Why Max Bernier?

Policy highlights:
Lower all income tax, scrap capital gains tax, CRTC, federal carbon tax.
Eliminate all corporate welfare, nationalize airports and Canada Post.
Reduce immigration, end relation with UN for refugee selection.
Double the length of firearms licenses from 5 to 10 years.
Reclassify firearms: Non-restricted = any semi-auto with overall length >26".
Reclassify firearms through law in Parliament instead of the RCMP or cabinet.

also, anyone have any polytech rifles? Ive heard mixed things about the quality of the old m305's
>>
>>33251814
>polytech
are they the ones making the type 81?
>>
>>33251814
they're fine rifles, but not to the same quality of American made M14s.

Basically what you can do is acquire the M305 to get used to and familiar to the platform. Afterwards if you wish to you can acquire an M14. They'll be hella expensive compared to the M305 but they are superior in nearly every way.

Up to you in the long run. Do note that sometimes you may find a rifle that has iron sights that are not lined up.
>>
>>33251814
Receiver is good, but other parts aren't quite as nice. I've heard the op rod in particular likes to shatter in the Chinese ones on particularly hot loads or after enough time. Good idea to replace that early, other than that it goes bang. You can always replace all the parts you want over time for GI parts anyways, and just keep the receiver, and it'll still be cheaper than a US one.

There's a sticky in the Battle Rifle section of CGN that you should absolutely read. It goes into detail about all sorts of modifications you can make to the rifle to improve reliability, ergonomics, accuracy and precision. The guy who goes by "Hungry", in particular, is a wealth of knowledge on the rifle. I don't know if he still does them, but he used to teach classes on them where you bring your rifle and he'd walk you through a lot of the mods.
>>
>>33251814
got the email, they also have the option to update your mail address
>>
>>33251814
Buy one
>replace springs- buy USGI springs or whatever- as long as they're not chinese
>replace op rod with a fluted op rod- if it causes your rifle to jam with the bolt back you have to file away the bottom of the barrel where it meets the reciever til you have one sheet of paper clearance
>then get the gas group TIG welded- to do this you will have to remove the front sight assy. To do this you remove the castle nut lock pin, spin the castle nut til its loose and file away the spot welded area of the front sight. Do not beat it off, it fucks up your barrel.
>get the gas system unitized in a shop at the 2,6 and 10 oclock positions- just a tiny dab of TIG will do it
>gut the trigger mech and polish every mating surface with emeryboard fingernail polishing things from the dollar store and 2-3000 grit sandpaper til it is literally as shiny as glass
>do the same to your op rod but be careful to not remove too much material- be gentle
>ensure your op rod guide ring is perfectly centered. It should let your op rod fall perfectly in line with the gas system every time- not iff center or anything. If it is off center mark the correct position for it and get it silver soldered in place. No welding on barrels- the heat fucks them up.

This got me a 0.4 MOA M305. If you want better yo ucan buy new stocks from boyds etc but it isn't worth it desu. I picked up a cheap scope mount from amazon, a mildot scope I had at home, a bipod I already owned and screwed a picatinny rail in to the stock way up front to mount the bipod. Hit targets with surplus out to 900m.

The beauty of the M305 is that half the work can be done without buying new shit at all. If you're a fucking retard with mroe money than sense you can buy USGI bolts, the blackfeather stock from m14.ca, some american barrel etc ad nauseum

With what I did to mine it shoots better than I do. Trigger breaks like a candy cane with zero creep- about 2lbs

Rifle, scope mount and elbow grease. 10/10
>>
>>33252475
Also take chalk to your iron sight markings and the rollmarks on the rifle. Makes it easy to read and super aesthetic. Just grind it in hard by hand and wipe off the excess.

A lot of people put nail polish on sights to improve visibility.
>>
>>33252492

>>
>>33252942
>>33252942
By chalk on sights I mean on the adjustment dials- where it says how far your elevation is

Do not pain your rear sight but go ahead and pain the front sight, I use glow in the dark paint and clear nail polish to seal it.

>>33252974
if you bought an M305 with canted sights you're a fucking moron who will never be able to perform a trigger job or gas system unitizing anyways.
>>
>>33252475

Which scope mount did you get from Amazon? How does it hold up?
>>
>>33253186
fuck if I remember, some $30 special. They're all the same desu, only $30 some odd bucks. The quality comes from how well you install it and how you use loctite. Protip though- the scope mount makes bolt removal a fucking nightmare. Once you mount a scope NEVER remove your bolt unless you have an hour or two to get it back in.

