Hyperexpensive Swiss Roller Delay.
Its a pretty OK gun if you discount the fact that its chambered in Snowflakes and is terribly expensive compared to other rifles of similar performance and era.
You guys know intermediate cartridges exist, right?
>>33240884
>hyperexpensive
>Snowflakes chambering
But anon, these sound more like negative points caompared to the SIG751

>>33240915
>SIG 751

>>33240915
Hence why I said if you discount them. Nothing wrong with the basic design, its just that unless you live in Switzerland literally nothing about it is cost effective.
>>33240905
You wouldn't want an intermediate penis, would you?
>>33240952
I would rather go with a 7 inch penis than a 14 inch, yeah.

Also why are you fags derailing thread, let the trannt be ffs
>>33240987
Never.
Trip on tranny.
I'm thinking about getting a Vepr .308 16 inch barrel.
From what I've read barrel length doesn't affect accuracy, and I'm short at 5'7" so I think the 16 inch barrel will be fine.
The price is $750. Is that a good price? Is there anything I should know about Vepr? Good choice?
>>33241049
because the slant cut on the back of the reciever you're not gonna be able to fit regular AK stocks on it. Not sure on the pistol grip.
People do make SVD like stocks for them I believe.
>>33240971
>Wanting your targets to enjoy their experience.
>>33241071
They make adapters for slant receivers to accept pistol grips and even AR-style stocks iirc. There are quite a few... interesting conversions out there.
how do poodle shooters justify this?
>>33240778
Have one, it's great.
Nobody talks about them because burgers can't get them and for the rest other options are less expensive.
Too cheap out and get a razor 1-6 and get a 16s or mk23 or get a k16i or mk8 cqbss

Do you know how the recoil compared to other battle rifles like the SCAR or FAL?
Do you also clean it with the steel brush they give you in the army?
>>33242775
There's a lot less recoil than in a FAL. I can't speak for the SCAR though, never shot that.
It comes with it's own cleaning kit so I just use that. The tools are mostly the same though, just different bore brushes.
This may be/probably a stupid question, but can a DMR be considered a battle rifle, or are they in a whol different class?
>>33242982
A battle rifle is basically an assault rifle chambered in a full-power cartridge, so a .308 DMR is as much a battle rifle as a Mk12 is an assault rifle.
>>33242982
The same platform can be both, as in the case of the G3 -> PSG1, the M14 -> M21, and the FAL -> That weird Irish DMR FAL.
That being said, they perform very different roles, so no. A DMR, although it may be the same platform, is not a BR because it fills a very different role.
>>33243083
>>33243051
Thanks. The reason I asked is because I've always wanted to participate in these threads but I only have a DMR.

>>33254694
I do wonder if guns accurized as heavily or are already highly MOA/sub MOA would survive maintaining accuracy if dropped as well. I admit, I'm not heavily knowledgable on the MOA game, so I don't pretend to know.
If I could improve the MOA to a decent standard while still keeping it survivable to a degree, I'd be fine with doing that.

>>33254554

>>33254926
It depends on how they're accurized. With M1A's one of the biggest things is the bedding, which, depending what you use can get fucked up over time. Although it's not particularly hard to rebed an M1A provided you've got the tools.
Hell you got me wanting to shoot a group, drop mine, shoot a group, drop it, and repeat a few times to see what happens.
I need to get mine on paper first though. Haven't shot the fucking thing outside of a test fire into a snail after I did the trigger job.
>>33255021

>>33255021
It's a good question, dunno. Bedding I imagine can be a bitch, but again I'm no expert... if I do any amount of accurizing on mine, it's definitely going to be from a gunsmith, I don't trust myself yet as a new owner to do something like that.
If you do try it out, let us know at least. Curious how quickly the groups start to widen out.
I need to get paper myself, thus far all I've shot are old bowling pins and a shot to hell tractor tire.

