Were they part of JSOC that early on? I worked with dudes from NSW, AF STS and the Army's many SOC outfits from the intel end, but never had much of any interaction with Marine components unless they were involved in the larger picture of what was going on, and when they were it was generally a standard infantry outfit helping with blocking or QRF, or already doing their own work in the AO.

I cant really comment on when they officially started operations innacountry, but its also worth noting that the raider patch you see nowadays wasnt really "allowed" until recently where the name got changed. Run it on an ALICE belt or just your regular belt. I used to mount mine to my riggers belt and it wasnt really cumbersome.

Pic related is arguably the only use of an ALICE belt with modern kit by the US Army in recent history. I drew alot of weird looks, but the unit issued the belts and canteen pouches, and it was waaaaay better do drink from a canteen than to suck on a camelbak, plus dump pouch had a place.

Pmags fix their lip issue? Been a while since I've touched anything but the aluminum mags. Metal mags beat the Hell out of your mag well if you're just ramming them in there but they're basically impossiblr to break or bend and if you do bend them you can just bend them back with pliers. Did that to one of my mag lips when I dropped a pelican case on it. Bent it back and it was good to go.