Not sure if hunting is more /out/ or /k/ but this fall I'm looking to go on my first deer hunt. I've got firearms, ammo, and land access covered already, but can anyone give me some decent advice for clothing? I've done a lot of hiking before and have sweaters and coats for that, but I don't have anything in either camo or that is particularly quiet.

I'm wondering if someone could point me in the direction of something windproof and say water resistant that would be appropriately camouflaged and quiet.

We will be in a river valley in Alberta if that helps for the kind of conditions expected. Most of the hiking clothing I have is synthetic and will either tear on the plant life or make a "whooshing" sound when it rubs against itself.

I was actually looking at gorka's, considering they are wind proof, water resistant, camouflaged, and strong enough to not tear on every thicket. I would be concerned about the weight and noise level though. If anyone has any advice on that as well I'd appreciate it.
>>
>>33254917
Why don't you try hunting first before worrying about how to outfit yourself.
>>
>>33254924
I'm just very nervous about being prepared clothing wise. When I was younger I almost died of exposure in the mountains by being a dumb ass and getting myself caught in a snowstorm where my gear all soaked through. So I'm a bit paranoid about being prepared for the worst. You are probably right though, and any help is appreciated.
>>
>>33255019
Wear appropriate clothing for it being about 5 degrees colder than what the weather is expected to be, plus the orange vest on top. Worst case scenario and you're too hot, you can take off a layer.

I stand corrected, I had gotten that confused. Seems he is basing it on barrel length. Although from the wording, function is the key component still in how to classify firearms.

If I'm not mistaken in the debates and elsewhere he mentioned how full autos are pretty much the only thing considered for prohib status. I would look for sources on that particular statement.

Hopefully that is the case, because then it means we can have short barrelled handguns again. As they'd most likely fall in restricted classification.

Any deregulation that might occur wouldn't really change things in Canada. As it stands most of the atmospheric issues are from China and India, so tell them to cut it out.

Hey, the constant maintenance thing might help with the "jobs jobs jobs" rhetoric.

Sure but I don't see anyone looking to get rid of water protections or forestry laws, unless I missed something. The only talk I have heard about so far is about getting rid of the cap-and-trade carbon pricing, which is a useless measure that only exports manufacturing to China and India which have much more relaxed environmental laws.
>Hey, the constant maintenance thing might help with the "jobs jobs jobs" rhetoric.
Have to pay taxes to pay for the jobs. Especially in places like Ontario, electricity related costs are already through the roof. Nuclear is effective, efficient, and clean, particularly if we can get thorium based reactors working, which we should definitely be researching right now.

If I were you i'd read up on what Harper did to the fresh water act, it's pretty horrendous.

Cap and trade has to be within provincial confines, international just wouldn't work.

As far as power costs go, monopolies are solely to blame. If competitive pricing between renewable local sources existed, provincial caps on power costs were put in place and privatization of crown power corporations were prohibited, we'd be laughing. We're doing this to ourselves here.

Canada has the worst of both worlds. We pay huge amounts of tax to support our semi-socialist system, but our cost of living is through the roof. It's so ball-blisteringly frustrating. Every time a step forward is discussed, all taxpayers see are huge bills. We need some basic fucking protection here.

Anyway, should I buy a famae?

Sure, but Harper isn't running, now is he?
>Cap and trade has to be within provincial confines, international just wouldn't work.
Well Canada doesn't work on a purely internal economy, if it's more cost effective to move factories elsewhere, it'll happen, and carbon pricing goes a long way in that regard.
>As far as power costs go, monopolies are solely to blame. If competitive pricing between renewable local sources existed, provincial caps on power costs were put in place and privatization of crown power corporations were prohibited, we'd be laughing. We're doing this to ourselves here.
There is nothing preventing people from buying solar panels to put on their rooftops, most people only give lip service to the environment and nothing else. You'd have more effect campaigning to get people to do that then anything else, at least in terms of fixing carbon emissions in Canada.

Harper's not running, but the legislation is still in place. It's open season on our fresh water bodies.

If capping and trading occured within provincial confines, we'd see balanced and reduced emissions in Canada, which is a step forward (and incentive for businesses to go green).

But don't you agree that our unregulated power corporations are gouging consumers?

Bernier seems to be spouting more of the big business ideals of conservatives previous. If there's no pressure, than the status quo will remain in place.