>>33255229
Very general idea, but aye, I get you.

>>33255316
Marine-Tex
>>33255341
Definitely, the wood ones are the easiest. The older synthetic stocks had some kind of weird release agent in them that made it a pain in the ass to get bedding compound to stick, and they also had a lot of flex so the bedding could just pop out.
This is one of the newer production SA synthetic stocks and it took the bedding really well. I still went in with a dremel and made it look like swiss cheese before I bedded it haha.
I love all of you.

>>33260479
I mean, yeah. Unless the barrel length is a problem for you, there are shorter variants...
The main issue people have with it is accurizing, which really isn't an issue unless you want to shoot longe range. For home defense or general defense, it'll do fine.
The other thing some people don't realise is they start getting bad MOA/groupings and they blame the rifle, but the mount/optic is mounted in a funky way... some mounts for it are shit, frankly. If you're just using irons, you'll be fine.
Why, what concerns do you have with "depending" on it in a defensive scenario?
>>33260687
I saw a few Inrangetv vids when they put mud and sand in it and it got all fucked up, I have no intention of doing that at all, I'm just concerned how easy it would be to get it jammed up like that without necessarily having to slop fistfulls of sand and mud on it.

>>33278168
Having owned and shot both, they're about even. The m&p left me wanting more, especially since getting spare parts for it is a fucking NIGHTMARE and so much is proprietary or in the least common .308 AR pattern (seriously who fucking decided on DPMS low profile). I sold it rather than spend a bunch of money on parts I may or may not be able to put on another rifle. Still have the PTR though, still shoot it regularly.

Should I grab a Century C308 with a bit of my tax return? It'd be my first battle rifle, and I could afford to grab a bunch of ammo for it.
Looking to spend less than 1k, and I don't have any 308 currently. I don't really mind waiting to buy ammo for a little bit, but it'd be nice to have the option to go shoot sooner.

>>33283023

>>33284312
If you want to test out that warranty sure. Anything shy of vortex razor doesn't hold up to the 17s recoil very long.
>>33284399
The guy whose SCAR it was seemed happy with it. I'm actually kind of curious where the "SCAR eats optics" meme comes from because with it recoiling as lightly as it does, it surprises me that anything would break because from the recoil.
>>33284431
Felt recoil isnt the thing. Its the micro pulses. For VERY short periods of time there is a lot of recoil force. Very high G. You dont feel it, the electronics and lenses do.
Ive seen a couple of Viper 1-4s spin reticles with them. Not to say that all of them will, just that they are not very rugged scopes.
>>33284478
You're probably right, I just haven't actually seen anything about that besides here. I'd be much more worried about an optic on a G3 or an FAL but those seem to handle everything just fine despite having noticeably more felt recoil and I assume greater recoil impulse considering all the dampening stuff in the SCAR that makes it as nice as it is.
>>33238820

>>33284534
The recoil impulse on a G3 is fairly steady though strong, the FAL kills really cheap optics but vortex should be fine.
What do you guys think will happen to all the M14s, EBR and otherwise when the military replaces them with dedicated ARs.

I've done a bunch of research and I think I want to get a FAL pattern rifle. I understand it's a little more pricy than a G3 pattern rifle but is, in general, a more accurate and easier to shoot battle rifle. I went to the gun show today but no one was selling them. I've looked on Gunbroker and they seem to start at around $1000.
If I searched around what's the least you think I could pay for a shooter ready FAL pattern rifle? I'd be interested in a parts kit if it can knock the price down but I don't really want to get into full-on restoration.

You sounds like an interesting kind of rangebuddy. I have a weakness for pretty boys with big BR :3
In managing of the recoil is the most important proper grip and body position towards the stock.
Try, as much lean your shoulder against the stock. Do not be afraid of recoil, a lot of people are trying to relieve their grip and leave a slight gap between stock and their shoulder. It is this behavior will allow the stock to "accelerate" and punch your shoulder harder. If the stock is in firm contact with your body, the recoil will be continuously transferred to move your whole torso without a short kick that causes bruising.
If you have a smaller figure, you have pay attention to your center of gravity, more lean forward against rifle, with a large part of your weight carried on the front leg.

