AR18 faggots are usually extremely poor and retarded
they act like the M16 was a mistake and that the US army should have adopted the AR18 because it is so superior, because it's stamped sheet metal like the AK and muh pistons

they're not welcome

In the middle of building my A2 clone. Barrel, upper, and upper parts kit showed up yesterday so I woke up early and started on the upper. Gas tube, handguards, and armorer's wrench are still in the mail so I'm waiting on those.

Got the FA and dust cover on my upper with minimal issues, thanks to a set of punches I bought after building my lower with nothing but a hammer and some pliers. Then I got to the rear sight assembly and realized I'm missing a little tiny spring. Tore apart my room looking for it, but no luck. Ordered a set of three from del-ton so we'll see how long that takes to show up.

I was considering cannibalizing my other removable carry handle but I decided not too. I'd rather have that one looking good then pull it apart and ding it up a bit.

I ordered the upper and parts kit from Fulton Armory. Really sucks it's apparently missing this spring. I never dropped the package it came in, and I don't remember the spring being there necessarily. Although it's my first time doing this so I guess it's possible I dropped it.
>>
>>33117843
Psi did me ok. I got $160 worth of stuff that was basically nib for $75 shipped
>>
>>33117609
Pretty easy. You loosen 4 captive hex bolts, slide out the barrel, slide in new barrel, tighten 4 captive hex bolts, change bolt if you have to, change zero to new caliber based off DOPE, you're done.
>>
>>33117965
That sucks, but yes sometimes parts kits get shorted. A magnet in a bowl, or one of those magnetic auto parts trays can be handy at your ar building bench

Hopefully this doesn't sound crazy, but I did vacuum while looking and kinda sifted through the dust with a magnet. No luck though. I just went ahead and bought a set of replacement springs (luckily del-ton had just the springs so I didn't have to buy a whole new rear sight kit) because I figured they'd get here quicker than trying to pester FA into giving me a new spring.

Do you have a lower receiver already? Most companies make uppers that are only compatible with their own lower receivers. If you have bought neither, I would highly recommend a Mega Maten set. For what you spend, you won't find a better fitting receiver set.

That's what I'm trying to decide.

I've got pic related as well as a pistol with a 300 upper.

It's between

M4gery
Precision AR
SBR most likely MK18
5.56 pistol upper

Then there's alway the option to Gucci up what I already have.

I have a mega forged set collecting dust that if I use will be used for the precision gun.

If I do an SBR or M4gry I'll need to get a Colt lower.

I'm really indecisive with this stuff because there's just too much awesome shit. From an application perspective the precision AR probably makes the most sense.

>>33118280
As someone that handles them regularly, save your shekels. Henry's are shit fudd rifles, but the company does a lot of 2A activism, so there's that.
>>
>>33118269
I'm trying to sell off a bunch of builds I did that are no longer interesting. If I could do everything over, I'd settle on one 5.56 upper and then I'd do something wildly different, like a 7" 9mm pistol
>>
>>33118346
Is your lower a DPMS pattern or Armalite?
>>
>>33118280
You really should, they're awesome little guns. Like the other guy said though, I would only get one in .22lr. The lack of a loading gate really bugs me on their "big boy" rifles, because it feels kinda cheap in my opinion. Maybe it doesn't bother you, but it's just something to consider.

I love my .22 Henry, it was the first gun I bought and it's a blast. Only thing I don't like is that the receiver is painted aluminum. Not a huge deal, but I had a scope on it for a while and putting it on/taking it off caused some of the paint to chip. I don't think that's an issue with the golden boy, but I feel like that model is a little gaudy.

>>33118269
A precision AR would be fun, and it'd be fun to experiment with many of the different parts/window shop trying to maximize your accuracy. I think that if you really want to maximize accuracy you will probably want to get into handloading, which is a totally different beast unto itself. I guess it depends how serious you get about it though.
>>
>>33118280
Buy one, they're awesome little guns that shoot everything.
>>
>>33118346
Whatever rifle you have (I assume DPMS Gen II), you can either buy a fully assembled upper from that specific company or buy a stripped upper receiver from that same company and add the bits and pieces you want on it. That is honestly the best way to get everything you want. Should be able to do it for $650-$1200 depending on what options you want.

When building an AR, what is the actual difference between a mid length gas system and a carbine? Does it matter? A magpul adjustable stock is for a carbine buffer, so does that mean I can't have a mid length gas tube?

Kind of matters. Carbine gas on 14.5-14.7": okay
Carbine gas on 16: still doable, not as good, but whatever
Mid on 14.5-14.7: can be picky about ammo
Mid on 16: okay

Carbine buffer vs rifle buffer (A2 stock). Gas doesn't really come into play.

A piece of a rail cover. It's just something to rest my thumb against so I have a consistent hand placement.

>>33118618
Placement of the gas block is the big difference. You can have a collapsible stock on any length of gas system, but the gas length will affect how the gun cycles. Carbine recoils slightly faster and is slightly less prone to failure, but has a slightly sharper recoil impulse.

Rifle length shoots softer and can cycle a hair slower, but may short shuck unless you mess with your buffer weight.

Hey friends, I went to the LGS today to look at red dots to throw on my AR, and found out I definitely have astigmatism and the 2-MOA dots are starbursting just enough to make it look fuzz.
It doesn't turn it into like a diagonal line or anything, just a fuzzy dot that is slightly bigger than it should be, kind of like pic related, but I was only able to try a 2-MOA dot sight instead of a 65-MOA circle.

I tried the Vortex Sparc AR, Sig Romeo 4, and an Aimpoint just for shits and giggles, and all of them looked pretty much the same.

I've read that looking through the rear peep sight at the optic would fix it, but what's the point of using irons all the time if I'm using a red dot?

Anybody else have this?
I'm thinking about picking up the Sig Romeo on Monday or Tuesday to try it out, I think the dot should still be tight enough to shoot accurately with.

The guy at the LGS counter also told me that the Sig sights are made in the same factory as Holosun optics, which was my first choice, but they didn't have any. Anybody confirm/deny?

Not enough clearance from the bottom of the angle features to allow the button to depress far enough without filing down the sight. I'm fairly certain it's technically out of spec with the Picatinny standard.

Get a gun that doesn't suck ass or spend some time cleaning your current one. If you ever have to touch the forward assist, you are doing it wrong.
>>
>>33120096
Are talking about the polymer?

I've got a Troy front I'd make you a good deal on. It's basically brand new.

Damn. Good price assuming it wasn't completely torn to hell.

Outside of that how was the condition?

It's a fucking meme that Holosun makes Sig optics. Some retard on arfcom spouted some bullshit about it, and all the fudds took it and ran with it. I can (((neither))) confirm nor deny that they're made there. They "might" use the same source for certain parts, but are made in different factories. The Romeo4M and some newer upcoming models that were shown at SHOT show this year aren't made at the same place.