I don't mind expensive mags, so long as they work. I heard about binding issues a while ago, but i'm not sure how founded they are. Does anyone here have one or shot one?

Not quite true. I'd suggest you look into it yourself. Not to mention it doesn't look like Trudeau will ever do anything about it.
>If capping and trading occured within provincial confines, we'd see balanced and reduced emissions in Canada, which is a step forward (and incentive for businesses to go green).
That or provide incentive for companies to move manufacturing out of Canada. A better solution would be incentives to install solar panels and other stuff like that in the company.
>But don't you agree that our unregulated power corporations are gouging consumers?
I do, but forcing green technology won't fix that.
>Bernier seems to be spouting more of the big business ideals of conservatives previous. If there's no pressure, than the status quo will remain in place.
Bernier is a libertarian, he's for more personal freedom. As far as business is concerned, sometimes government intervention can help but often it can hurt more. Look into what his actual stances are, at least in this regard.

In all honesty, no. Shove "muh free market" up the ass with telecommunications. Other countries are going godmode with government funded gigabit fibre lines (yes, they're small but it's not like we're spread all over Canada) but reducing regulations on these nickel-and-diming service provider bastards will kill us all. I don't understand how. I have like five of them and it's literally as easy as an SKS or any other semi-auto.

Why do people keep saying this?
>>
>>33280834
Well I'm shooting Chinese corrosive ammo, so I have to go through the regular corrosive ammo steps, plus the gas system has a ton of tiny parts to it that need to be thoroughly cleaned. The main issue is the gas port and the key.
>>
>>33280945
I put a bit of simple green in a 5 gallon pail, throw all the small parts in, grab a pipe cleaner, dip it in the solution, put the muzzle in the pail, and run the pipe cleaner through the gas port. A small paintbrush is used to clean out the gas block.

I run nylon brushes through using the water and warm simple green, and toothbrush clean the small parts (bolt, bolt carrier, all gas system parts) that were sitting in the soapy water. Air compressor blow everything dry, air compressor and brush some oil on getting oil in every crevasse, wipe off excess.

Clean as a whistle, no rust, takes like 5 minutes.

I could also just put a sleeve on the 40mm to make it work with a 60mm.

Moved to Ontario from out west and all the ranges here require safety glasses. I can't find a pair of safety glasses that'll fit over my regular eyeglasses--and can't go without as my vision's 20/300 and I'm basically blind. Any other eyeglass-wearing shooters have any suggestions?
>>
>>33282188
I mean, it's so simple you could just make one of each.

What design are you thinking?
>>
>>33282302

Corrective safety glasses, maybe?
>>
>>33282302
you can buy prescription safety glasses I think, you just need to know your prescription

get glasses with bigger lenses, tell the RO they are plastic or shatter resistant lenses, i've never had to wear safety glasses over my script glasses in 5 years of going to the range.

otherwise go to cambodian tire or a good safety supply store (like work authority if you live in the GTA).

on a completely unrelated note, made out OK at the pickering gun show today. picked up some unobtainium .40 beretta mags for cheap cheap, and this ithaca double for 150 cash bux.
>>
>>33282386

They want me to wear glasses that are solid from the lens area back at the top and sides.
>>

/pol/ has posters from all over the world, of all different races, religions, political leanings, etc.

If your opinions aren't solidly built on logic and reason, you'll get your ass handed to you until you either ragequit or find something more logical to hold.
>>
>>33283460
You'll note a couple things in that sentence you so casually dismissed, mostly the phrasing. "Climate change" was the first one, not warming or cooling, change. If there is a change occurring, then yes there is climate change. The other bit is "anthropogenic" which is the idea that any changes occurring are caused, or at least aggravated by, human activity and that humans are having a noticeable impact on the climate.
>>
>>33283638

Interestingly, western media is finally starting to cover it, but no mention of the cult stuff. Just cronyism.

Our governments aren't any cleaner than theirs.
>>
>>33283638
>>33283697
It was covered fairly indepth by most western media months ago when the allegations first surfaced.
You can't claim the media is self censoring if you simply aren't paying attention.

This.

>>33283638
And thankyou for proving my point that people who go to /pol/ are easily led on by the bullshit there.

>>33283662
Yeah yeah, 'logic and reason', of the kind that was thrown around last thread (or was it the one before?) by the guy who thought differences in the hard palette of the mouth (along with other bullshit evidence) was why non-whites will never be able to integrate into Canadian culture... Real fucking logical.

