Those are dope

Relevant post from before. If you're looking for cheaper larping gear like combat shirts then buy army surp combat shirts. No melt no drip (important), and breath surprisingly well.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWOT-MASSIF-Army-Combat-Shirt-ACS-Type-II-Zippered-MULTICAM-USGI-MEDIUM-/302186356921?hash=item465bb5e0b9:g:CkEAAOSwo4pYKywg

I actually have cash and good gear. I'm just bored with seeing nothing but factory unmodified stuff here. No soul, no creativity. And I guess I like the idea of dynamically tactically running in accordance with a POU of low friction gear that cost $1 to make against the newest Gucciest $80 mag pouches and seeing if the expensive pouches work 80 times better.

I mean you're painting an AR. Reason being that the more AR's are talked about the less gear's talked about and this kills the /GQ/. Do they not like your paintjob in /arg/ so you came to ask the less bullying zone? Cool paintjob at any rate.

No one responded in /arg/. I've been /arg/ for a while now, it's mostly a bottomless pit of arguments over who paid more for their optic mount and, more recently, eBay: Rifle Edition (tm).

But I get it, this is a different place, new rules, etc.

Mechanix reppin.

They're dirt cheap, hard to break and when/if you do you don't feel bad because they're $30. A lot of better options out there but if you just want shooting gloves there's not a lot else that competes with them in their price point.

its really my fault but I ordered a large instead of a XL in the PIG gloves so they didn't fit right on my hand and as such I wasn't fully into them.
the OR are really the only gloves I've worn that just fit perfectly from the packaging so I've simply stuck with them.
>>
>>33184933
A fried of mine made it for practice. The stitching is messy, but there is a lot of it and it's pretty solid. The cumberbund is good, being that it's a FLC and some high strength elastic bands.

The corners of the plate pocket are wearing a bit in places, but other than that it fits fine. I'm not a huge fan of the triple mag bandoleer permanently on front, but it was DIY with on hand materials.

Gloves are expendable. I choose comfort and replace when worn out.

I have a lot of TIG welding gloves and use them for more than welding. The white Tillmans last longer than military aircrew gloves. If I ever get a weapon hot beyond TIG glove comfort levels it's time to modify the weapon or bring left-hand stick welding gloves, but I don't own anything with quick-change barrels or have heaps of money to get 'em that warm.

The buckles are sewn into the front. The bandoleer is just a cumberbund flap sewn on the nylon.

The whole thing cost essentially the price of the thread used in it. All the materials were things we'd picked up from the military. You can find all kinds of shit on deployment- my buddy got him two old PASGT vests in some dusty forgotten about shipping container.

You are a legitimately ass-pained, autistic shitlord. I'm genuinely having fun with this, but if you are serious then I'm sorry.

Assuming there was some .0001% SHTFWROLOMFG happening, being low profile could easily pay off. Fact of the matter is I have rigger's belts and wanted to try something new. It's a pretty slick belt that works well and has that tertiary bonus being low vis if I need it.

You can drop the money argument as well. We've already been over the fact I didn't like their ifak and had no need/desire for the extra utility pouch(es) that come with it.

That and their are alternative companies if you want to overpay for a daisy chained plastic mag carrier/holster setup.

I stick with it because it works(it's reliable), and when it's time to shoot lead at bad guys that 7-9lbs trigger pull is going to feel feather light.
same reason I stick with the GI triggers for my ARs because they were designed for battle and work in non-ideal condition.

Its funny you say that. I got a handful of Flyye pouches as an experiment a year ago or so. I was looking for an alternative to Condor for GQ and I dont even remember how I found them originally but I got some. I tried to get pouches I could directly compare to mil issue or conparable. Material wise they are spot on and in some instances "better". They tend to use 1000D Cordura for EVERYTHING. Broke out my calipers and started comparing stitching and patterns and in some areas you will find slight deviations but its acceptable. I found one strap that was not stitched properly and I could have returned it but fired up the Singer and did it myself. I tell everyone that considers Condor to just get Flyye if you gotta be cheap its quite the bargain for those that arent full on ninja oper8ors.

We had both, I had an M4A1 with an ACOG and a DBAL when I was an RTO. It was just that at some point funding for the NATO crosstraining mission got to the point where AKs were bought for "immersion". We still used them for regualr training and ranges, the AKs only were blank fire. And sometimes we would take a mix of both M4 and AK on lanes. It was nice using a different weapon but sharing ammo with the man to your side.

I can speak for my unit, we werent TRADOC, but for the guys at NTC and JRTC, I have no idea
>>
>>33189504
I worked as an OC for JRTC for a year, came up as a TDY job between recruiter school and ANCOC for me (back when it was still ANCOC, if that tells you how long ago).

We had both dedicated OPFOR that were TRADOC, and voluntold regular units on rotation. One of the coolest was a single company of LRS we stole from someone's aviation brigade, they really got into it since they don't have a mission CONUS. Only had them a couple months though.

This was also back a few years.

Hey famila,
I need a range bag. Basically needs to hold:
>Hearing pro
>Eye pro
>Ammo boxes (no magazines)
>A range cleaning kit (bore snake, small bottles of CLP or something, some flannel cloth)
>Water bottle
>Phone, wallet, keys

My question is, do I get the 5.11 Small kit tool bag, or the MOAB 6 in Double tap (looks Division-core as fuck IMO).

