Asked in the last thread but no one answered.
Do heavy barrels actually add any noticeable accuracy benefits? Are they worth the extra pound or two for increased accuracy?
Additionally, I've heard that increasing the torque on the barrel nut improves accuracy. Have any of you guys tightened it up more and did you notice any accuracy benefits after doing so?
how does /arg/ feel about the krypek/warped honeycomb pattern?
>>33144266
I meant to add, I think my rifle is finished, at least for now.
Rate it or berate me or whatever.
>>33144303
;__;
>>33144310
I impulse bought it before I bought any other parts of the rifle.
It's held up great so far, I've put maybe 200 rounds through it and it's help up fine.
Only one malfunction, a FTF, and it was with cheap Federal Independence so it was probably just a hard primer.
>>33144349

>>33144369

>>33144343
Yup im gonna cheap out with a PA micro dot on the AR and then sink muh sheckles on my usp. Got a rail adapter and an insight m6 for that early 2000's swat chic look.
>>33144358
Torque on the barrel nut is very much case by case I would imagine.
>>33144363
Snekskin is best skin.
>>33144349
Truth. I dont know what those Christian extremists at Trijicon do but MRO has fantastic dot quality easily on par with T-2
>>33144368
Most dots are blobs with my eyes, but the slight magnification of the MRO helps keep it a 2moa dot.
>>33144363
Its a bit try hard, but looks good
>>33144381
That USP is bretty cool dude.
And honestly, my PA microdot is great. There really is no reason not to get one other than brand whoring. They can take a fuck ton of abuse for the price you pay.

>>33144465
imo the PRO is a great optic but the dot quality is obviously where Aimpoint cut costs.
I'd say it's a tradeoff. Do you want a better dot or better glass. Having astigmatism myself, the MRO is no-brainer.

>>33144605
I can't do that one, the angle is right but the grip itself is too blocky. I have a BCM mod 3 grip on my pistol and it's bretty gud.
>>33144673
If it is your primary optic, I would always say go for a regular T1 style microdot.
If you are mounting it on a handgun or as a secondary optic, the little reflex sights are great.
>>33144447
yes
>>33144674
what do they do?
>>33144689
Ive seen them on like the ACOGs and the HAMR. I did a gunstruction of it the other day, I just dont know how well it aims on top like that, ya know?
>>33144618
Mayhaps.
>>33144624
About $150, but I'm working on selling a USP and maybe parting out my pistol.

>>33144654

>>33144676
I would be gone with a BCM grip, but I already had the K lying around.
>>33144666

Well, I tried playing around to see the height over bore. I was faster looking through the 3x scope than finding the dot. It just wasn't working for me the way I wanted it to.

it seems like whenever theyre brought up, its the guys that know jim hodge personally. they cite his background instead of the gun itself as a positive. as for the gun, its a parts gun. good parts for sure, but still a parts gun (with a premium pricetag i might add)
>>33144720
Hang onto it until after you sell your pistol.

What's the point of a full length top rail for a civilian shooter? It looks like the only thing mounted on these are either switches or a front sight, neither of which need so much rail.
All of these things can be accomplished with a MLOK or keymod fore end. Nothing mounted on these even requires a zero making it extra pointless.
>>33144859
It's not. VFG are decades old tech. Ergodynamics have moved on.
>>33144833
New gun is not in the budget right now.
>>33144869
No, my BCG is best.
Few questions regarding your nice rifle:
What light mount is that?
does your front flip up sight make any contact with it?
Can you fit one of the XTM panels on the rail next to the light?

Options for all sorts of stuff.
If you want a literal tube rail, then they are out there, but these are popular with people for a reason. If it didn't work well, then it wouldn't be used; in this era of maximum function tactical.
>>33144883
Maybe it's easier to leave a top rail than to not in the machining process, and people don't want their front sight attached to a rail section that's attached to a handguard.
It's just one of those things that is.