Also...
>"if you dissent, your opinion gets lots of attention from all the replies!"
>implying everyone calling you a cuck counts as beneficial attention
Who fucking cares about tumblr or reddit, except /pol/ who uses it as a strawman when it comes to everyone who tells them to fuck off or just says something that triggers them?
>>
>>33283826
>why non-whites will never be able to integrate into Canadian culture
they'll never have to because there is no such thing as canadian culture

inb4
>muh hockey
>muh soggy fries
>>
>>33283929
Pretty much this.

Multiculturalism further supports them not integrating
Being allowed to retain their culture and language means they never have incentive to conform learn the language and they can just live in communities of their own where they never interact with real canadians
>>
>>33281634
Except for maybe if there is ever enough of them, It will become a non partisan issue finally?
>>
>>33282302
The requirement of a safety glass is that it has side shields.

That's all. You can buy clip on sides for like a dollar.
>>
>>33284030
>very logic

on another completely unrelated note, what legally counts as "pinned" for a handgun magazine.

one of my older .40 beretta mags has the spring getting caught on the rivet, and the rivet head itself rubbing the fuck out of the frame and not dropping free. if i file the head down any further, its gonna come right off.

does epoxy-ing something to the baseplate or retainer work? i know this is not the place for legal questions, but fuck if i'm ever gonna go back to CGN for legalese.
>>
>>33284208

I'd say drill the rivet out and re-rivet it
>>
>>33284030
you're agreeing with me but I have several problems with what you're saying now.

>Being allowed to retain their culture and language
This is not a bad thing. European culture is superior to others, and it is worth preserving. Canadian culture should have been a distillation of the many great cultures of european/anglo immigrants.
>conform
dangerous word, which is why it rightfully has no place in law anywhere. conformity/compliance will not always suit your interests.
>real canadians
what the fuck is that even supposed to mean after we just debunked there's no identity associated with being 'Canadian'. A real canadian is nothing more than someone with legitimate citizenship for all I'm concerned.
>>
>>33283929
>there is no such thing as canadian culture
We're nicer Americans you faggot.
>>
>>33284228

i have, this is the third one. the ass end is sticking too far into the mag and bungling the spring. i might have to get in there with the dremel and do some emergency surgery.
>>
>mailman just throws the handgun on the floor in front of your door if you're not in the house

>>
>>33285376
You're right. We're exactly like Americans but have a more stuck-up attitude.
>>
>>33283347
Neat.

However this leads to a different question on legality, are grenades NR in Canada?

If not then a "grenade discharger" might be dangerous ground compared to a mortar.
>>
>>33285736
Like what Americans though? Yuppies? Rednecks? Mid west? far west? Poor? Rich? Even In Canada you have all the different cities with their own attitudes coast to coast. I think what i'm trying to say, is generalizing an entire countries personality only works in the loosest most inaccurate ways possible.
>>
>>33285852
>Like what Americans though?
That's the best part. It's like all of them.
If there were no border you'd think it was all one big country since we mostly live hugging the border.

Saying we have no culture or identity is like saying neither does the USA. They have a history but other than that it's the same fucking thing.
>>
>>33285848
Grenades are explosives and require an explosives license to own and use, and are regulated under a different act from firearms. That being said, various caliber non-explosive ammos are legal, including 40mm and other "grenade launcher" calibers with no actual upper limit ever named.
>>
>>33286031
I wonder if an explosives license would let me get grenades or 40mm HE.

Also, are there any options for smoke grenades or flashbangs that don't suck up here?
>>
>>33286224
The license would actually cover it, though you do still have to jump through the legal hoops, and they're even worse than for firearms. Smoke bombs are easy to make btw.
>>
>>33251453

Can someone explain to me how ordering handguns online works? Do I have to register the gun before I order or do I order the gun and then Register?

Your personal weather experience is meaningless as to if climate change is man made. For example, out west in BC we are having one of the coldest winters in recorded history. Does that disprove global warming? No.
No one is disagreeing that the climate is changing. You should go on google scholar, or better yet if your a student, your school's library website and actually do research yourself. After doing that research myself being originally completely sold on man made climate change, I realized that its not actually that cut and dry. A lot of studies that show man's influence remove conflicting data.
Bottom line, unless you have read scientific papers from both sides, I wouldn't make a decision on the obviousness of either standpoint.
