.
>>33479717
No problem. You'll get a better barrel too most likely and it'll cost less if you have to source a builder
>Kvar sent out newsletter about new Vepr FM
>20.5" .308
They seem to be getting closer to the RPKs people actually want.
>>33480916
.308 rpk plz
>>33480916
That's actually fairly tempting to buy, but I'm still salivating a bit over the bm59 too for a 308 gun.
>>33480579
>Damn Midwest
What part of 'Midwest'?
I got the Mississippi River valley around me, man. There's some good shit.
>>33478521
I'm assuming you're looking for a 74, in which case a Bulgarian kit is your best bet. KVAR has the kits for around $599, or you can buy a fixed stock kit from something like What A Country for $370 or so, then buy a separate side folder, trunnion, and front/rear hardware if needed. Then you'll still need a barrel and a receiver before someone can build it for you.
I'm with >>33478567 on this - unless you have a specific type of AKS-74 you're wanting, you're better off just buying an Arsenal. I'm nearly 3 years into my 1983Russian AKS-74N build and my current total for all parts, receiver, and build work is something close to $2,200 - and that's before you factor in some $600 worth of magazines and two bayonets worth around $200 total.
>>33480950
There will most likely never be such a thing as a 308 rpk unless it's very much a custom job.
I think I'll feel lucky if we see any more rpks from molot at all. I hate to say it, because I'm drooling over the 545/762 models as much as the next guy based on experiences with the 556 model.
>>33481441
>MN
Could be worse, but mostly farm fields where I'm at. Great ground for evening tracers like the night I took pic related.
There's lots of wildlife areas and stuff though, so some pretty beautiful places if you can keep from being overrun by wood ticks.
>>33481441
not the guy you were responding to btw
>>33474302
I had to go al la carte/improvised with my builder, it will not be %100 authentic in parts but it will be functional bizon with luck. Full rifle with a drum will run you around 2k give or take.
>>33474339
My idiot mind apologies.
>>33474404
Letting the builder take care of that aspect but being build off a cad file which is based on the replica specs of a legit RU trunnion as I understand it.

Bought a converted Saiga 5.45 last year and have been having a lot of fun with it. I would like to add better furniture and a muzzle brake.

Am I missing anything for turning a base Saiga 5.45 into pic related? The most work I have previously done with a firearm is replacing a Makarov recoil spring. Any advice or criticism is appreciated
>>33481693
Don't buy Timbershit.
It's junk and overpriced.
Get the front end fully converted, instead of bolt on retainers.
That muzzle device isn't anything like an actual 74 brake other than appearance.
>>33481693

I have AK74 Russian Laminate 4pc sets for 60 + shipping...don't over pay.
>>33479991
It's not the Beryl mag's fault, magazine is fine

I want to move to AZ, OR, or WA. I spent a couple weeks in Portland over the summer and fell in love with the scenery and climate but I could do without all the libs. I'm not sure I could handle the desert heat