I was looking at buying one and mounting an optic and bipod on it for something I could shoot accurately with out to 600m-900m. Something I could lug around and operate with. Should I just go the AR-10 route?
>>33292508
That Or SCAR
>>33292508
To be fair, you can... but it might need some accurizing once you hit into the further part of the listed range you gave; one of the difficult parts is getting a proper optic on it, since the mounts often use the stripper guide's spot and to rip that off you're going to need a pin kit to nail it out. It's also a pretty steep buy to begin with, so adding in any cost on that can be a whollup.
If you want a bipod, be mindful to get one with a stock that'll have a bottom mount on the stock for it. There might also be pre-builds that have the mount pre-installed, but I wouldn't know offhand, nor know their costs (I got the base walnut).
In short: You can, but it'll cost quite a bit for the gun itself, and then a bit more cost and/or effort to get a good mount on it that'll hold zero for optic, plus potential bedding for action.
An AR-10 might suit you more, or as >>33292559 said a SCAR is available.
TL:DR- Can totally operate with, but may need additional money/manpower to get it where you want it. To avoid hassle, you can always look at other options. Up to what you're lookin' for.
>>33292869
My dad was a DI and scout sniper in the marines and it's his favorite rifle for long range. Not too worried about accurizing since I have him just didn't know if say the AR-10 or SCAR would be better for operating because my dad's fat as fuck now and only uses his as a bench rifle
>>33293071
That, I can't say. It's my first rifle (and due to Massachusetts law, will end up being my only battle rifle) and I have no experience with the others to be able to give a proper side-by-side comparison.
No matter what you decide on, hope it fills all your checkmarks.

For purely© academic™ purposes® are they any battle rifles that are controllable enough on full retard so as to be fired from one moving car to another at roughly 50 meters with the consistency to reliably rid the occupants of the latter car of their lives?
Anyone know where I can find a rhodie FAL parts kit?
>>33293872
I'd imagine 5.45 wouldnt have the best performance but sheet metal/fiberglass. Milsurp 5.56 usually wont even go through both sides of a passenger compartment... perhaps you should focus on metered effective fire?

>>33295008
With that stock, that seems like a pretty reasonable deal. I would try to talk him down a $100 or so. The quality will be pretty good.
>>33295070
I'm trading him a pistol for it anyway. How does it compare to the regular ptr 91 and HK 91?
>>33295053
Close to 5k rounds right now. I got the steel frame.
Some of those are FBI vagina rounds but still.
>>33295213
Only metal framed 10mm that can handle a steady diet of real loads is the superstar.
Otherwise, go Glock
>>33295153
Lower quality than HK91 but basically on par with regular PTRs. The stock would be the only reason I'd value it over $1000 for it if everything else looks good. What pistol are you trading?
>>33295226
Well it's too late now so I may as well keep going and see what happens.
Glocks don't work for me as I've been using a manual safety since I was 8. It's beyond muscle memory now, it's instinctive.
>>33295438
Not sure how thats an issue. Trying to "fan" a safety isnt really an issue using a glock. Either way its a software issue
>>33295465
It's like when you reach for something you can't see but it's not precisely where you remember it so you try again until you find it. Precious milliseconds lost wondering why I'm not getting the desired feeling from my thumb. Not bashing Glock at all, just doesn't work for me. Though I do tend to avoid polymer in general when I can just because heavier frames help with kick. Another personal preference of course.
Since I can't afford a Bren Ten in ten I guess I don't really have any other option.
>>33295593
Putting a surefire on a plastic gun helps with recoil a lot. Training paves over the 'instinct', but I get it. Great thing is that there are options.