OR

Continue using my normal backpack and spend the money on ammo and git gud.
I really like the look of the MOAB 6 but don't want to LARP too hard, but I also don't like my normal civilian backpack for a range bag.
>>
>>33192770
I like having my range stuff in a bag that lets me just grab it and get going. That said, I just use an old toiletry bag that happens to be large enough to keep 8.5x11 sheets of paper flat. I bring a stapler, eyes/ear protection, CLP, assorted site tools, and a small IFAK. I keep ammo sperate and bring whatever I plan to use along in a regular pack with the rage bag tossed on top.

Hey lads, looking for a 2 point sling for my bolt action.
It's mainly for supported shooting, as well as the basic function of a 2 point sling. The Magpul MS1 looks pretty good, and there's also a padded version.
Should I get the padded or regular version? Will one be much better for supported shooting?
Most tactical long range vids I've seen feature TAB slings, but they're like x4 more expensive than Magpul. They aren't padded either which makes me lean towards the unpadded Magpul sling.
>>
Stupid newfag question, but where do you guys buy your chicom meme chestrigs? Are the cheapest ones on eBay alright?
>>
>>33193015
eBay
Amazon
Surplus stores

There's so many out there, it's hard to really pin out the cheapest one, but either way just check those frequently and you'll find good deals.
>>
>>33189906
Mayflower or 1961a
>>
>>33192992
IMO it's going to come down to shooter prefence. The padded sling is more designed for a heavier weapon. As an example, a "normal" sling that is maybe 1in wide would be extremely uncomfortable on a 240.

If you have a bipod or some sort of stabilizing device you won't be using the sling to stabilize it anyway.
>>
>>33193124
The MS1 is 1.25". My rifle is probably 4.7kg/10.4lb with scope/bipod. Reckon unpadded will be fine? I just imagine the padding to interfere with the supported shooting?

And that's a bit of a big assumption to say I wouldn't need a sling to stabilise, what if I must fire kneeling or standing? The sling becomes the stabilising device then.
>>
>>33193160
Well your right but I don't know if your taking part in competitions or what. id say a 1.25in will be fine for a rifle at 10 pounds, just my opionion though.

You could argue that a sling with more surface area could provide more stablization, however I'd probably prefer a tight, smaller sling as you said.

>>
>>33194206
I originally had it on my carrier, but this ifak is a lot bulkier than I thought it would be. In theory I should always have my belt on ("first line"), so haven't one on my carrier would be redundant, but after using it more I find myself moving away from belt stuff. I need to get a slim IFAK for my PC, but I'm having trouble finding one in EMR. Will probably have to get an r-karbid one. Need to place a new order from them anyways.
>>
>>33194250
you could just go full trllz and "as long as its green" and pick up that ifak in the gear magazine or do an comms guy and just disregard color altogether
>>
>>33194206
If your running a first line (Belt) It makes more sense to run it on your belt (In case you had to drop the PC, or fight without it).
Some people keep just a small "blow out kit" on the belt, and then have an IFAK on their plate carrier. Its all mission dependent, however If you do run a belt, it makes more sense to have something on that belt, than nothing at all.

>>33194250
Go slim belt line, I absolutely hate big bulky "battle belts" but I cant deny the benefits of a first line. That being said if your going to have a plate carrier you'll have more room up there, but to most people who run Chest rigs, I always recommend a slim low pro belt set up. If for nothing else, a side arm, side arm magazine, and slim IFAK (If you can find one obviously)

Do it.
For the Cobra buckle see if you can just buy the belt buckle assuming that's a decent inner belt (riggers, climbing whatever as long as it's rated decently). It'd be cheaper and then you have some options.

>>33194360
Pretty sure someone mentioned a few threads ago where to buy them, my guess is amazon though. But the sewing thing is where Id personally run into problems. You could just bring it to your local tailor and have them do it, but idk if I would trust it to belay with it, I mean since belts arent really meant for that anyway, you'd be risking it. Thats where I find the selling point to upgrade to a TYR or RONIN, since although they aren't made to belay, its entirely possible to use it for that purpose in a hasty situation.

http://www.austrialpin.at/cobra-buckles/click-buckles.aspx

Austria alpine's the one that makes the legit Cobra buckles so from here.

As for the buckle, the actual buckle part needs an end of the belt looped through and then sewn down yeah the other end (the pin end, male end w/e) is the adjustable part so that's just a friction lock that you throw on one end.

As for sewing it what kind of equipment do you have? Basic sewing machine might do but as >>33194394
said I wouldn't trust it for belaying.

If you sew it and use a few thick zipties it'd work for basically anything except holding up your weight but otherwise you'd want to buy a legit riggers belt ft cobra. But at that point I might just buy the Tyr or Ronin unless you really want to replace your buckle.

Sorry, here's the tan one back when I was missing my plates.

>>33195745
I wouldnt say best on the market. But they are not bad for sure.

>>33195111
I guess if thats your thing than do what you want, but IMO part of the GQ aspect is the functionality of specific equipment. There was a time when having a ton of shit on you was the cool philosophy and aesthetic, but as time went on its evolved into less is more, and functional equipment. This is a scale that often bounces back and force in the grand scheme of war. Actually pretty interesting.

> WW2 minimal armor/gear

> Vietnam heavy loads

> Early Iraq heavier loads

> (Current time) Starting to lighten up

Ofcourse you can go into a billion reasons why this is what it is, but just something to suck on for a bit. Personally I wouldn't ever put anything on my kit that doesn't have a purpose. That mentality is a very airshit mentality. I mean would you put fake plates in that weighed the same as real plates but offered no ballistic protection? Absolutely not.
