Close an auto loading 12ga with #1 shot
mid a 10/22 with like a 3 or 4x scope
long....like.. any centerfire rifle cartridge

Stupid question from a city-dweller:

What do you do with coyotes (and other large pests) after you kill them? Just bury them? Obviously you can't eat them, and while there's taxidermy, I imagine not something you'd do to every single coyote you shoot.

Get a 10/22 and just start blasting away.

Pros:
Its quiet, relatively effective, easy follow up shots if need, cheap scopes that work well, very accurate, can load subsonic ammo for being extra sneaky round the suburbs, what recoil?

Cons:
Will take more than one shot if not in the heart or head, if you're using subsonic ammo the range and arc are terrible

That being said a 10/22 with segmented hollow points and a 3-9x scope is my primary yote smoker and always gets the job. Remember even if they run away after the first shot they'll die from the infection and while that would be terrible if it was a deer fuck yotes, let them suffer.
>>
>>33279273
Living on a small sheep farm we have a pile where we dump the dead sheep and bury them. The coyotes go in the same pile and get a tractor bucket or two of dirt dumped on top of them.

Or if I want the bones later I just drop the body on the ground at the far corner of the property and thanks to the wonders of nature I come back 4-6 months later to a meat free skeleton (not bleached white but clean). I've since taken to decorating gate posts with coyote skulls.

Moat of the dogs were totally psycho, but kazak just sat there wagging his tail.he has scars from being fought, but the only animals hes ever hurt are yotes that have gone after him. Take him in public, around other animals and have no issues. I did spend a lot of time working with him and training, but he was very easy going from day one. Honestly I have no clue why he is this way, I'm just glad I found him and gave him a good home
>>
>>33279026

Anything you can hit it with, they're not powerhouse animals. I've killed them with just about everything.
>>
>>33279273
If you chop up the meat you can use it as bait for fish, crab, and crawdad traps, and I know some people use it as bait for land predators such as other coyotes and in some cases wild hog and even Bobcats.

If you get a really nice one you can taxidermy it, if not you can still at least tan the pelt and either use it yourself or get a decent price for it elsewhere

Actual trapper of the great white north reporting in. got 56 the first 2 weeks. got most of them with my .223 or my 12 gauge, but sometimes 45 colt is used and is very effective. A 10/22 or anything .223 and up depending on how much damage to the pelt you are ok with. You don't have to have an AR to shoot 5.56 or .223. they make bolt action rifle a in that caliber. If you want a dual purpose rifle for hunting deer or whatever get a .308. Coyote's and deer aren't too far apart in size. Not like comparing a moose to a coyote. 308 should do the trick butiggt fuck up the pelt a bit, at least they will probably never live long once hit.

Coyotes aren't tough animals, but Id hesitate

My personal varmint choice is 22-250 because

you can, but there are fur-buyers that prefer them to just be dried. it'll depend on who is buying from you

sometimes yes, but it'll usually result in less money because the buyer has to skin it. once again, it depends on who's buying and what they want

it's usually someone who either works with the fur or goes on to sell the furs to other manufacturers. if you ask around your LGS/outfitter they'll usually know someone

Listen here frendo, it's not about being upset at nature. I know there are risks to letting a cat outside in Montana, I sought to mitigate those risks. Tons of domestic animals "walk around" outside and yea sometimes they die.
Then guess fucking what, humans have more need/desire/utility for these domestic animals than the predators. Then farmers cull wolf packs, kill coyotes, set traps for small predators, put out poison, etc.
Butthurt isn't what your looking at "friendo", it's fucking revenge, and that's pretty natural too.
> Oh no, he's upset at nature, it's the natural cycle and whatnot he shouldn't be surprised his domesticated animals was killed by a predator. What a loser for letting his pet outside for 12 years because keeping it inside is clearly better for it's health and well-being.

Get fucked hippie, i don't let nature fuck with me or my domesticated animals without consequence. Of course I got mad, I'm not some teenage weeb whose mom doesn't let animals out of her stinky house. My cat served a function, and that was keeping small animals out of barn and garden, and house. Actually I drink Stone/ballast point beer because I helped set up thier distribution in parts of Montana that actually have people. And whiskey because I'm not some limp wristed faggot. Why the fuck would I shoot a hawk or eagle? Because they'll come after my fishtank?
I shot coyotes because they killed my cat, which not only was my family companion, but a tool I used for a specific purpose.
The chickens are replaceable, but they too hold value, and my wife and kids love playing with them too. I eat thier eggs, and them too sometimes, but they don't have the breast meat and they're more expensive to eat than a rotisserie chicken/venison.

And not to get snooty, but I did go to college, grad school, and actually did something with my life, and moved to Montana because of how cheap it is to live here, how beautiful the landscape is, and how great the gun laws/hunting/fuck the feds attitude is here.

How am I the ignorant one here?

What are you trying to say here? I've killed a few feral cats when I had my chickens in Bend, but the neighborhood had an agreement to keep cats collard with bright colors to prevent any accidental killing of a family pet, because alot of us had animals like rabbits etc.