>>33144599
Yes it's number one.
Hodge hand pick best of best components. He have his own forging and machined the receivers himself. Its ultimate best receiver I have ever used. Actual literally flawless machining and the end dimension. Zero receiver wobble at all in any direction.
You will get it once you get it.
It takes my breath away.
>>33144764
You are looking at it very wrong. It transcended. It is in its own plane of existence. Calling it a part gun regardless the fact it use multiple manufacture components due to particular part being actual best and handpicked by mr. Hodge after testing along with other parts.
He fucking hardness test sling loop backplate and picked the with highest hardness.
>>33144883
For most purposes, there isn't much point except aesthetics (to some.) I prefer the aesthetics of rails with mostly MLOK top sections. However, I still have several handguards with full top rails in case I ever manage to aquire NV and want to mount it in front of an optic, or use an IR laser, etc.
>>33144949
What makes it good?
>>33144981

It's an arisaka inline mlok mount attached to the 1 o'clock of the rail. The mbus pro doesn't interfere with the light or anything. The arisaka mount is pretty slick and I like that I'll be able to keep using it when I upgrade to a surefire, but you have to use the longer magpul screws, the stock ones are just a bit too short.

Just a little Velcro strip. I was thinking about getting one of those Cloud defense pressure switch rail mounts, but the Velcro works surprising well with the rubber rail mount that came with the light
>>33145036
of course, but i'm asking if it is necessary or preferred to use it at all
>>33145009
Bad levers, yes. Ambi is only on the pistol. It was white primer with those colors over it. I've never used a clear coat on any sprays.

I don't like how it doesn't match up with the upper receiver height
>>33145358
Fair enough, but if you have an optic mounted on the foremost rail it probably wouldn't be noticeable.
>>33145358
>>33145378
Your rails are cheap for a reason. Just sayin
>>33145127
Thats right. he collaborate alot with mega.
If i buy another rifle at this point it would be complete hdsi aud mod 1 or mod 2 if i can get over few new styles on receiver that im not sure that i like. But im willing to trash my taste just to have number one ar15.
And ignoring my taste's hard but the huge step up in quality is worth it not mention i bet it will grow on me.
Go along and order one already. You would have my utmost respect over everybody ITT.
Top that rifle with s&b scope and im green jelly.
>>33145055
it will also make all of the colors lighter, matte clear coat spray paint has a white hue to it.
>>33145378
Oh probably not. The v1 version of my rail is very similar
>>33145393
Let's dispel this fiction that people who buy G rails are "rich," and those buying ALG are "poor."
Most G rails seen on are bought on sale (many times a year). Forget about the blem sales at $99. Let's take the 25% off sale on PA.
A 15" DDC G rail normally costs $300 and at 25% off it'll be $225, and it comes with a gas block. http://www.primaryarms.com/05-286s/p/05-286s/
A GB retails for $59, and at 25% off it costs $44.25.. http://www.primaryarms.com/ga-sgb/p/ga-sgb/
THUS, $225 - $44.25, the rail if it were possible to be bought separately has the theoretical value of $180.75.
---
ALG V2 15" DDC is $180 (V1 + Cowitness Rail is same) http://www.primaryarms.com/alg-15-ergonomic-modular-rail-v2-mlok-desert-dirt/p/05-319s/
These don't go on sale as often as G rails, and mostly only 15% off. So sale price= $153.
---
As you see, if you take away the cost of the GB, the G Rail on sale (very often, ~5-6 times a year on most holidays) is literally the same price as the ALG ($180). But since the G Rail isn't sold separately from the GB, then it is only $45 more ($225 vs $180 respectively).
Even using all sale prices, the G rail ($225) is only $72 more than the ALG ($153).
If you consider that ALG buyers need to purchase a Gas Block ($44.25, other GBs of similar quality costs ~$40), which brings the cost up $153 + $44.25 = $197. 25, then there's only a $27.75 difference between the price of the two rails.
Even at full price ALG+GB = $180+$59 = $239, the G Rail ($300) has only a $61 premium over ALG.
TLDR: A G Rail is at most $27.75 - $72 more than an ALG, not including the tools (torque wrench $25-$50 needed to install the G rail) vs $5 pipe for the ALG. They cost similarly. Yes, the G Rail may be considered aesthetically superior, but ALG has undoubtedly better ergonomics. Both are strong, but ALG may be slightly stronger due to tubular nature. Just user preference.

What? Explain that.
I'm fondling my ar right now. again.
What do i get from you and GC if i provide timestamp? I half expect you ask for another about week from now and repeats. It sure feel like that already. I have provided timestamp about 6 time in my history here. Only once since my return.
No tripfag that i have shred of respect asked for it. They know you are being silly and i actually have what i say i have.
So. Go ahead and answer me thoroughly.

How much does one have to spend on a variable power optic to get a decent 1x? Based on the few scopes I've handled, I'm going to guess $1500 or more?
Looked through an Accupower today. Pretty bad distortion, 1x was more like 1.5x, and to top it off the reticle reflected around the inside of the glass. Not impressed at all.
>>33145645
I only spent $130. :^)

>>33145779
Carbon fouling and the rapid expanding and contracting of hot metals. If I shoot a lot and don't clean my MD threads or ASR mount, the silencer likes to try to unthread before the locking collar can loosen all the way up. It makes a cringy ratchet sound. Silencers seizing on MD's are really a fact of life with all cans, but some brands are better than others. SF and dead air cans are supposed to be pretty good, whereas the SiCo ASR is alright, and the older SiCo MAAD was pretty bad with stuck cans

Just other day friend at fire dept is vet and have shit load of ammo. 10k of them. When i replied to him "wow thats nice, thats alot of money" he just told me he will give me case of 5.56 tracers and that those ammo "fell off truck"
I have no desire for tracers i tried to tell him he's better off selling them for nice return but he was ordered away by cheif to train with others before i could tell him.
Next fire dept meet he might hand me a case of tracer not sure if i can accept i prefer to reject it. but it would probably hurt his feeling or something or i guess ill have to order more golddot per equal value and give them to him.
Feel like i was virtually forced to buy tracers. Not gud. Im trying to save money right now. I would love to sell those tracers but it isnt nice to sell a gift...
Would be happier if it was mk262, m318, m193, m855 or even xm855a1 if he have them.
Sucky feels mang.
Any ideas what to do?
Its one of those rare moments where i feel like those retarded robots.

Funny
It could be if the guy's that good of an actor. He's goofy, nice, smart and have hand of mechanic and is one. Gave strongest handshake i ever felt. Even when i step up next shake from first i couldnt match what's normal firm is to him without overdoing it.
Notaundercoveratfagent/10 plus whole ordeal of me meeting to him was me coming to him not him coming into my life which make it even less likely.
Plus. post arrest i could alway claim i thought he was lying due not wanting me think less of him for buying crate if more of expensive inferior gimmick (to average shooter who would appreciate match grade ammo more) of ammo. And is trying to offload silly ammo to buy in friendship and hope for more worthwhile return in future from the friendship. I look very favorable in court.
Poor young disabled uni student guy get- shit whats its called when you virtually get forced into a sting. Like doing something you wouldnt have if the undercover agent wasnt virtually forcing you into committing crime. Whats term for that i couldnt remember? Halp?

Just saying--if he says "it's stolen" or "it fell off the truck" or anything other than "I bought it and now I'm selling it" you knowingly purchased stolen goods, there's no "claiming it's stolen to drive up the price and I knew that :^)" about it. Again, just saying.

Yeah its betty gud idea. All i need is good strong intial marketing plus get recognized as quality and go vermort(or however thats spelled jew business term for high end overpriced goods) goods, profiting off overprice and desirability method of business over number of sale which will come in later like rolex, ferrari, and so on for example then drop to common goods if not enough suppressor folks buy into my product.