Do people actively hunt cats for amusement, regardless of feral status?
Answer is yes
Do people also hotglue cats and otherwise torture animals?
Also yes
Do they hang here on 4chan

Do you mind me asking what you do. I want to move out of rapidly cucking Oregon to somewhere /k/ friendly that doesn't rain 2/3 of the year.

Problem is I'm working for a CIS major so I need at minimum decent internet access if I work from home.
>>
>>33300959
Because it's not that fucking hard anymore and it's a novelty at best.
>>33299148
Is there something better? I need to know because reasons...
It works well in places with very little oxygen however. Seems like a plus for burying it and stuffing it inside pigs.

He was the best tactical mind the UNSC had to offer. Rescued him as a kitten after I finished my commission.

I work part time as a retailmarketing analyst. And i work full time as a human resources consultant. All from home. I have sat for internet, and cable backup. Both run just fine in Juideth basin county, which only has 2000 people I think. I make 120k a year after tax and the state takes very little. I live like a damn king, the state takes very little. Honestly though, look at Austin Texas, it's one of the fastest developing areas for your line of work. There won't be much here unless you have ALOT of very good prior experience working for the private sector, and then you can work from home from anyplace. I still go back to OR for Deschutes beer every now and then, used to work for thier marketing. OR isn't so good for growth, look at Seattle. I know it's a lib hole, but not in the worst ways.

Lol, you can't shoot for shit. I'll list my coyote kills for you:

>.243 Win, two coyotes in four seconds, one DRT and one 15 yard trail, both shot on run
>.243 Win, SET
>12 gauge Nitro Turkey, shot on the charge, pitched and rolled to his death in the brush at the bottom of the hill
>12 gauge birdshot, held on base of skull, DRT
>.22lr, base of skull, DRT
>9x19, gutshot, trail not pursued

You do realize that sometimes animals don't stay still? And being that they're coyotes fuck where you hit them, just wound them and tie off in the 4x4 after them with a club. Those kills aren't that impressive, I've used a .22lr and .22 mag and I don't recommend the .22lr unless you're within 50 yards. Even then use something bigger like .223 or 22-250

>implying coyotes stand still
Read >>33304117
It's like you don't want to shoot a coyote anywhere in the body let him et away and lose the pelt just because it wasn't his fucking heart or a vital organ. Anywhere to slow him down and you beat him with a club, after all it's not hunting, it's predator control.
>>
>>33298330
Still a hunting regulation, it's like how you can only use low capacity magazines in semi auto rifles/shotguns because it gives the game a sporting chance. Again this is not a firearm law, it's regulation.
>>
>>33280331
>using .22lr
Fucking stupid. Follow up shots especially in the same caliber bullet as a .223 still makes holes especially if you shoot him 8 times, decreases the value to fuck all. I'd rather 1-2 shots with my .223 and a couple holes than 8 with my .22 lr and make Swiss cheese out of it
>>
>>33295240
Coyotes are literally cancer. Are you gonna reimburse farmers who lose 30-40 cattle (3k each) every year when a coyote kills them? Then shut it newfag
>>
.223 out of a 24" 1:14 barrel. Tumbles like a mofo on impact, drops 'em with one shot.

Also live in PA. Have called the game commission to see if I could hunt with my yugo SKS with the gas shut off. They said it had to be modified to be a bolt action, so I asked if it would be possible to just pull the gas tube out. They said it needed permanent modification such as the gas tube welded shut.
>>
>>33298330
Fear not! As a PA resident (non hunter though) I'm pretty sure the PGC voted to allow semis for hunting. I am not sure if its just for small game or vermin but check it out!

Wasn't even trying to be a different anon. Just correcting

I've always used #2 shot. but really, most turky loads will easily do the fuzzy jew in.

I've been meaning to get me some T shot. which is almost big enough to be buckshot. but havn't got around to it.
>>
>>33304117

Lol, most of those were on the run. Sounds like you just can't shoot. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.

Sounds like you don't know what the duck you're going on about, only ever killing 6 coyotes. Fuck I've gotten 15 in one day. Don't worry, you might be able to call yourself a "hunter" one day, slicker.
>>
>>33308557
>duck
Autocorrect, I've never once said duck on this phone.

>>33285303
I think the anon that mentioned 203mm was thinking of the m203 40mm gernade launcher.
>>
>>33308557

You're the one who complained that they're tough when you can roll them the fuck up with just about anything. Also, I only recently started hunting songdogs. I have killed scores of deer, turkey, hogs, small game, most game birds in the lower 48, etc. Longest kill was a hair over 475 and I've got boots I was issued at CIF with more time in the dirt than your whole loadout.
>>
>>33309193
You yanks must have must smaller coyotes than up here. I am a good shit, especially with 22lr, and they don't drop in their tracks. A .223 will make them in the right spot (I've been doing this for 8 years and I probably dropped 15 only in their own tracks) so I'm going to take my own word on it rather than a stranger on a Mongolian horse riding forum.

Oh, you're a canuck. Yeah, ours are smaller.
